4 Often, seeing a plane climbing out of SAN, I've found myself thinking, "like a bat outta hell." One of my dad's phrases, that. If the plane's popped up in an unexpected spot it might be climbing "like a bat outta... Tijuana." And then there's the smell. File under stream of California eco-consciousness.
