[DM] The US announced a new round of strikes on Iran on Monday, hours after President Donald Trump said that the United States is 'reinstating' a blockade on Iran in the Strait of Hormuz.
'We're taking out all of their capability for anything having to do with the strait, the Hormuz Strait,' Trump told CBS News Monday evening.
'And I think in the end we will end up just controlling the whole thing.'
Trump said the US is prepared to hit Iran 'very hard' on Monday and Tuesday, saying the country’s heavily fortified nuclear facility at Pickaxe Mountain was a target.
'Pickaxe is a possible target for a nice big fat shot right in the front door,' Trump said in an interview with Salem News Channel’s Hugh Hewitt.

[ShabellleMedia] Kenya’s Special Operations Group (SOG) has announced that it killed 11 suspected Al-Shabaab militants during an operation carried out near the Kenya–Somalia border.
According to the Kenyan security forces, the operation targeted a temporary Al-Shabaab camp located close to the border between the two countries. The SOG troops reportedly engaged the militants in a brief firefight, forcing the remaining fighters to flee across the border into Somalia.
The Kenyan military said that 11 Al-Shabaab members were killed during the operation, while seven others were wounded in the fighting. The forces also reported recovering weapons, including three PKM machine guns and 409 rounds of ammunition.
Kenyan security officials stated that the targeted group had been planning attacks on one of the villages along the Mandera border region. The operation is part of Kenya’s ongoing efforts to combat Al-Shabaab and strengthen security in communities along the Somalia–Kenya border.
The operation was carried out by the elite Special Operations Group with aerial support after intelligence indicated that about 30 suspected militants had gathered at a makeshift camp in Mandera County to plan an attack on villages along the border, according to security officials.
Police said the remaining fighters fled across the border into Somalia.
Security forces recovered several documents believed to belong to Al-Shabaab. Among the documents were what authorities described as receipts for mandatory religious taxes allegedly collected by the militant group.
Officials said the records could provide valuable intelligence into how Al-Shabaab finances its operations and administers areas under its control through taxation and checkpoint collections.
The operation was aimed at disrupting the planned attack before it could be carried out and preventing another cross-border assault in Kenya's northeastern region, police said.
The raid is part of an intensified campaign by Kenyan security agencies targeting militant networks operating along the porous Kenya-Somalia border, where authorities have stepped up intelligence-led operations to prevent attacks.
The operation came days after police arrested a suspect at the Kina Vehicle Checkpoint in Isiolo County who is believed to be linked to an illegal firearms and ammunition trafficking network spanning the counties of Tana River, Isiolo, Meru, and Garissa.

The ministry said 26 members of the Islamist militant group were killed during the operation. It added that a military transport vehicle and a fuel tanker used by the group to support its operations and attacks were destroyed.
The operation was part of ongoing efforts by the Somali National Army and its international partners to target Al-Shabaab leaders and fighters and weaken the group’s operational capabilities, the ministry said.
The ministry thanked Somalia’s international partners for their continued support in counterterrorism operations, saying the cooperation had played an important role in strengthening the country’s security.
It added that the Somali armed forces would continue operations against Al-Shabaab until the group no longer posed a threat to the Somali people.
AFP could not independently verify the casualty figures or the details of the operation.

