Some matters which affect server security are coming in the future, matters which will/could affect server security.
For example, Google creating a chip which uses qubits (0s and higher) instead of bits (0s and 1s). The quantum computer Google has built claims to be able to solve complex computation equations faster by several orders of magnitude than the most advanced computers now extant. This could potentially affect critical matters such as financial and medical data.
Us? Not so much because all of our data is open anyway. We just want to preserve its integrity. We can do that by implementing a more robust security architecture.
As I understand it, Apache web server does have additional ciphers, which are much more complex than the ones the Apache web server now uses. FreeBSD can access/use those ciphers, but the web server must be set up to recognize the use of the more advanced ciphers. FreeBSD does have ciphers embedded in its security architecture now, just not the more advanced ones.
At the moment, I am continuing to keep the web server from being overwhelmed by external threats; I will in time implement the new security there before on the main server.

A man in Florida has been arrested for breaking the window of a synagogue in the city of Sarasota in what police said was a hate crime intentionally targeting the Jewish community.
In a statement on Friday, the Sarasota Police Department said it had arrested Brayton Laschinger, a 30-year-old resident of the city, for smashing the window of the Chabad of Downtown SRQ.
According to police, Laschinger — wearing a blue towel over his head — threw a brick through the window of the synagogue around 6 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
"Laschinger claims that the same morning he saw propaganda on social media and that was making him mad," the police statement said. "He admitted to detectives that he threw the brick at the window of the synagogue because it was a Jewish place of worship."
Police said that Laschinger is facing a felony charge of criminal mischief of a religious building as a hate crime.
According to a local Florida news report, police said the estimated value for repairing the damages caused by the brick was more than $5,000. The report said that Laschinger’s roommate helped police identify him based on the video footage.

A New York City district attorney on Friday arraigned a suspect on hate crimes charges for antisemitic vandalism, weeks after the man was indicted on manslaughter charges for the death of a Jewish journalist.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said that Dawood Faisal, 22, had been arraigned on hate crimes charges for destroying property in May at a kosher bagel shop that had Israeli flags outside.
On May 15, Faisal upended nine plant stands outside the shop, Bagels & Co., spilling dirt and plants on the sidewalk in front of the business. He then threw fistfuls of the dirt at the shop, Katz said.
A week later, Faisal knocked over 11 plant stands at the shop, picked up the plant pots, and emptied the pots onto the sidewalk. Some pots were too large to knock over, so he ripped the plants out of them, Katz said.
Neighborhood residents and Jewish community activists rallied at the shop after the vandalism in a show of solidarity.
Faisal was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree as a hate crime, criminal mischief in the fourth degree as a hate crime, criminal mischief in the third degree, and criminal mischief in the fourth degree.
He faces a maximum of seven years in prison if convicted.
In June, Faisal was arraigned for manslaughter, assault and other charges related to a vehicular incident that killed Cara Trager, 71. There did not appear to be a direct connection between the car crash and the vandalization.
While driving, Faisal allegedly sped through two red lights and smashed into two other vehicles. One of the cars he struck veered into a crosswalk, striking Trager and her husband, who was injured, Katz said.
Faisal had been driving more than 75 miles per hour in a 35-mile-per-hour zone, Katz said.
Faisal attempted to flee the scene on foot, but was apprehended by passersby, Katz said.
Trager was a journalist based in Queens, a beloved member of the Jewish community, and a supporter of local Jewish institutions, such as the Solomon Schechter School of Queens, and the family’s synagogue, Etz Hayim at Hollis Hills Bayside.
Jews are targeted in hate crimes in New York City more than all other groups combined.
QNS adds that Mr. Dawood of Fresh Meadows is facing more than 15 years if convicted of ten counts including vehicular manslaughter for his June attack. At his arraignment he pled not guilty and was remanded to custody without bail, which makes it interesting that he was free to vandalize so quickly thereafter.

