1 If you are willing to tolerate gangs of bandits taking control of trade routes, you are not going to have much of a world economy. Yes, it will be difficult to shut them down for all the usual reasons. But when a system becomes clogged with parasites, it no longer functions.

3 Somebody needs to look at a map. Hormuz isn't on the Red Sea. It's on the Persian Gulf.
As far as Mandeb, it's perfectly possible to load at the west Saudi terminals, sail around Sinai, and out through the Suez Canal. They're already doing it.

The Saudis aren’t at all good at that kind of thing, Mike. They tried in 2015 or thereabouts, which is why there’s a separate government in the south, but they weren’t able to accomplish anything significant against the Houthis. They look really good in parades, though.
