2 One in three adults under 35 lives with parents as housing costs soar, data shows

About 70% of those living with parents have jobs, pointing to a supply crisis

Millions of young adults are delaying life on their own as high housing costs keep them living with mom and dad. In 2025, 25.2 million adults under 35 lived with a parent, according to new data from Realtor.com. That amounts to roughly one in three people in that age group.

The numbers point to a housing market that remains difficult to break into, even for young adults with jobs and college degrees, the outlet reported.

"The adults living with their parents today are largely employed, and many hold college degrees," Hannah Jones, senior economist at Realtor.com, said in a statement. "What's holding them back isn't a lack of qualifications, but rather, at least in part, a lack of housing they can actually afford. This is a supply story, not an employment story."

3 If congress critters want to do something about affordability they should stop spending like drunken sailors. They've run up the national debt to nearly $40 trillion and still climbing. They borrow money and print money. All that printing devalues the dollar so that everything is about a thousand times more expensive than it was before LBJ tried to finance the Vietnam War at the same time as his Great Society. Taxes rose while the value of a dollar fell. This is not rocket science, it's Econ 101.

I tried to explain this a long time ago. In 1969 my dad bought a Pontiac Catalina for $3000. They don't make 'em like that anymore but if they did it'd cost upwards of $60-$70-$80 thousand today even though the supply of new cars on the market is plenty. If the cost of cars has risen that much, so has the cost of a house.

In southern California, politicians and developers have been crying about affordable housing for as long as I can remember and that's a long, long time. They've been building as fast as they can for decades and the cost of housing keeps skyrocketing in spite of all their building. Everything the politicians and developers say is a lie. It's all lies.

We don't need another massive government spending program to reduce the cost of housing. All that's going to do is enrich the people who contribute to election campaigns. What we need is for Congress to cut spending and reduce the national debt.

Trump is right. We need the SAVE Act more than anything.

4 I got an idea, why not eliminate property taxes on houses that cost oh say 250 thousands or less and charge higher property taxes on houses that cost more, maybe on a steep sliding scale.

Make it illegal to buy those house for investment or rental property purposes.

5 ^The problem there is I have a bungalow built in 1951, 2br, 1 1/2 bath, 1240’ .

But because they knock these homes down to build McMansions in Brookhaven, GA. We get offers weekly for $650-700k so they can knock it down

I can eat from everywhere cheap and I can walk to downtown Brookhaven on Dresden

I get frustrated by the fact we have 3 full time arborists and they want 6, I have to beg for tree removal but if it sells, they can clear cut it. That’s the dichotomy that drives me insane
