7 Mahan air charter flight. That's why the Saudi's cratered the runway when the inbound was on short final and the aircraft had to divert to another Houthi controlled airstrip. That's what got the Houthi's ticked at the Saudi's and led to the closing of the Mandeb strait. And the plane was carrying back the delegation that attended the grand pooh-bah's funeral. Jeez - this article includes everything but the facts!

8 Mr. Wife was offered an assignment in Yemen by his company. He was really, really happy to be able to turn it down on the grounds of having a Jewish wife. Being kidnapped for ransom used to be part of the normal expat experience, I was told, back before the Houthis took over — mostly the captives were returned whole and unharmed, with nothing more than an exciting tale for dinner parties, but sometimes the locals got a bit overexcited.