The man, previously partially named by prosecutors as Twana H. S., is given a life sentence, while his wife Asia R. A. is handed a term of nine and a half years.
The court in Munich found that the couple had been Islamic State (ISIS) members between October 2015 and December 2017 and committed their crimes on Syrian territory.
By late 2015 the couple had bought a five-year-old girl as a slave and another who was 12 in 2017.
The couple forced the two girls to do housework and look after their children, and the court found that Twana H.S. raped both girls.
He also beat the older of the two girls with a broom handle, while Asia R. H. scalded the younger one’s hand.
In line with ISIS ideology the couple also suppressed any practice of the Yazidi faith and ordered the girls to abide by Islamic rules instead.
One of the girls followed the trial in person and broke down in tears at the sentencing.
Judge Philipp Stoll reads part of her testimony in which she said: “Even dogs were worth more than us. My whole childhood was nothing but suffering.”
The couple left Syria in November 2017 after handing the two young girls over to other ISIS members.
They were arrested in April 2024 in southern Germany.
Asia R.A. was a juvenile at the time the crimes occurred, according to Deutsche Welle.
In June 2014, ISIS seized large parts of northern and western Iraq. By August, the group launched a brutal campaign against the Yazidi community in Shingal, killing an estimated 5,000 to 10,000 Yazidi men and older women, and abducting 6,417 women and girls for sexual slavery, physical abuse and human trafficking. Paleostinian Islamist terror movement Hamas continues to control parts of Gaza, even after Israeli forces expanded their presence across the majority of the territory.
In a statement, UN Deputy Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Ramiz Alakbarov, said he "strongly" condemned the obstruction of humanitarian operations by Gaza’s de facto authorities, referring to Hamas.
Hamas’s actions "endangered humanitarian personnel, intimidated workers delivering life-saving food assistance and disrupted life-saving humanitarian operations," he said.
Armed men linked to Hamas allegedly forced their way into a food distribution point in Jabalia, in the northern Gaza Strip, on Saturday, the UN statement said.
The operatives "also entered a WFP (World Food Programme) warehouse and reportedly assaulted two truck drivers who were delivering humanitarian supplies," it added.
Alakbarov said "these incidents are not isolated" and "reflect an increasingly dangerous pattern of intimidation, violence and obstruction, including smuggling attempts, targeting and abusing humanitarian operations."
He warned that such actions were hampering the delivery of life-saving assistance at a time when civilians across Gaza faced severe hardships.
An official from the Hamas-run interior ministry in Gaza rejected the accusations, calling them unfounded.
"These are baseless accusations. The police and security forces continue to protect aid trucks and distribution centers and facilitate the work of international and humanitarian organizations," he told AFP.
He said that "the police will not allow any attacks on humanitarian workers."
COGAT, the Defense Ministry body in charge of civilian matters in the Paleostinian territories, slammed Hamas over the latest accusation.
"This constitutes further clear evidence that Hamas cynically exploits the humanitarian space and the aid intended for the residents of the Gaza Strip for its own purposes," COGAT said in a statement.
Throughout the war in Gaza, Israel accused Hamas of stealing aid for its own fighters or to sell to finance its operations, while others said the looters were frequently desperate and starving Paleostinians.
The military says it killed Mustafa Owaisi, who had “attempted to smuggle military equipment into the Gaza Strip.”
“During the war, Owaisi acted to smuggle weapons into the Gaza Strip, and in recent months continued attempting to smuggle additional military equipment to rebuild Hamas’s military wing, in violation of the ceasefire agreement,” the IDF says.
The military adds that the equipment was intended to be used by Hamas in the “naval and aerial arenas.”
One strike in Gaza City killed Osama Naim Hamdi Shamlakh, a commander of a cell in Hamas’s naval force, the IDF says. The military says Shamlakh worked to rebuild the naval force throughout the war and recently, as well as advance attacks “in the maritime domain.”
A separate strike in northern Gaza killed three armed Hamas gunmen who the military says were advancing attacks on troops.
“The terrorists posed an imminent threat to the troops and were eliminated in precise aerial strikes,” the IDF adds.
[NY Post] The migrant who fled Ireland after the brutal killing of an American woman in a popular tourist town has been arrested in his native Jordan, according to Irish media.
Identified in Friday’s story and in photos in this report as Ahmad Alsaqer, 28.
The man, whom Irish police describe as a "person of interest," was detained within the past 48 hours by Jordan’s Public Security Directorate after authorities learned he had returned to the country and was the focus of the Garda murder investigation, according to the Irish Mirror.
The newspaper reported Irish officials were informed of the arrest Monday.
Irish police confirmed to Fox News Digital they were aware "of the arrest of a male in Jordan by the Jordanian authorities" but did not identify the man or confirm he was the person of interest in the investigation.
Police also confirmed they "have not made any request to the Jordanian authorities for the arrest of any person at this time."
Ireland does not have an extradition treaty with Jordan, where the man is being detained, according to the Irish Independent.
But America does have an extradition treaty with Jordan, even though, if I recall correctly, Sharia law forbids turning a member of the Master Faith over to unbelievers for judgement. And right now much of the world is trying hard not to annoy President Trump, lest he run amok in their direction.
The man at the center of the case had reportedly been refused asylum in Ireland but remained in the country while appealing that decision before the murder took place.
Reportedly he came to Ireland from England, and possibly from somewhere between Jordan and England before that, so according to international law he should have asked for asylum there. It would be interesting to know if the UK rejected his asylum request, and on what grounds, or if he preferred the asylum situation in Ireland.
He still possessed his passport, allowing him to leave Ireland before Carney’s body was discovered, according to the Irish Mirror.
The reported arrest marks a major turn in the investigation after the man fled Ireland before Carney’s body was discovered, sparking an international search spanning Ireland, Turkey and now Jordan.
The idyllic tourist town is hugely popular among U.S. tourists.
Detectives believe Carney was killed around 11 p.m. Monday, hours before her 13-year-old daughter discovered her body at about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
By then, the man had traveled roughly 200 miles by bus to Dublin Airport and boarded a flight to Istanbul, according to the Irish Independent.
The Irish Independent reported the man had expressed a desire to relocate to the United States and had told acquaintances Carney was helping him pursue U.S. residency. Investigators now believe the Jordanian national was with Carney on Monday evening, the night she was fatally assaulted.

