2 Initially, leftists prevented the expansion of nuclear power. Then they prevented any increase in conventional power capacity as well. Finally, they sued and regulated a reduction of all non-renewable capacity. Now we are trying to implement AI.

4 Yes, Grom, the hazards of nuclear power are a concern even for IT guys like me.

Sometimes, like right now, and when I used to sit in the clean computer rooms programming until my poor little fingers were sore, I think about my grandfather who mined coal until he died of black lung disease at the age of 61, long before I was even born. I could never tell him how I felt about the sacrifices that men like him made for my career. I'm not sure I could put it into words if I met him face to face even now.

We get energy from burning things and some of the things we burn are more hazardous than others. I guess it's better than freezing your ass off in a blizzard. I think natural gas is the cleanest and we have that in abuncance. Someday, maybe, they'll figure out how to make nuclear power plants that are safe.
