17 It sounds like our on onboarding process is reading the articles and choosing to join the conversation. There is no registration, no fee, anyone can submit articles, and the archives are open to the public.

It sounds like Jairong is complaining that our people choose to be a bit rough around the edges instead of displaying the delicacy appropriate to tea with the general’s wife — which a number of them are quite able to do. I myself have never been hosted by anyone higher than a dowager Gräfin (a German countess), which is probably just as well.
