2 Just heard a piece about this on NPR (National People's Radio). The ladies were horrified, judging from the sneering voices. The tl;dr was that this new technology interferes with people's right to fight with the police.

They also pointed out acquisition of the gloves was done through a no-bid contract. Oh noes!
(Spoiler: there is only *one* company that makes these things. At least until they catch on)

An NPR tell I have noticed lately is that every one of their ICE stories includes the word "cruelty". In this case, it was "agency personal with a track record of abuse and even cruelty". The other day, it was "a reputation for cruelty". Makes one think they might be trying to sell something.

4 The image on their home page shows a glove bulky enough to interfere with using other tools. I wonder how many scenarios give you time to haul out and pull on gloves...
