1 Info also in the Washington Post. The Ford is allegedly in the Red Sea. If it returns via the Suez Canal it is a static display whilst going thru the locks. Not much maneuvering room against a missile there and it'd shut down the Canal until salvaged. The alternative course is to run the Houthi gauntlet. Neither one is a preferred route.

Going past the Houthis would be on the way to the Red Sea and Suez. It's a twofer.
The other choice is all the way around Africa.

4 Duh! Thank' MW - I absolutely didn't know that! Just assumed it was was like the Panama Canal. I've seen that one but not the Suez. I'll knock out 50 for you