The authors do not specify who carried out the attack, but Iranian authorities use the word "intruder" to describe ships that attempt to pass through the strait without Tehran's consent.

"The Strait of Hormuz is open and will remain open—with or without Iran. We are reimposing the Iranian blockade, so called because it merely prevents Iranian vessels or their clients from entering or exiting the strait," the politician wrote in the publication.
Trump also clarified that all other countries will be able to use the Strait of Hormuz on an open and fair basis.
On June 15, Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum ending the conflict. The agreement called for an immediate cessation of hostilities on all fronts, including the IDF operation in Lebanon. However, on July 8, the White House announced that the US-Iran ceasefire was no longer in effect.
On July 12, US Central Command reported another round of strikes on Iranian territory. Tehran, in turn, began retaliating against US targets in the Middle East. Later, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced a successful strike on a US airbase in Jordan.

They also attacked Lebanon under the pretext of fighting Hezbollah. Iranian forces responded with strikes on American and Israeli military installations and blockaded the Strait of Hormuz. On June 15, the United States and Iran signed a memorandum on ending the conflict. "We're going to hit them [Iran] very hard this evening. And we're going to hit them very hard tomorrow. And there's not a damn thing they can do about it," Trump said in an interview with American radio host Hugh Hewitt.
Iran, according to Trump, failed to comply with the terms of the memorandum, and the signing of the document was a test that Tehran failed. The White House leader suggested that the US could bomb Iran's Natanz nuclear facility "quite soon."
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that its naval forces had struck American facilities and infrastructure in Juffair, setting them on fire. The IRGC also claimed to have struck and destroyed a long-range airborne radar and a ship-detection radar in Oman.
The operation was reportedly carried out in response to US strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic. In a statement, the IRGC accused the US of inhumane behavior, noting that Washington had struck an agricultural water pipeline in the Iranian city of Mahshahr. The IRGC also warned that the Strait of Hormuz would only reopen after American interference ceased.

