WHERE is the Rust justice? Exactly one year after Alec Baldwin fatally shot Halyna Hutchins, FEMAIL investigates why there are STILL no charges - or even sheriff's report - as filming gets set to resume... with late cinematographer's widower as a producer
[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Seems like a payoff settlement was reached.
  • It has now been exactly one year since Alec Baldwin, 64, accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Hutchins on set of his movie Rust - and after 365 days, no charges have been made in relation to the tragic shooting

  • On October 21, 2021, Baldwin and Hutchins were rehearsing a scene for the Western film when he pointed a 'prop firearm' at her and it accidentally went off - hitting the 42-year-old in the chest and killing her

  • The actor has continuously insisted that he thought the gun was loaded with blanks and that he never actually pulled the trigger - but the FBI has since ruled that the weapon could not have fired on its own

  • The incident posed a lot of questions - why was the gun loaded with real bullets? How did it go off? Why wasn't more done to ensure the crew's safety? And why hasn't anyone been arrested for Hutchins death?

  • Over the course of the last 12 months, very little of these questions have been answered; and now, the District Attorney's office told DailyMail.com that they're 'still waiting' for the Santa Fe County Sheriff's report

  • It was recently announced that production of Rust will restart in early 2023, with Hutchins' husband joining as a producer; he previously filed a wrongful-death lawsuit against the movie but has reached a settlement
"Ya know what would really honor my wife's memory? Make me an Executive Producer and give me a lot of money. Whatshername would want it that way"

WATCH: Former Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard married
[Jpost] Jonathan Pollard married Rebecca Abrahams-Doninon on Thursday evening, Israeli media reported.

The wedding comes just around a year after the passing of Pollard's wife, Esther. Rebecca Pollard is a widow and mother of seven from Jerusalem.

Pollard was a spy for Israel in the United States. However, he was caught and received a life sentence behind bars for his actions. He is the only American in US history to receive a life sentence for spying for an ally, and the only one to serve more than 10 years in prison for the crime.

On November 15, 2015, Pollard was released on parole after serving 30 years of a life sentence. He and his then-wife, Esther, were finally able to return to Israel on December 30, 2020.

Squirrel blamed for power outage affecting nearly 2,000 in Oregon
[UPI] A power outage that affected 1,953 customers in Oregon was blamed on a single culprit: a squirrel.

Portland General Electric said 1,953 customers in East Salem lost power about 10:42 a.m. Tuesday and the power was restored at 12:07 p.m.

PGE said a squirrel was to blame for the outage, but the specifics of the animal's actions were unclear.

Dominion Energy said about 10,000 customers in Virginia lost power in September when a squirrel came into contact with substation equipment. Power was restored after about an hour.

Elon Musk planning to cut 75% of Twitter workforce: report
[NYPOST] Billionaire Elon Musk told prospective investors in his deal to buy Twitter that he planned to get rid of nearly 75% of the social media company’s 7,500 workers, the Washington Post reported on Thursday, citing interviews and certain documents.

The job cuts are expected in the coming months, no matter who owns the company, according to the report.

Twitter’s current management planned to pare the company’s payroll by about $800 million by the end of next year, a number that would mean the departure of nearly a quarter of the workforce, the report said.

Human resources staff at the social media company have told employees that they were not planning for mass layoffs, but documents showed extensive plans to push out staff and cut down on infrastructure costs were already in place before Musk offered to buy the company, the Washington Post reported.

The job cuts are expected in the coming months, no matter who owns the company, the Washington Post reported.

Twitter did not immediately respond to a Rooters request for comment.

Musk had tried to walk away from the deal to buy Twitter in July alleging the company understated the number of bot and spam accounts on the social media platform, which started a series of lawsuits between the two parties.

Earlier this month, Musk reversed course and said he will proceed with the deal on original terms.

