9 Powerline: The perpetrator has been identified as Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old resident of South Minneapolis. Pretti was employed at the University of Minnesota and more recently has qualified as a nurse. He was a lawful gun owner.

More details will emerge as Pretti’s social media accounts are scoured, but it is reasonable to expect that he was a lefty who was incited by insurrectionists like Tim Walz and Jacob Frey to think it would be virtuous to try to interfere with federal law enforcement, a federal crime; to consider it reasonable to bring a gun along as he interfered with law enforcement; and to fight law enforcement officers while in possession of a pistol.

11 They’ve decided we’re only going down to 13*F here instead of 5*F. About 1/3” snow over the last three hours, so we probably won’t get as much snow as predicted, either. Bread, canned soups, and bottled water shelves were half emptied at my local Kroger, though there was still plenty of the less favoured flavours and lots of toilet paper left on the shelves, and the store manager was pushing her people to clear the shopping carts and empty garbage cans in the parking lot to leave it free for the snow plow later.