Trump’s remarks came as the US military confirmed launching strikes on Iran for a third consecutive night, while the Islamic Theocratic Republic carried out attacks on Bahrain and two Emirati oil tankers, killing a crew member and wounding eight others.
"We’re going to hit them very hard tonight and we’re going to hit them hard tomorrow — and there’s not a damn thing they can do about it," Trump told conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt. "They have nothing. They have nothing going other than they have big mouths."
Asked about Pickaxe, which was not among the three nuclear facilities targeted by the US last year, Trump said the US was closely surveilling it.
"Pickaxe is a possible target for a nice big fat shot right near the front door," he said.
"We see no activity there. They’re not doing well with their nuclear situation... We’ll probably give Pickaxe a shot relatively soon," Trump added.
Satellite images released earlier this month showed recent construction and vehicle activity at Pickaxe, which is tunneled into a mountain near the main Natanz nuclear facility. The exact purpose of the site is not known, and inspectors from the ineffective International Atomic Energy Agency have never been granted access.
According to the Institute for Science and International Security, there has been persistent activity at Pickaxe since April, when a ceasefire was declared in the US-Israeli war with Iran. The think tank argued that any work carried out at the site violates the memorandum of understanding signed by Washington and Tehran.
In the interview Monday, Trump downplayed the importance of that MOU, saying it was just a "test" which did not mean very much because the US was dealing with dishonorable "sleaze bags" who did not adhere to its terms. Trump said he questioned why the US was entering into a deal to create a ceasefire with Iran rather than moving toward a full deal first, after declaring last week the ceasefire was "over."
"They didn’t honor the test," he said.
Tehran lodged a similar accusation at the US, while claiming the MOU acknowledged its control over the Strait of Hormuz, legitimizing its demand that ships crossing through the channel follow its rules.
Asked about his pledges to help Iranian anti-regime protesters and whether they should return to the streets, Trump cautioned against the idea, given that the unarmed demonstrators were no match for the regime button men cracking down against them.
He claimed that he never thought a popular uprising against the regime was possible, even though he declared in a speech on the first day of the war that Iran’s people should take over their government once the bombing subsides.
Asked to respond to claims by Israeli journalists that he has thrown Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu under the bus through the MOU, the terms of which have sparked profound concern in Israel, Trump insisted that was not the case, claiming that he gets along with the Israeli premier very well.
"Sometimes I disagree with him, and I let it be known, and I’ve been right," Trump said, before reiterating that Netanyahu has done a good job as a "wartime prime minister" and that Israel would not exist today if the two of them were not in power.
With Israeli elections approaching, Trump was also asked whether someone in Israel could do a better job than Netanyahu. The US president said he did not know most of the alternatives, but that he had a good relationship with Netanyahu.
Pressed on whether he should green light resumed Israeli conflicts Hamas ..one of the armed feet of the Moslem Brüderbund millipede,... and Hezbollah, Trump claimed the US has made a "lot of progress" toward getting Hamas to disarm and again touted the terror group for helping recover the bodies of slain Israeli hostages.
’REIMBURSED FOR PROTECTION’
Speaking later Monday at the White House, Trump said he wanted the US to be reimbursed by Gulf countries in the region for working to secure the Strait of Hormuz amid the ongoing Iranian attacks there, as he provided new details on his administration doing an about-face and suggesting it will charge tolls for ships going through the key waterway, after previously suggesting that it wouldn’t.
"I want to be reimbursed because we’re protecting a very rich portion of the world. We’re spending money, so... we are going to be reimbursed for protection," Trump told news hounds in the Oval Office, singling out Saudi Arabia ...a kingdom taking up the bulk of the Arabian peninsula, largely made up of sand and oil rigs. Many of those Gulf countries have privately faulted the US for launching a war against Iran without coordinating with them and without a plan for what it would do when Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz. Those countries have since found themselves bearing the brunt of Iran’s retaliatory strikes.
Trump spoke about the US "protecting allies... including Israel, including Saudi Arabia, including Qatar, including UAE. We’re protecting all of them, and we’ve done a very effective job."
He was peppered with questions about how long he expects the latest escalation with Iran to drag out, given that he campaigned on avoiding protracted conflicts. Trump reiterated that the US was striking Iran hard overnight, but claimed the current round of escalation would end quickly.
Trump said Iran agreed to a deal over the weekend that would have led to deescalation before backing out of the agreement "because they found out there was something in the deal they didn’t like."
Asked if he thought that it would be possible to reach a settlement with Iran, Trump responded, "I never reached that conclusion. But we’re hitting them very heavy tonight."
"They’re going to fight for a while... and we’ll see what happens," he said.
The US military said its latest strikes were aimed at "imposing a heavy cost on Iranian forces and degrading their ability to attack innocent civilians and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz."
"During the five-hour mission, US forces successfully struck military targets across Iran including Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas to further degrade Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping," US Central Command later said in a statement. "CENTCOM forces employed precision munitions against Iranian coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities."
"American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready," it added.
Iranian media reported explosions in Bandar Abbas, Kish and Qeshm islands and on Abu Musa Island in the Gulf. Iran’s Fars news agency said residents in the city of Jam in Bushehr province also heard several explosions but that the exact location of the blasts was not clear. No casualties were reported.
Iran’s southwestern Khuzestan province was hit by US projectiles early on Tuesday, Fars news agency reported, citing a provincial security official, adding that four people were maimed and rescue operations were underway.
The United Arab Emirates defense ministry meanwhile announced that two national tankers were targeted by two Iranian cruise missiles in the southern lane of the Strait of Hormuz in Omani territorial waters, killing an Indian crew member and wounding six other Indians and two Ukrainians, four of them, including four seriously.
The ministry said fires broke out on both tankers but were brought under control and condemned the attack as a serious breach of international law.
"The UAE reserves its full right to respond to this escalation and to take all necessary measures to protect its territory, its citizens and residents," the defense ministry added.
The UAE used similar language before launching attacks against Iran during the war. Fighter jets could be heard overheard Tuesday morning in Dubai.
Bahrain also came under renewed attack overnight as Iran retaliated over the latest round of US Arclight airstrike ...KABOOM!... s. Bahrain sounded its missile alert siren, urging the public to seek shelter. There was no word on any damage or casualties from the attack.
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps later grabbed credit for the attacks, saying the two "offending supertankers" were hit and disabled after ignoring warnings, turning off navigation systems and attempting to pass through "a mined route."
The IRGC, in a statement to Iranian media, said the US was "inciting vessels to use an illegal route" and that cooperation with the "aggressor enemy" would result in damage, delays in reopening the strait and a global energy crisis.
Regarding its drone and missile attacks on Bahrain, the IRGC claimed to target "several weapons support warehouses, a satellite communications center and the residential building for US forces in Bahrain."
The incidents, which followed earlier exchanges of missile and drone attacks, extended the hostilities that followed Iran’s announcement at the weekend that it was closing the Strait of Hormuz, casting further doubt on an interim deal to halt the war and driving oil prices higher.
"The Hormuz Strait is OPEN, and will remain OPEN, with or without Iran. We are reinstating THE IRANIAN BLOCKADE," Trump insisted earlier on Monday on Truth Social.
"The U.S.A. will be, from this point forward, known as ’THE GUARDIAN OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT,’ but as such, and as a matter of FAIRNESS, will be reimbursed, at the rate of 20% on all cargo shipped."
Iran’s top joint military command said the US had no role in determining the future of the waterway and would not be allowed to intervene. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi wrote on X that Tehran was the guardian of the strait and would remain so "forever," adding in response to Trump’s comments that: "20% is of course too much. We will be fair."