#8  Don’t discount tge possibility that the Muskrat engineered this outcome. ZERO:

“when Delaware Chancery court is about to rule that you must consummate your $44 billion acquisition of a company that, as SNAP today showed, is worth less than $10 billion, your best... no, your only bet is to force the government to step in and demand the deal falls apart. And how do you do that? Why demand the judge pushes back the court case by a few weeks in which you blast out what to the Biden admin seems to be unhinged pro-Putin propaganda.

Well, Elon old chap, golf clap to a beautifully executed plan.

And while the world's richest man would never come out and confirm any this, he did the next best thing late on Thursday when in response to a fellow reader’s reaction to the Bloomberg article, that “It would be hysterical if the government stopped Elon from over paying for Twitter", Musk responded simply "💯🤣"...

Because the collapse of the deal would be just what Musk wanted (and intended) from the very beginning.

Posted by: Sletch Untervehr7450 || 10/21/2022 9:57 Comments || Top||

#9  The Muskrat is saving himself and his investors about $30 billion that he would have torched had the deal gone through at his ridiculous, 4-times-NPV valuation for that TWTR piece of shit.

Wonder how many of the spooks on the CFIUS panel he bribed? Remember: “just like the infamous FISA courts, the CFIUS panel operates in total secrecy, behind closed doors, and rarely confirms when it is conducting reviews. CFIUS also holds the power to review deals that have already been consummated... such as Musk's acquisition of twitter. “

Six Chinese nationals charged with harassing, trying to coerce US resident to return to China
[FoxNews] The scheme was part of China's 'Operation Fox Hunt,' which aims to target dissidents abroad.

Six Chinese nationals were charged on Thursday in a scheme to harass and coerce a Chinese national who lives in the U.S. to return to his homeland, according to an indictment unsealed in federal court.

Quanzhong An, 55, and his daughter, Guangyang An, 34, who are both residents of Roslyn, New York, were arrested on Thursday morning and charged with conspiring to act as agents of the People's Republic of China (PRC), conspiring to commit interstate and international stalking and money laundering.

They allegedly acted on behalf of four individuals associated with the PRC's Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection – Tian Peng, Chenghua Chen, Chunde Ming, Xuexin Hou, and Weidong Yuan.

"The victims in this case sought to flee an authoritarian government, leaving behind their lives and family, for a better life here," FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Michael Driscoll said in a statement on Thursday. "That same government sent agents to the United States to harass, threaten, and forcibly return them to the People's Republic of China."

Quanzhong An is accused of harassing both the victim and his family members to try to coerce him to return to China. A family member of the victim who still lives in China was escorted to New York under the guise of an international tour in 2018.

That family member met with the main victim's son and told him in a recorded conversation that "leadership in China would like to encourage the elite overseas Chinese to return."

In a series of meetings from 2020 to 2022, Quanzhong An allegedly met with the victim's son and said he was motivated by the Chinese government's need to "save their faces" and repatriate as many Chinese fugitives as possible, according to the indictment.

The four suspects who live in China are still at large. Quanzhong An and Guangyang An were scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday afternoon.

The scheme was part of the Chinese government's "Operation Fox Hunt," which FBI Director Christopher Wray says was spearheaded by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2014 to "target Chinese nationals whom he sees as threats and who live outside China, across the world."

"We’re talking about political rivals, dissidents, and critics seeking to expose China’s extensive human rights violations," Wray said in a speech in July 2020.

"The Chinese government wants to force them to return to China, and China’s tactics to accomplish that are shocking."

The Chinese Embassy in the U.S. did not return a request for comment on Thursday.

The Green Tax: Electric Vehicle Owners Shocked by Battery Replacements Costing $20,000+
[Breitbart] Canadian Electric vehicle (EV) owners have been shocked to find out that battery replacements for their cars, especially older models, tops $20,000. One EV owner shared his experience, saying: "At the dealership, he looked it up online and said you’re not going to like this," before delivering a bill of $15,000 plus labor and taxes.

"I don’t understand why they make the battery so expensive when you have to change it," Phyllis Lau, who owns a 2018 KIA Soul all-electric vehicle, told CTV News Toronto.

