My read on history is that if they aren’t nipped in the bud fairly early, they can be stopped at great cost later. Look at ISIS in Iraq and Syria, for a perfect example.

But neo-Nazis are such losers that they never get past grandiose plans to actually do something. I see no indication that white supremacists (and Black supremacists as well) are any better at moving beyond big talk and some bullying to actual conquest. Conquest takes discipline, large numbers, and supplies. ISIS had large numbers, enough supplies to get started, and a justified reputation for viciousness. They derived from Al Qaeda in Iraq, which took the locals’ daughters for wives and sons for servants and pleasure, but also from time to time baked babies into a casserole that they served to the its parents for for the shock value.
