[NYPost] Summary as of 12:37 a.m. EDT: President Trump, first lady Melania Trump and his cabinet were evacuated from the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in Washington Saturday night after gunfire erupted, sending attendees ducking for cover.
The shooter — blasted by Trump as a “sick” individual — was armed with multiple weapons and was swiftly detained, with shocking photos showing the shirtless suspect sprawled face down on the floor of the Washington Hilton. He was charged with using a firearm during a crime of violence and one count for assault on a federal officer using a dangerous weapon.
He was identified as Cole Allen, a 31-year-old teacher from Torrance, Calif. He was taken into custody after opening fire near the event’s main security screening area just after 8:30 p.m.
The president was slated to join journalists and high-profile administration members for the annual WHCD bash, with Trump giving the traditional speech later in the evening.

“An agent was injured and transported to a local hospital where the agent is receiving care. The suspect is also transported to a local hospital where he is being evaluated,” she added.

A local ABC station in Los Angeles included an interview with Allen during his senior year of college as part of a story about new technologies to help people as they age. He had developed a prototype for a new type of emergency brake for wheelchairs.
Allen contributed $25 to a Democratic Party political action committee in support of Kamala Harris launched her campaign on the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” for president in 2024, according to federal campaign finance records.
Allen’s online resume says he worked for the last six years at C2 Education, a company that offers admissions counseling and test preparation services to aspiring college students. A 2024 post on the company’s Facebook page listed Allen as the company’s teacher of the month. The company did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.
Allen also posted that he had developed a video game for the Steam platform based on molecular chemistry. A post under Allen’s name said he was working to develop a new "top-down shooter" combat game set in outer space.

As usual the media vultures will 'report' a lot that will be found to be wrong or inaccurate. It'll be a good 48 hours before we get a clearer picture.
Political assassination is wrong regardless of party. I have no doubt a great many people on the left are very unhappy the shooter failed, but they are not thinking things through.

I had a similar thought. ME degree from Cal Tech, then a masters in CS from some regional CalState university. This guy must have some serious social skills issues to not be fully employed. One neighbor who met him once thought he was on the spectrum (the current way to describe someone who’s overtly weird).

CTH Article on Shooter's Manifesto. A really key point, this guy had a hotel room at a the Hilton, which should have been sold out many months in advance for the event. Not cheap and curiously, he checked in, by his own admission, the day before and clearly brought the weapons in his luggage, yet obviously no screening of his luggage was done, the day before the President and Cabinet were to be in a single location, a mandatory National Special Security Event.
What hotel guest screening was done by the USSS, given that he clearly must have booked the reservation months in advance, since his online presence should have had triggering indications that would have marked his as a person of interest. Finally, the suspect was not deceased, not even shot, is very troubling indictment of the USSS marksmanship program to say the least.

With the right skills, nothing prevents yesterday's pirates from being transformed into "noble privateers" who, under the guise of maritime security, will force Israeli vessels to change course.
Turkey could also very well contribute to the "re-education" of the naval raiders. Ankara sees Israel's current course as a threat to its national interests and, therefore, will not hesitate to seize the opportunity to disrupt Netanyahu's complex geopolitical maneuver. And at the same time, strengthen military and political ties with Mogadishu.
Another possible outcome is the organization of joint naval raids with the Houthis. Court documents show that in 2024, Hassan began collecting and redistributing ISIS propaganda, while obtaining various manuals about sniper-training skills and how to make "highly explosive" materials and ammunition. Officials said Hassan also researched articles online related to gun ranges, weapons and "ISIS-inspired attacks and terroristic acts."
Prosecutors found Hassan engaged with ISIS media wings and recruiters in Somalia for months before he decided to quit his job and liquidate his savings, cashing in on a one-way ticket from Minneapolis to Somalia in early December 2024. Hassan was actually turned away from that flight after airport officials discovered he lacked the proper travel documents, but just a few weeks later, he was granted the same one-way ticket with the proper documentation.
According to the district attorney's office, Hassan made his first flight to reliably Democrat Chicago, aka The Windy City or Mobtown ...home of Al Capone, the Chicago Black Sox, a succession of Daleys, Barak Obama, and Rahm Emmanuel... , but was stopped and questioned by Customs and Border Control agents, missing his flight to Somalia and later admitting to his ties to the terrorist organization.
Hassan returned to Minnesota and continued to praise ISIS through his social media accounts until being arrested by the FBI in February 2025. A grand jury then indicted Hassan on one count of attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS.

