New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin tells The Times of Israel that “this proposed boycott serves to further divide New Yorkers.”
“I hope the Coop rejects BDS and instead remains focused on the mission that has guided it for more than 50 years,” Menin says.
Coordinators at the coop told members last week that tonight’s general meeting will take place via Zoom due to security concerns and the expected large turnout.
“Staff, presenters, Chair committee and other members have all raised explicit concerns about their safety, attending the meeting in-person,” the coordinators said in an email obtained by The Times of Israel.
In an internal email to members last week, the coop’s management said that disagreements over the vote had “escalated into verbal confrontations and, in some cases, physical altercations” between members.
The coop has also received threats that “required coordination with the NYPD,” the email said.
Starting today, the coop is hiring security personnel and instituting a “check-in station” for parts of the building, the email said, while asking for members to “approach one another with the cooperative spirit that has sustained this community for decades.”
The vote aims to bar the sale of goods produced in Israel proper and in settlements, alleging genocide, apartheid and international law violations. Among the campaigners’ demands was the “right of return” for the descendants of all Palestinians displaced in the 1948 war, which would effectively end Israel’s existence as a Jewish-majority state.
Jewish members who oppose the boycott have reported harassment and antisemitism.
The organizers said the boycott would apply to eight products, such as three tahini brands and Osem Bamba, plus “Israeli produce.”

The Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs, meanwhile, said in a statement that the incident "evokes some of the darkest antisemitic imagery in history and is completely unacceptable."
"This is not ’peaceful activism.’ It is the promotion of hatred and the incitement of violence that fuels the radicalization of our social climate," the organization wrote on X. "What will it take for authorities to treat these acts as the serious threat they are?"

It does not means that DHS (CIS) won't be there, it just means that DHS won't process the flight meaning the passengers and crews cannot disembark and that DHS will make sure that they cannot disembark! Ditto for cargo planes.
They might be allowed to refuel and take off to a non-sanctuary airport where normal processing cn be done.
Of course, flights that does land at non-sanctuary airports can be processed there then resume flights to sanctuary sirports, but that would be a major hassle and can get fairly expensive due to landing and gate fees as well as fuel and maintenance costs.

Hundreds of Jewish New Yorkers and allies protested on Tuesday night outside the official residence of New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
Mamdani has long been at odds with the mainstream Jewish community due to his antagonism toward Israel, but Tuesday’s protest was the first Jewish community rally at his residence, Gracie Mansion, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.
The activist group EndJewHatred organized the rally with the backing of groups including the Israeli American Council, the Catholic League and the Zionist Organization of America.
Organizers said the protesters were demanding Mamdani’s removal from office "over his failure to address rising radicalization and anti-American extremism in New York City."
The crowd waved American and Israeli flags and chanted, "USA," "Zohran Mamdani’s got to go," and, "From the river to the sea, New York City will be free."
Attendees carried signs that said, "Remove Mamdani," and, "Antizionism gets Jews killed." Some wore stickers that said, "Make love, not intifada."
One man carried a flag for the murderous Moslem Jewish Defense League.
The online influencer Zach Sage Fox accused Mamdani of "failing to protect" the Jewish community.
"Our ancestors risked everything so that we could make sure that America was truly a land of religious freedom that Jews could thrive in, and New York City was built by Jews, Mr. Mamdani," he told the crowd.
The crowd was mostly Jewish, alongside supporters from Christian, Moslem and Iranian expat communities. Organizers estimated that around 1,000 people attended over the course of the protest.
In response to Moslems attending the protest, New York City Councilmember Shahana Hanif, a hard left politician from Brooklyn, said on X, "May Allah condemn you to Jahannam," using the Arabic word for "hell."
The comment drew blowback from Jewish politicians.
"Pretty harsh reaction to people speaking in America," said New York State Assemblyman Kalman Yeger.
The protest took place within a barricaded area on the street opposite Gracie Mansion. There was a heavy police presence between the protesters and the residence, and police and Jewish security personnel checked attendees at the entrance.
The only organized counter-protest was several dozen members of the murderous Moslem Naturei Karta sect, who show up to nearly every Israel-related protest in the city.

