6 " Arlington Farms was a temporary wartime housing complex built in 1942–1943 by the U.S. Federal Works Agency to house female civil servants and military servicewomen during World War II Wikipedia+1. It was located on the former site of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Arlington Experimental Farm, on the historic Custis-Lee estate grounds in Arlington County, Virginia, just over the Arlington Memorial Bridge from Washington, D.C.

The complex was nicknamed “Girl Town” and housed up to 4,275 young women, many working at nearby government and military facilities such as the Pentagon, Navy Annex, and Arlington Hall Station"

Arlington Hall Station was headquarters of the U.S. Army’s Signal Intelligence Service (SIS) during World War II and for its later service as a major U.S. Army intelligence command now located at Fort Belvoir, VA.

Girls back at work at "The Station" at the graphic below. The Pom's had Bletchley Park. We had The Station. All behind the Green Door. Note the 'burn-bag' at the lower left. Visited the Park a few years ago. The doors to the WWII facilities on the estate were painted Green. A coincidence or POM humor, not certain which.
