Public Hangings are what is needed.

Because, what deterrent does a closed door peaceful by death by being put to sleep, do as a public deterrent?

Why should a murder be comfortably housed, medically treated and well-fed, while we have homeless VETs and other good citizens on the streets and/or need of the same comforts?

Also, why do some executions take as much as 20+ years, after being found guilty?

Because the ruling class (which includes judges) think its icky and unworthy of a modern society, damn what others want. Didn't take long for Tim McVeigh to be executed when the crime is aimed at them.

This is where yesterday's story about freezing and thawing rotifers comes in. Rather than housing criminals, simply stash them in cold storage until it is time to thaw them out for release. Saves on space and costs for feeding and housing.

Public Hangings are what is needed.

I am not so sure. It would make for a nice community bonding event, no doubt. And serve as a morality lesson to law-abiding people who probably don't need it. A lot of heinous crimes like school shootings seem to have a desire for fame as a motivation. A public hanging only feeds that. I say "Send them to the protein banks!" and let us speak their name no more while their proteins nourish the community.
