"Taxpayer dollars designed to provide shelter and support for the homeless and needy instead went to the pockets of these men. They have now admitted their fraudulent conduct and will face justice for their crimes. In the meantime, our work to stamp out fraud in Minnesota will continue in abandon."

all of the Twin Cities area, set up Brilliant Minds Services LLC in the notorious Griggs-Midway Building in St. Paul, Minnesota, and enrolled the business as a Medicaid program provider. They promised to help people with disabilities — including seniors and people with mental illnesses and substance use disorders — find and maintain housing through the State’s now-defunct HSS program. Instead, they submitted thousands of HSS claims to Medicaid for services that were never provided or significantly inflated the claims for higher reimbursements.
The defendants, together, signed up approximately 350 people for HSS and then billed the program despite doing nothing to assist these Medicaid recipients. When asked to provide supporting documentation for their claims, the defendants fabricated records using ChatGPT in an attempt to conceal their theft. In total, from April 2022 through April 2025, the defendants stole approximately $2.2 million from Minnesota Medicaid for services they fraudulently claimed to have provided to these 350 Medicaid recipients.
In separate hearings held between July 7 and July 23, 2026, the defendants each pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud. They each face a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. Sentencing dates have not yet been set by the Court.
FBI, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General are investigating the case.
Trial Attorney Raymond E. Beckering III of the Criminal Division’s Fraud Section and Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Murphy for the District of Minnesota are prosecuting the case.

“Murder and other crime rates are falling across the map, in cities with different political leadership, housing and economic conditions, policing and prosecution strategies, violence reduction models and levels of federal enforcement activity,” CCJ president and CEO Adam Gelb said about the findings, according to CBS
While local policing and violence prevention programs have played key roles, “the striking consistency of the decline suggests that macro-level forces are exerting enormous influence as well,” Gelb told the outlet, and pointed to factors like technology advances allowing more people to work from home and a nationwide decline in alcohol abuse.
Lincoln, Neb., saw the steepest drop, recording zero homicides during the first six months of 2026 after reporting murders during the same period last year – marking a 100% decline.
It was followed by Rochester, New York, with a 76% drop, Little Rock, Arkansas, with a 61% decrease and Arlington, Texas, with a 60% dip.
Murders also fell 41% in Washington DC, 18% in Los Angeles and 13% in Atlanta.
New York City had a strong showing as well.
While the CCJ analysis found homicides in the Big Apple fell 22% year over year, NYPD statistics released this month showed an even steeper decline, with 122 murders recorded through the end of June – down nearly 25% from 162 during the same period in 2025.
It also marked the fewest homicides Gotham has seen during the first six months of any year on record, according to department statistics.
Not every city shared in the decline, however.
Eight of the 30 cities surveyed saw homicides increase during the first half of 2026, including four that had double-digits hikes.
Norfolk, Va., saw the sharpest increase, with murders soaring 64% compared to the same period last year.
San Francisco followed with a 55% jump, while Dallas saw a 30% increase and Salt Lake City recorded a 20% rise.
Austin, Texas, posted a 9% year-over-year, the data shows, as well as a whopping 74% surge since the same period in 2019 – the largest increase over that period out of all 30 cities analyzed.
Homicides also rose 6% in Denver and up 3% in both Chicago and Charlotte, NC.

Some of the drop will be games played with stats. In other cases, like DC, the drop will be real. I think Chicago might actually be higher, but it’s hard to collect accurate stats in places where people don’t talk to law enforcement. I think Chicago should be higher as illegals tend to be attracted magnetically to the most liberal jurisdictions.

[NYPost] A Las Vegas neighborhood turned into a war zone when a shirtless man allegedly sprinted down a residential street firing an AR-style rifle at random homes, leaving stunned neighbors thankful no one was killed.
The terrifying rampage unfolded on Yellowhammer Place in North Las Vegas on July 19. Police say Daniel Lujan Jr., 39, was caught on surveillance video running through the neighborhood with an AR-15-style rifle, repeatedly opening fire at homes.
Ryan Adams said when he first spotted the shirtless man running down the street he thought maybe the gun he was carrying was a water gun. But Adams said as the man got closer, he realized it was a weapon.
“It wasn’t until he got closer that I was like, oh yeah, that’s an AR — that he is armed with,” Adams said.
The homeowner also shared a video he took from inside his house, showing the armed man running through the street and randomly firing at people’s homes.
Police said the shirtless man initially resisted arrest before they were able to take him into custody, per KVVU. He later died at the hospital.
The cause of death has not been released. It is believed the man was under the influence of some kind of substance at the time, per the report.