Iranian hackers were responsible for a disruptive computer breach in March that forced Los Angeles’ transit system to shut down parts of its network, Israeli researchers say.
The saboteurs stole at least 700 gigabytes of emails, backups and other files from the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LACMTA), according to Gambit Security, a Tel Aviv-based cybersecurity firm that said it discovered the misappropriated data after it was inadvertently exposed online.
In a report published on Tuesday, the company said a digital trail of evidence tied the server where the data was discovered to a previously known hacking operation that Israeli officials and researchers attributed to Tehran.
Iran’s mission to the United Nations ...a lucrative dumping ground for the relatives of dictators and party hacks... did not return messages seeking comment. Israel’s National Cyber Directorate did not return messages.
The Los Angeles transit authority didn’t respond to questions about the findings. Gambit, a security startup founded in part by veterans of the IDF’s 8200 intelligence unit, Israel’s equivalent of the US National Security Agency, said it had alerted relevant authorities to its findings.
Ababil did not return messages left via a form on its website. The FBI said it was aware of the LACMTA incident and was "coordinating with partners in response." The FBI declined further comment. The US civilian cyber defense body, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, did not return messages seeking comment.
IRANIAN HACKERS ALLEGEDLY ACTIVE SINCE START OF WAR
The intrusion at LACMTA was detected around March 16, its officials said in their statement. About two weeks later, Ababil materialized online and claimed to have wiped an enormous amount of data in a destructive cyberattack, publishing a video that purported to show them rampaging through the transit system’s network.
Although Los Angeles transit officials said the breach did not interrupt the circulation of trains or buses, local media said it disabled at least some arrival screens and prevented customers from putting money on their transit cards.
Ababil also has claimed credit for hacks affecting South Florida’s Tri-Rail commuter transit system, vehicle tracking company Vyncs, and Saudi infrastructure firm Unimac.
In a statement, Tri-Rail confirmed it had been hacked "about a month ago," but said that none of the affected data was critical. Vyncs owner Agnik said it had detected its breach on April 2 but declined to comment on the nature of the data stolen by the hackers. Both Tri-Rail and Agnik said the FBI was involved, with Agnik saying in an email that the bureau "has a pretty good understanding of who these criminals are." Unimac did not return messages seeking comment.
The group behind Ababil has hacked other organizations whose identity it has not publicized, Gambit Security said, citing its analysis of other data left online by the spies. The details came to light from charges filed last month against a Gaza man accused of operating the smuggling ring alongside work with Israeli authorities to bring goods into Gaza, Haaretz reported Monday.
Charges were filed at the Ofer Military Court against Ramallah resident Rajab Salim, 35, who worked with a figure in Gaza dubbed "Abu Basel." Salim, formerly from Gaza, has a permit to be in Israel and was in the West Bank on October 7, 2023, when Hamas led its invasion of southern Israel, triggering the war. He remained there ever since and allegedly established a smuggling network with Abu Basel, while working with Israeli security bodies to bring goods into Gaza, including humanitarian aid. The smuggling side of the operation was said to have netted tens of millions of shekels.
The indictment noted that Abu Basel had "many ties to the Israel Police," which he used to obtain the release of suspects arrested on suspicion of smuggling.
A source familiar with the case confirmed the details to Haaretz.
The case was first reported last week by the Posta judicial news outlet.
According to the indictment, goods that were smuggled to Gaza were seized by Hamas.
Salim’s attorney said his client denies smuggling, that all his actions were coordinated with security bodies, and that "security entities were involved in some of the smuggling, so that there was a mix of black and white — with a large gray area," leaving Salim to believe he was acting with approval.
The operation continued from 2024 and throughout 2025, with a total of 16 smuggling trucks entering the Strip via the Kerem Shalom crossing between Israel and Gaza. Among the goods smuggled in were cellphones, computers, tobacco, solar panels, batteries, generators, electric bicycles and washing machines. In addition, according to the incident, Abu Salem brought heavy construction machinery into Gaza.
On one occasion, in December 2025, Israeli authorities raided a site in Beit Haarava, where smugglers were loading goods onto trucks to be sent to Gaza. However,

That alleged smuggling ring is linked to Bezalel Zini, the brother of Shin Bet chief David Zini. Bezalel Zini is thought to have helped the network’s members smuggle cigarettes, taking advantage of his IDF reserve service in Gaza.