Two recent interdictions along the Texas-Mexico border highlight the dangerous tactics used by cartel-connected human smugglers, hoping to beat President Trump’s strict border security measures.
The images of outdoor staging areas manned by Border Patrol agents accepting the surrender of thousands of illegal aliens are now replaced by photos of filthy, unsanitary stash houses the smuggling networks are using to wait for optimal times to move illegal aliens away from the immediate border. During the Biden border crisis, hundreds of thousands of migrants like these would have been released from custody to pursue fake asylum claims in the United States.
The stash houses, often lacking working restrooms, air conditioning, or clean water, are overcrowded as patrols on roadways leading away from the border have increased amid surging staffing within federal border security agencies. If smugglers can avoid attracting the attention of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents, the trek through the heavily patrolled highways to the U.S. interior makes reaching the interior an equally daunting endeavor.
In Carrizo Springs, Texas, some 40 miles from the Mexican border, and the once-busy border crossing area surrounding Eagle Pass, Border Patrol agents found nearly two dozen illegal aliens crammed into a hidden compartment under the floor of a utility trailer. The group of men and women was crammed into the tight compartment with no easy means of escape, according to arresting agents.
In an announcement by the agency on Thursday, the Border Patrol emphasized the disregard for the safety of the human cargo by cartel smugglers, saying, “With no easy means of escape and soaring summer temperatures, this smuggling operation showed a callous disregard for human life.” The smugglers now face prosecution and the loss of the vehicle and trailer used in the failed smuggling venture.
A day earlier, in the Rio Grande Valley community of Edinburg, Texas, smugglers never made it out onto the highway with their human cargo. Border Patrol agents working alongside HSI special agents pursuing an investigative lead began surveilling a location believed to be used by a smuggling network operating in the Texas Rio Grande Valley. The agents observed a vehicle departing the location under surveillance and summoned local authorities from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office to assist in the case.
According to a report by myRGV.com, the vehicle was observed heading to a local grocery store nearby in Alamo, Texas. Deputies from Hidalgo County performed a vehicle stop on the suspicious vehicle and discovered the driver, later identified as Misael Dominguez-Penagos, an illegal alien from Mexico, was transporting two other illegal aliens in the vehicle.
Agents returned to the house where Dominguez-Penagos was first observed and searched the residence, where 22 additional illegal aliens were discovered awaiting transport into the interior of the United States. According to court documents, the illegally present smuggled aliens were from Mexico, Guatemala, Colombia, El Salvador, Venezuela, and Honduras.
Dominguez-Penagos told investigators he was being paid to transport and harbor the illegal aliens and had been employed by the smuggling network involved for several months. Dominguez-Penagos was arraigned in federal court on Friday and is being held without bond.

Al-Shabaab militants have claimed to have seized control of Teedaan, a strategically located area in Somalia’s central Hiraan region, following hours of fierce fighting with Somali government forces and allied local fighters.
Reports from the area said the clashes began on Sunday morning and continued into the late afternoon, involving heavy weapons and sustained exchanges of gunfire.
Teedaan had reportedly served as one of the Somali National Army’s most important defensive positions in eastern Hiraan and as a frontline base for operations against Al-Shabaab.
In a statement released by its military command, the Al-Qaeda-linked group said its fighters had taken complete control of the settlement following battles that occurred on Saturday and Sunday.
Al-Shabaab also claimed that 100 government soldiers and allied fighters were killed or wounded during the operation. The casualty figures could not be independently verified, and the Somali government had not issued an official response confirming the loss of Teedaan or the number of casualties by the time of publication.
There was also no independently verified information regarding casualties suffered by Al-Shabaab during the fighting.
STRATEGIC IMPORTANCE OF TEEDAAN
Teedaan is a rural settlement administered under the Maxaas district and situated in eastern Hiraan, an area that has become one of the most contested fronts in Somalia’s campaign against Al-Shabaab.
Although Teedaan is not a major urban centre, its strategic importance comes from its location along a network of rural roads and military movement corridors connecting several government and militant positions across central Somalia.
Al-Shabaab ... Somalia's version of the Taliban, functioning as an arm of al-Qaeda... claimed on Monday that it had seized the strategic village of Teedaan in central Somalia’s Hiiraan region after two days of fighting with government troops and allied clan militias.
In a statement released through its media channels, the Islamist bully boy group said it had driven Somali government forces from the area during festivities on Saturday and Sunday and captured weapons, military vehicles and other equipment.
The group also claimed to have killed 41 government soldiers and allied local fighters, including officers, and said it had seized a technical vehicle mounted with an anti-aircraft gun along with other military supplies.
Al-Shabaab further said part of the casualties resulted from a suicide kaboom that it claimed took place about five kilometres (three miles) from Teedaan during the fighting.
The claims could not be independently verified, and the Somali federal government and military authorities had not immediately commented on the reported festivities or the group’s assertions.
The fighting is part of ongoing confrontations between Somali government forces, backed by allied Ma’awisley clan fighters in Hiiraan, and al-Shabaab, which has intensified attacks in parts of central Somalia despite sustained military operations against the group.
Teedaan is considered a strategic location in eastern Hiiraan, linking the regions of Hiiraan, Middle Shabelle and Galgaduud. Control of the area could affect the movement of military forces and supplies across the three regions.

