4 A socialist mayor was not what was needed for the issues that Chicago faced. He doesn’t have the tools. Also he is a tool.

By the Minnesota model, the city could become immediately solvent by identifying snd eliminating all corruption. Maybe that will happen if Charlie the Unicorn completes his quest to Candy Mountain.

Trailing daughter #2 and her very tall husband moved to Chicago a little over a year ago, wanting a very different experience than they had in Dallas. Despite being as generally brilliant as all the Rantburg kids ;-) she explained to me that all the talk of bankruptcy and JB Pritzker’s corruption are just propaganda — really everything is manageable.

She’s well into adulthood and they’re both generally responsible, so I’ll not interfere with her learning experience. And to be fair, I was about as oblivious at that age.

9 I have some kinfolk in Chicago area. Most moved north to Skokie, Evanston, Highland Park, etc.

A few are in long term care in the city.

The finances of Chicago are bleak, way worse than the bonding agencies make it sound.
