6 Cut it even more! The amount of air travel should only be set by the system's limit to safely handle what can be put in the patterns. It's been overtaxed for way too long to satisfy an business that is only focused on how many seats it can fill. Fewer flights then fewer seats. Demand out paces supply, then the price will go up. Maybe that will help reduce the amount of uncivilized that are allowed to be transported.

7 IF the US could get serious about independent Hi-Speed Rail (Japan Speeds) used only for People hauling w/o freight or Traffic crossings between Major cities it would cut down the travel times for many trips. Given 30-60mile drive to MAJOR Airport, then wait 1+ hr to board, then more to depart, fly and then more of the same on the other end. Many <500 mile flights could be eliminated.

12 Tracks are owned by the private railroads. Amtrak leases the use. Freight has priority. Urban sprawl where high speed might be useful also kills any possibility because of property rights and endless court obstructions to laying new rails.