Residents said intense fighting erupted after the militants attacked the position late Saturday night using heavy and light weapons. Jubaland forces stationed at the facility reportedly withdrew as the fighting intensified, allowing the attackers to enter and take control of the compound.

Troops of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation HADIN KAI, have conducted a clearance operation in Geidam Local Government Area of Yobe State following intelligence on the suspected convergence of terrorists in the area.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 2:10 p.m. on Aug. 1 by troops of B Company, Kanama, 159 Task Force Battalion, supported by members of the National Forest Guards.
The sources said the troops, mounted on one Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle and three gun trucks, advanced to Garin Gada village and Bulagra village to clear the area and deny terrorists freedom of action.
Although no contact was made with suspected insurgents during the operation, troops thoroughly searched the locations as part of ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorist activities and prevent the establishment of hideouts.

[Rudaw] The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Sunday that its forces have redirected 35 commercial vessels, disabled two, and boarded two others while enforcing Washington's maritime blockade against Iran, amid the renewed tensions between Washington and Tehran over the past few weeks.
In a post on X, CENTCOM announced the launch of its F-35C stealth fighter jet aircraft carrier though the Arabian Sea to fortify “the U.S. blockade against Iran,” adding that as of August 2, its forces had "redirected 35 commercial vessels, disabled 2, and boarded 2" during enforcement operations.
The latest figures mark an increase from Thursday after CENTCOM said it had redirected 24 commercial vessels, with the number of disabled and boarded ships unchanged. The Command has not publicly identified the redirected vessels or provided additional details regarding the latest operations.
The carrier deployments come as escalations between the US and Iran have intensified in recent weeks, extending beyond direct military strikes to include assaults on shipping routes, regional security, and commercial aviation, with looming threats of renewed military action pending an agreement over the management of the Strait of Hormuz.
[Dawn] Police have been placed on high alert across Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... following an attack on a cop shoppe and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) offices in Kharan by gunnies who entered the city late on Saturday night.
Sources said the attackers stormed the city cop shoppe, ransacked official records and set the building on fire. They also entered the CTD office, destroyed its record and later set the premises ablaze.
Officials said security forces rushed to the area after receiving information about the attack and launched operations against the attackers in different parts of Kharan city.
Heavy firing continued until late at night, while large contingents of Frontier Corps (FC) and police personnel were deployed at the entry and exit points of the city as well as other sensitive locations.
The armed attackers, who were reportedly in large numbers, later beat feet from Kharan.
A search operation by security forces was continuing. However,
a poor excuse is better than no excuse at all... no casualties were reported in the exchange of fire or during the attacks on the cop shoppe and CTD offices.
Following the incident, the authorities declared a province-wide high alert and directed all officials to immediately report to their respective cop shoppes. They were asked to remain fully armed and prepared for any emergency, while unnecessary movement was restricted as a precautionary measure.
[Dawn] At least 14 people, including police officials, were martyred and at least 18 others injured in a suicide kaboom on Swat’s Kabalcop shoppe on Sunday, police and rescue officials said.
Swat ...a valley and an administrative district in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province of Pakistain, located 99 mi from Islamabad. It is inhabited mostly by Pashto speakers. The place has gone steadily downhill since the days when Babe Ruth was the Sultan of Swat... police spokesperson Nasir Iqbal Karimi, while speaking to Dawn, confirmed the corpse count.
Malakand Division Deputy Inspector General of Police Fida Hussain told AFP that coppers were among those martyred.