Lau’s electric SUV came with a warranty for the battery that covers 160,000 kilometers (99,419 miles), or eight years, whichever comes first. This year, her EV clocked in more than 170,000 kilometers, meaning the warranty no longer covers the battery.

When the battery failed, Lau took the vehicle to her local dealership, where she was told a battery replacement, after labor and taxes, would come to $23,000. KIA reportedly agreed to foot half the bill, even though the EV was outside the warranty period.

"They won’t fully cover the cost," Lau said. "They say the best they can do is half and half."

Ken Edwardson, another Canadian EV owner, purchased a used 2011 Lincoln MKZ hybrid four years ago, and was shocked to learn that replacing the battery, also after labor and taxes, comes to about $20,000.

#1  Doesn't $20k typically exceed the net value of most used EV's? Would bank refin the replacement?

Hell a gas rebuilt replacement engine would only run around $3,500.

BTW: what is environmental impact and desposial charges for the dead battery?

Pfizer expects to raise COVID vaccine price to $110-$130 per dose
[Reuters via Nasdak] Pfizer Inc PFE.N expects to raise the price of its COVID-19 vaccine to about $110 to $130 per dose after the United States government's current purchase program expires, Pfizer executive Angela Lukin said on a call with analysts on Thursday.

Lukin said she expects the vaccine will be made available at no cost to people who have private insurance or government paid insurance.

The U.S. government currently provides the vaccine for free to all but pays about $30 per dose to Pfizer and German partner BioNTech SE 22UAy.DE. In 2023, the market is expected to move to private insurance after the U.S. public health emergency expires.

It is not yet clear what kind of access people without health insurance will have to the vaccine.

Pfizer said it expects the COVID-19 market to be about the size of the flu shot market on an annual basis for adults, but that the pediatric market would take longer to build based on shots given so far.

Reuters earlier on Thursday reported that Wall Street was expecting such price hikes due to weak COVID vaccine demand.

Lukin said she does not expect purchasing of the vaccines to transfer to the private sector until the first quarter of 2023 "at the earliest." The move is dependent on the government contracted supply being depleted.

#6  Just in time for mandatory shots for school. How weird.

Pfizer said it expects the COVID-19 market to be about the size of the flu shot market on an annual basis for adults, but that the pediatric market would take longer to build based on shots given so far.

So they admit, right there in front of your nose, it is a market driven decision.

Reuters earlier on Thursday reported that Wall Street was expecting such price hikes due to weak COVID vaccine demand.

Bull Shit.

Are they going to test this one first?

#8  If I understand things right, and help me if I'm off here, but what seems to be in the works is perpetual immunity from prosecution, the reasoning being that if children are required to get jabbed in order to attend school, or at least the broad recommendation to get jabbed as part of their yearly shots, then this is an ongoing emergency thus emergency powers stay in place 'until the emergency is resolved.'

Testing is expensive and may show a flawed product, and if they are immune to damages, why?

Call this a modified Epi Pen - remember back when the price of an Epi Pen like tripled almost overnight, and then a couple days later a law passed requiring a certain number of Epi Pens to be available at all times, at every school? I think every federal building as well. IIRC alternative treatments (generic brands) were outlawed and their proponents branded a public nuisance for wanting to play with peoples' lives.

AOC busts a move after protesters crash town hall
[NYP] Sometimes, you’ve just gotta dance.

Drumming protesters crashed another town hall event hosted by far-left Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) Wednesday night, with the "Squad" member eventually bopping along to their rhythmic chants.

Video of the protest in Queens showed demonstrators chanting "AOC has got to go" and holding up signs denouncing the 33-year-old congresswoman while a man with a hand drum pounds out a beat.

The loud jeering and chanting left Ocasio-Cortez with nothing better to do than show off her moves while she sat on the edge of a stage.

At one point, the lawmaker appeared to spot a sign in the crowd reading, "Wake up New York. Vote for Tina Forte. F—k

Grifting been berry berry good to Sandy. A much more lucrative gig than being a bartender, even with a nice rack.