[PJMedia] You want your government to arrest these thieves, which is what happened to Khalid Satary, who was indicted and charged with ripping off Medicare to the tune of $547 million between 2016 and 2019. That’s an average of $182 million per year. Nice work if you can get it, right?
The feds arrested Satary, a 54-year-old foreign national, on July 20 on allegations that he conspired with patient recruiters, telemarketing call centers, and telemedicine companies to use deceptive marketing programs and illegal kickbacks and bribes, all to generate cancer genetic (CGx) test samples that earned reimbursements that totaled from $10,000 to $20,000 per sample.
That earned him a spot on the FBI Most Wanted Fraudsters list. Before his capture, Satary was believed to have been hiding out in Dubai.
Satary had owned and operated a number of diagnostic testing laboratories throughout the United States, most notably Georgia, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, which allegedly billed the Medicare Program for those expensive and medically unnecessary CGx tests.
On Sept. 26, 2019, he was indicted in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana, New Orleans. That’s where he was charged with conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and wire fraud, healthcare fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and to pay and receive illegal healthcare kickbacks and bribes, and conspiracy to launder monetary instruments.
According to the FBI, "Satary was released on bond with conditions to not work in the healthcare field. While on bond, Satary allegedly conspired with Houston ...a city in Texas, named after Sam Houston, who would drop deader than he is now if he could see how it turned out... -based laboratories in Texas to submit fraudulent genetic testing claims to Medicare."
"This defendant allegedly orchestrated a massive fraud scheme that preyed on thousands of elderly patients, deceiving them into undergoing expensive, medically unnecessary tests and fraudulently billing the government for more than half a billion dollars," said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche.
The labs involved in the alleged scam included Performance Laboratories in Oklahoma, Lazarus Services in Louisiana, and Clio Labs in Georgia. These three lab companies billed Medicare, collectively, more than $547 million.
As part of the scheme, the scammers would solicit CGx tests from vulnerable elderly and disabled Medicare enrollees through telemarketing outreach and "health fairs."
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), "The tests were then approved by telemedicine doctors who did not engage in treatment and often did not even speak with the enrollees for whom they ordered tests."
Footing the bill for all of this was the U.S. taxpayer.
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has said that this case is one of the largest health care fraud schemes it ever charged. In that original 2019 indictment, the DOJ reported that it charged 35 people who it said were responsible for $2.1 billion in losses.
Satary is the alleged ringleader. The feds issued an arrest warrant for Satary on Nov. 23, 2022, after he allegedly violated the terms of his pre-trial release. When he failed to appear at his Dec. 12, 2022 court date, it was clear he had fled the country, and that’s when the Biden administration’s DOJ then declared him a runaway of justice.
When he was found and captured in the Middle East on July 20, authorities found on his person a fake Mexican passport under a fake name. At that point, he was transferred to U.S. custody.
Khalid SataryOn July 21, Satary appeared in court in the Eastern District of Virginia, where he is charged with conspiracy to commit healthcare fraud and wire fraud, healthcare fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and to pay and receive illegal healthcare kickbacks and bribes, and conspiracy to commit money laundering.
"If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison for the counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and conspiracy to commit money laundering, 10 years in prison for the counts of healthcare fraud and conspiracy to commit health care fraud, and five years in prison for the count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and to pay and receive kickbacks," the DOJ said in a statement.
Given what we've been seeing in cases like this and in states like Minnesota, just stopping the fraud will go a long way towards making sure Social Security and Medicare are there for Americans when they need it.

2. Local factors have some influence on local pricing which is why Brent Crude is a couple dollars more a barrel than West Texas Crude. For example today Brent is about $7 more a barrel than WTI.
3. This works similarly for many other commodities, e.g., gold, wheat, steel.
4. There are some products that are difficult and/or expensive to move, e.g. grand pianos. You would likely see a fairly significant difference in price over the world because of this.

I can't provide more info/details, but from what I have heard, Brent crude is all on paper (future contracts). There is no way to "take delivery" of Brent crude...FWIW.
Still mind-boggling that the UK has tons of black gold off of its coasts, but the Labour weirdtards have forbade drilling. It's all there for the taking.

Imports to the US, are, for example, largely to the west coast of the US. Exports are mostly from Texas to Europe.
You wouldn't want California importing oil from Texas, or drilling for our own oil (heaven forbid), would you? Not when we can pay more, much more, for Middle Eastern oil, not to mention the shipping. And besides that we have state gas taxes that increase the price we pay at the pump by about $2 a gallon.

Pennsylvania recorded the nation’s largest natural decline (-10.7K), followed by West Virginia, Maine, and Michigan. Most states with natural decreases were concentrated in the Northeast and Appalachia, regions that include several states with some of the country’s oldest populations.
Florida also recorded more deaths than births, yet remained one of America’s fastest-growing states because of migration.
The South remained the engine of natural population growth. Texas (+158K), Georgia (+29K), and North Carolina (+15K) posted strong gains. California (+110K) and New York (+43K) also recorded far more births than deaths despite slower overall population growth.

As America’s population ages and birth rates remain historically low, natural population growth is becoming less common. For a growing number of states, migration—not births—is now the primary driver of population growth, making migration trends increasingly important to their long-term demographic outlook.