He added that another body, suspected to be that of the bomber, had been brought to the hospital.
According to the Swat District Police Officer (DPO) Umar Khan, the jacket wallah detonated explosives after police personnel attempted to stop and search him at the entrance of the cop shoppe.
The DPO said that the police remained on high alert. "Security forces have cordoned off the area, and an investigation is underway to collect further evidence," he added.
The explosion occurred near the gate of Kabal cop shoppe while hundreds of people were participating in a public demonstration at nearby Kabal Chowk against the recent wave of terrorism in Swat Valley.
The bodies of nine victims were shifted to Central Hospital Saidu Sharif, while the bodies of five others were moved to Kabal Hospital, where doctors confirmed their deaths, said Rescue 1122 Spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi.
The spokesperson added that two of the injured are reported to be at death's door.
The powerful blast caused multiple casualties, prompting an immediate emergency response from police, rescue teams and local authorities. Security personnel also sealed off the area and launched a search operation.
The protest had drawn a large crowd from across the district and the attack occurred as the final speaker was addressing the crowd, triggering panic among participants. No group has grabbed credit for the attack.
Addressing the gathering before the blast, the speakers condemned the resurgence of terrorism in Swat and demanded that the government ensure lasting peace. They said their movement had a single agenda: the restoration of peace and the elimination of terrorism from the region.
[Dawn] Security forces have killed the mastermind behind the July 30 attack on a police checkpost in Hangu, which claimed the lives of nine police officials, a senior security official told Dawn on Sunday.
Security sources said the slain terrorist was identified as Amir Mauviya, and he was killed during an intelligence-based operation in Hangu’s Chapri Naryab.
According to the sources, the slain terrorist held an important position among Fitna-al-Khawarij in Kurram, and was wanted in several other terrorism cases.
Fitna-al-Khawarij is a term the state uses for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.
The sources added that under Operation 11 Garaj, operations against terrorists had been intensified.
The attack on the Khazina Banda checkpost had claimed the lives of nine police personnel, including a deputy superintendent of police, and left 28 injured. Police officials said an exchange of fire had broken out after the terrorists attacked the checkpost, and 15 terrorists were killed in retaliatory action.
More recently, two police personnel sustained minor injuries in an improvised explosive device explosion targeting a police van near Pir Zakorhi Bridge near the Peshawar-Islamabad motorway toll plaza on Sunday.
On July 29, a policeman was martyred and four terrorists were killed during an operation in Swat’s Matta tehsil, police and security sources said.
It was merely five days after a terrorist attack on a joint police checkpost in KP’s Tank district martyred 15 people, including 14 security personnel.
Among those martyred were 12 soldiers, two policemen and a government official, the military’s media affairs wing said.
It added that the attackers attempted to breach the checkpost’s perimeter, but their attempts were “swiftly and decisively foiled” by security forces, who eliminated 12 terrorists.
Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) said the attackers then rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the perimeter wall and infrastructure at the checkpost was seriously damaged by the impact of the resulting blast.
Security personnel and law enforcers have been coming under attack in KP, which continues to face terrorism.
According to the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies’ (PICSS) monthly security assessment released on Saturday, Security personnel deaths in terrorism incidents in KP, excluding merged districts, increased from 12 in June to 38 in July and terrorist deaths from 37 to 108, reflecting a rise by 192pc. But civilian deaths fell from 26 to seven, a decline by 73pc. One peace committee member was also killed.
Security personnel deaths in merged districts rose from six to 11 and terrorist deaths fell from 72 to 55. Civilian deaths, meanwhile, rose by 86pc, increasing from seven to 13.

