[Daily Mail, where America gets its news] Kentucky Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, 84, has been taken to the hospital.
'Senator McConnell was admitted to the hospital this morning. He is receiving excellent care,' his spokesperson noted on Sunday.
It was later revealed by CNN that McConnell was taken to George Washington Hospital in Washington, DC. The cause of Sunday's admission still remains unknown.
McConnell, who is not running for another term in the US Senate in this year's midterm elections, has been plagued by health concerns in his last term in Washington.
A fall last February left him reliant on a wheelchair and an aide to navigate the Capitol hallways, and he suffered a further fall in December 2024, spraining his wrist.
He has also endured several on-camera 'freezing' episodes, most notably in August 2023, when he stood motionless for 30 seconds after being asked whether he would seek re-election in Kentucky, just weeks after abruptly halting mid-sentence at a press conference.
The then-81-year-old gave no response when pressed on his political future. He has since announced he will not run for re-election.
The longest-serving GOP Senate leader, McConnell first entered the Senate in 1985. He has long drawn the ire of Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters following a years-long feud.
His wife, Elaine Chao, served as Secretary of Transportation for most of Trump's first term, but resigned in the wake of the January 6, 2021 Capitol attack.
In 2024, McConnell announced he would step down as Republican leader, ending an era that stretched back to 2007, clearing the way for John Thune to take the helm.
His retirement from the Senate opened up his Kentucky seat, and Congressman Andy Barr was selected during a May primary as the GOP nominee to succeed in November's midterm elections.
Older lawmakers of both parties on Capitol Hill have been plagued with health scares, and even death.
Longtime Democrat David Scott, 80, suddenly died in April after mounting concerns over his advanced age.
Scott served as a representative from Georgia for 23 years and was the top Democrat on the House Agriculture Committee before being replaced by Angie Craig.
Republican Doug LaMalfa from California, 65, died during surgery in January.
In March, President Donald Trump revealed the terminal diagnosis of a member of the House GOP conference as well.
Republican congressman Neal Dunn, a father of three, has a terminal diagnosis, and Trump said at the time that the outlook was so grim that doctors pronounced 'he would be dead by June.'
Speaker Mike Johnson, who was sitting next to the President, appeared stunned that day as Trump grinned at reporters.
'Okay, that wasn't public,' Johnson quipped at the time.
Dunn had not planned to run for reelection in 2026.
Concerns about the health and average age of government leaders have been highly scrutinized in recent months as members of Congress of both political parties have experienced health scares, with some dying in office.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer was taken to hospital for dehydration as scorching temperatures in Washington, DC, reached 100 degrees last summer.
The 74-year-old was at the Senate gym in the morning and reportedly 'got lightheaded,' according to his office.
The top Democrat was taken to the hospital 'out of an abundance of caution,' his office also noted at the time.
However, a few prominent lawmakers have - finally - read the writing on the wall and are leaving Congress on their own terms.
Washington, DC, representative Eleanor Holmes Norton, 88, first planned to run for re-election to a 19th term. But she ultimately withdrew her bid in January.
And former House speaker Nancy Pelosi, 85, is not seeking re-election this year, after serving in Congress for 20 terms.

In 1973 I worked with a crazy guy who claimed one night, while higher then a kite and running the 5th node of ARPA-NET that he was over the Air NSA contact to all the major parties of this at the same time from NSA-Morocco then he disappeared the next morning.. That said none of his time lines matched the official event timelines so I wrote it off. I still write it off. His story was interesting but facts didn't match.

I remember way back then as this unfolded that a major reason why the IDF attacked the unknown ship (It wasn't called the USS Liberty then in the breaking news, just "an unknown warship") was because the ship was supposedly relaying information to Egypt on what the IDF was doing.
The POTUS at the time was Lyndon B. Johnson, which makes sense as he's a democrat and was playing both sides against each others.

The Liberty and the Pueblo were both unarmed surveillance craft. Someone at grades way above their ability thought that would keep them safe. After both events, the Navy moved surveillance to destroyers/frigates.

Re: LBJ. That might explain his unwillingness to discuss the matter further if I recall correctly. The Liberty might have been set up. In any case, just another weird story where American sailors died.

I would be able to relate his story.. But like I said.. his timelines didn't match so his story would just be twisted by Jew Haters as further ammo.
He claimed he was talking to Prez Johnson, Golda Meir and the Israeli pilots over the same open air unencrypted NSA Morocco radio at the same time.. Not a secure trusted link for any of the parties. Then tie that in with timelines not matching.... I am sorry. It didn't compute. That said he had a unique way of making money. His NSA buddies would spot interesting cars in junkyards and via ARPA-NET (remember it was long before DARPA-NET and the later Internet) send him the locations and space photos. The weekend he disappeared he was restoring a Gull Wing Mercedes that they had found him several hundred miles away. He would fix up those cars just enough to quickly sell to a restoration restorer. He said the reason his buddies did it was because of how he was fcked over by the Liberty Ship issue. He might have just been doing it that way to make quick money for himself and his NSA buddies.... That's another reason I wrote off his story.

What he didn't know was I knew an ex-Merc that was involved in an attempt to rob a Saudi junkyard for Rolls-Royces and Bentleys and fix up in Egypt to resell in Africa. Saudi had a deal with Rolls not to allow resale of scratched or wrecked Rolls. They ran into the Saudi Army and had to bribe their way out of Saudi. So.. to me expensive cars in junkyards were a normal questionable situation.
To top it off.. I had a millionaire friend who found a very expensive Italian race car in junkyard in Kansas. It was badly burned and he knew the race car company would restore it for free if delivered to their doorstep. So he told the junkyard owner "How much for that burned out Fiat? I want it for spare parts." The junkyard guy didn't know it was a Fiat and said $50, He gave him $200 if he would wait for a railcar to pick it up... heh heh .. car was then worth $1.5 million fixed up...

his actual core story was that there was a deal between Prez Johnson and Israel that they would not take the whole Sinai in the 67 War. They Liberty ship was monitoring the deal when it went south..
