Trump upends China's lucrative sanctioned oil import scheme after Iran, Venezuela interventions

1 For years, China relied on exploiting U.S. sanctions to import steeply discounted oil from pariah states like Iran and Venezuela to fuel its economy and military buildup.

So is it safe to say the sanctions helped China far more than they hurt Iran and Venezuela? So much for sanctions. And now, even though oil is more expensive for China, it is also more expensive for us. I'm not arguing against what Trump has done to Iran and Venezuela and, if it hurts China too, that's fine. My fear is that Trump will pay a price for it in the November mid-term elections for Congress.