According to the police, the driver of a police van and a constable sustained minor injuries, while the vehicle itself sustained damage.
"Both the cops have been shifted to the hospital," the city police spokesperson Alam Khan told Dawn.
The bomb disposal unit (BDU) reached the scene shortly after the incident was reported.
"It was a roadside IED explosion, and the bomb was planted in the green belt [next to the vehicle]," Peshawar Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Farhan Khan told Dawn.
He said the BDU was busy scanning the green belt for other devices, adding that both cops were stable and had only scratches on their bodies.
Peshawar Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Dr Mian Saeed Ahmed also visited the blast site and later met the injured at the Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, who were identified as constables Haider Ali and Yousaf, according to a separate police statement.
The incident comes days after nine cops, including a deputy superintendent of police (DSP), were martyred and 28 others were maimed in a terrorist attack on a checkpost in Hangu district ... According to the Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies’ (PICSS) monthly security assessment, at least 112 security personnel bit the dust during July in terrorist attacks, the highest monthly toll since January 2023 and the second-highest recorded in more than a decade.
KP, excluding the merged districts, recorded 154 deaths in July, up from 75 in June, an increase of 105pc. The number of people injured rose from 60 to 98. Security personnel deaths in mainland KP increased from 12 to 38, while terrorist deaths rose by 192pc, from 37 to 108.
[Rudaw] Iraqi Counter-Terrorism Service (ICTS) forces carried out a large-scale security sweep in Nineveh province on Sunday, destroying a cache of deteriorated munitions uncovered during an intelligence-led operation aimed at preventing Islamic State ...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems.... (ISIS) remnants from regrouping.
The operation took place in Bartella subdistrict of Hamdaniya district in Nineveh province, where ICTS units launched a search "within the framework of preemptive efforts to pursue the remnants of ISIS terrorist gangs and enhance security and stability in the province."
The ICTS said forces found damaged military materials, including rockets of various types, landmines, mortar rounds, and improvised bombs (IEDs). The explosives were safely treated and destroyed at the site without incident.
The latest operation comes as Iraqi and Kurdistan Region security forces continue intelligence-led operations against ISIS sleeper cells, particularly in provinces that were once strongholds of the bully boy group, including Nineveh, Kirkuk, ... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time... Salahaddin, and Anbar.
Iraqi authorities have stepped up search operations and targeted raids in recent months to prevent the group from rebuilding its networks.
The ICTS said the search was part of its "ongoing security plans to maintain stability and raise the level of readiness across different operational sectors."
Although ISIS was territorially defeated in Iraq in late 2017, the group continues to operate through sleeper cells.
On Friday, the ICTS announced the arrest of two alleged ISIS members in separate operations in Sulaimani and the destruction of five ISIS hideouts in Kirkuk.
Earlier last week, Iraqi forces also arrested a senior ISIS figure known as "Abu Noor," who was accused of serving as a military checkpoint commander during an intelligence-led operation west of Baghdad.
[North Press] Three drones targeted the cities of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region early on Sunday, but were intercepted before causing any casualties, according to local media reports.
Reports said two drones entered the airspace over Sulaymaniyah, with one sparking a fire that was later brought under control.
In Erbil, the C-RAM air defense system intercepted and destroyed a drone without causing damage, the reports said.

The Kurdistan Region has largely remained on the sidelines of the regional conflict, with most strikes targeting the US Consulate General, the US-led coalition forces stationed at Erbil International Airport, and the bases of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups.

facts are stubborn; statistics are more pliable... seven Peshmerga officers affiliated with the Kurdistan Regional Government, one Kurdish security officer, and two civilians have been killed in the attacks. At least 20 members of Iranian Kurdish opposition groups have also been killed.
The latest strikes on Sunday coincided with a message from US President Donald Trump ...They hit him with slander, they impeached him twice. Nancy Pelosi tore up his State of the Union address on national TV. They stole an election and put his adherents in jail. They vilified him. They couldn't crucify him, so they shot him. Still, they can't keep him down... saying he had agreed to hold off on a planned attack on Iran to allow for peace negotiations.
Trump said they have been "asked by Iran, and other Middle Eastern Countries" to cancel the attack as "the perimeters of a deal has been agreed to."
"This would include the Immediate, Complete, and Total OPENING OF THE HORMUZ STRAIT, and an end to Iran’s nuclear threat," Trump noted in a post on his Truth Social platform.
It also coincides with reports of a surprise relocation of the US Patriot and the British Rapid Sentry air defense systems, with only the C-RAM system remaining stationed. They intercepted about 75 percent of the strikes on the Kurdistan Region.
Rudaw has learned that, in addition to the air defenses, there has been a significant decline of US, German, and French forces in Erbil over the past week. UK troops have been completely evacuated.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has yet to officially comment on the development, leaving top ministers and anonymous "bigwigs" to voice Israel’s disapproval of the plan, despite US President Donald Trump ...So far he's been unkillable, and they've tried.... ’s assurance that Israel was "very happy" with the deal. Adding to the confusion, a senior Paleostinian figure close to the Trump administration said Saturday that Israel had agreed to halt its strikes in Gaza, only to delete the post less than two hours later as Israel stepped up its attacks in the Strip.
Speaking to Army Radio on Sunday, Energy Minister Eli Cohen said that Israel has not signed off on any such agreement.
Cohen, a member of Netanyahu’s top-level security cabinet, said that "there has not been a cabinet discussion [on the Gaza plan] in the past 72 hours."
"Any armed actor who operates, threatens, that is involved with terrorism, we will eliminate him," he added, voicing doubt that that Hamas would actually go along with the plan and hand over its weapons, while saying Israel would like to see the group doing so.
"We will of course give the opportunity" for the plan to succeed, Cohen said, noting that Israel preferred that Hamas disarm through diplomatic agreements.
Later Sunday, Prime Minister’s Office spokesperson Doron Spielman told The News Agency that Dare Not be Named that Israel has shared "serious security concerns" with the White House regarding the proposed disarmament deal with Hamas.
The official said that Israel’s intelligence assessment is that Hamas remains committed to rebuilding its military rather than genuinely demilitarizing. He said that the IDF will not withdraw from Gaza — where it controls more than 60 percent of the territory — before Hamas disarms.
"Our assessment is that if we redeploy before Hamas is truly disarmed, it will quickly expand its presence throughout Gaza, rebuild its terrorist infrastructure, once again threaten Israeli communities, and seek to carry out another October 7-style attack," he said, referring to the onslaught in 2023 that triggered Israel’s war in Gaza.
"Disarming means physically giving up the weapons. Nothing less," Spielman said.
Joining Hamas, the Paleostinian Islamic Jihad terror group has also agreed to the disarmament plan, according to Arab sources cited by the Saudi al-Arabiya newspaper.
Islamic Jihad did not officially comment on the report. The group is closely linked to and funded by Iran, and is smaller and less powerful than Hamas, but still a major player in the Strip.

Paleostinian health officials said Israeli warplanes carried out separate strikes across the enclave in the northern Gaza City, central city of Deir al-Balah, and the southern area of Khan Younis.
A man and his wife were killed and four people were maimed in an airstrike on an apartment in Deir al-Balah, while two more people, including a child, were killed in a strike on an apartment in Gaza City, medics said.
A father, mother, and their 9-year-old son were killed around dawn in a strike on a house in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis.
Another person was killed near Jabalia in northern Gaza.
The military said the strikes in Deir al-Balah were targeting two commanders of Hamas’s elite "Nukhba" force.
The Gaza City and Jabalia strikes also targeted "military operatives" but the military was still reviewing the situation, it said.
The strikes followed similar heavy attacks on Saturday, which the army said targeted several Hamas weapon depots. Local officials said the strikes killed two people, destroyed medical warehouses and damaged a hospital.
The IDF said Sunday morning that the Saturday strikes also killed a Hamas terrorist who invaded Kibbutz Nir Oz during the October 7, 2023, terror onslaught, identified as Salem Jamal Abd al-Rahman Abu Labad.
A separate strike in central Gaza on Friday killed Muhammad Abd al-Nasser Muhammad Khatib, identified by the IDF as a Hamas commander in the terror group’s Maghazi Battalion.
Additionally, the army announced that recent strikes in Gaza also killed three terror operatives who were advancing attacks on Israeli troops.
One strike in Gaza City Saturday killed Alaa Imad Khamis Tarams, a member of the Army of Islam terror group, and Hassan Ibrahim Shehadeh Qahman, a member of Paleostinian Islamic Jihad, according to the IDF.
A separate strike last week in the Strip’s north killed Ahmad Khudar, a commander in Hamas’s Jabalia Battalion, the military said.
The military justified the strikes during the ceasefire by saying that terror operatives had been advancing attacks on troops.
While the heaviest fighting in Gaza has subsided, at least 1,230 people have been killed in Gaza since a ceasefire took effect in October 2025, according to the territory’s Hamas-run health ministry. The toll does not differentiate between combatants and civilians and is not verified, though Israel has generally accepted Hamas’s tally. Israel says its strikes respond to violations of the ceasefire or target operatives posing a threat.
Gunmen have continued to carry out shooting attacks on Israeli troops, and Israel says its strikes are in response to those and other violations. Five Israeli soldiers have been killed since the ceasefire began.