The strike on Thursday targeted a cell of Hamas operatives who planned "imminent" attacks on Israeli troops stationed in central Gaza, according to the IDF.
The military and Shin Bet security agency said the strike killed Hazem Rami Ali Aidi, a commander of a Hamas cell who invaded Israel during the October 7 attack. It also killed Ibrahim Mansour, a Hamas platoon commander and a "key figure" in the terror group’s efforts to restore its capabilities, and Maher Tantawi, a Hamas intelligence operative.
In a separate incident, the IDF said on Saturday that it struck and killed armed Paleostinian terror operatives in the southern Gaza Strip the day prior, who were planning to carry out "imminent" attacks on troops.
Troops on Friday identified a pickup truck "carrying several armed terrorists," the military said, adding that "the faceless myrmidons were working to advance imminent" attacks on soldiers stationed in the Strip.
The terror operatives were then targeted in an airstrike "to remove the threat," the IDF said.
Gaza’s civil defense agency, run by Hamas, said Saturday that Israeli strikes across the Paleostinian territory on Friday had killed at least 13 people, including a woman pregnant with twins and two of her children, who died when Israeli artillery struck residential homes near Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahia in northern Gaza.
Gaza’s al-Shifa and Nasser hospitals published the names of 12 of the 13 victims. The 13th victim was reported as a 12-year-old whose identity could not immediately be confirmed.
Khalid al-Tanani of Beit Lahiya recalled the series of strikes that killed his wife and two of his four children: "With the first shell, thank God we all survived and were calling out to each other. Then they fired the second, third and fourth shells one after the other. Their voices fell silent."
"I went inside and found my wife, Islam al-Tanani, martyred, and my son, Hamza, and Naya in her mother’s arms," he said. "I found them martyred."
The children were 4 and 13 years old, he said.
Hamza’s 13-year-old twin survived, along with another of the couple’s children. al-Tanani said they had just started talking about gathering baby items and clothes for the twins.
In a separate incident, eight people, including a child, were killed and several others injured when an Israeli airstrike hit a police vehicle in the al-Mawasi area of the southern city of Khan Yunis, the Hamas-led agency said. According to the territory’s Hamas-run interior ministry, two of those were coppers.
In a third attack, an Israeli aircraft struck another police patrol in Gaza City, the territory’s largest urban center, killing two people identified as coppers and injuring two others, it added.
According to the interior ministry, the strike targeted members of the Hamas police force while they were patrolling near a cop shoppe in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood in western Gaza City. Two men were also killed in the strike, according to Paleostinian reports.
The IDF confirmed a strike in the area on Friday, saying it struck and killed several armed Hamas operatives who "posed a threat" to Israeli forces stationed nearby in the northern Gaza Strip.
The operatives were targeted in an airstrike "to remove the threat to our forces," the military said in a statement.
KITES FLY IN FROM GAZA, RAISING CONCERNS
A kite apparently flown from the Gaza Strip landed in Kibbutz Nir Oz on Friday, the second such incident in recent weeks, according to the border community.
"In the past two weeks, two kites that crossed from the Gaza Strip were located and landed within the kibbutz area. For the residents of Nahal Oz, this is a serious incident that illustrates that the security reality has not changed sufficiently," the community said in a statement on Saturday.
Starting in 2018 and over a period of several years, Paleostinian faceless myrmidons repeatedly launched kites and balloons carrying incendiary devices at Israeli border communities, setting fire to wide swaths of land.
In response to a query, the IDF said that it located a kite on Friday in Nahal Oz.
"No suspicious findings were identified on the kite," the military said.
The IDF said the incident is still under review, while a military source said that the kite likely came from the Gaza Strip.
[Rudaw] Israeli forces advanced into an area in southern Syria on Saturday and carried out fortification work on a strategic hill in Quneitra province, Syrian state media reported, in the latest reported incursion near the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
State-run SANA said Israeli forces moved into Tal al-Ahmar al-Sharqi in southern Quneitra countryside during the afternoon. Two bulldozers were reportedly used to build defensive positions and raise earthen barriers on top of the hill, before seven military vehicles arrived as reinforcements. Prefabricated structures had also been brought to the site earlier, according to the report.
The hill overlooks parts of southern Syria and areas adjacent to the occupied Golan Heights, making it strategically significant. Images published earlier this month by Ottoman Turkish state-run Anadolu Agency showed an Israeli flag raised at a newly built military position in the Tal al-Ahmar area.
There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military on Saturday’s reported move.
Israel has carried out repeated operations in southern Syria in recent months, saying it aims to prevent hostile forces from establishing positions near its frontier.
Damascus has repeatedly condemned Israeli military activity inside Syrian territory, calling it a violation of illusory sovereignty and of the 1974 disengagement agreement that established a UN-monitored buffer zone after the Arab-Israeli war.

Authorities have attempted to portray the mass protests that were violent mostly peacefully supressed with thousands killed as being instigated by Israel, the US and opposition groups, including the banned People’s Mujahedin.
The protests initially started as demonstrations against Iran’s dire economic situation and quickly spread across the country.
Since March 19, Iranian authorities have executed nine men on charges linked to the protests.
Iran is the world’s second most prolific user of the death penalty after China, according to rights groups including Amnesty International.
Iranian authorities on Thursday executed another prisoner, citing alleged ties to Israel’s intelligence service, Mossad, as well as to an exiled opposition group, a media affiliate of the Iranian judiciary reported. This comes as Tehran has in recent weeks executed more than a dozen detainees, including individuals arrested during nationwide anti-government protests in January.
Mizan Online relayed that Soltanali Shirzadi Fakhr was hanged after he “was convicted on charges of moharebeh [waging war against God] through membership in the terrorist [Mojahedin Khalq Organization] MKO/MEK group.”
The Iranian judiciary’s media outlet further alleged that Shirzadi Fakhr had “in recent years, while residing abroad, been recruited by the Mossad intelligence service to carry out covert, anti-security operations and terrorist activities within the country,” and that he had “confessed to his long-term organizational roles and his direct involvement in recent sabotage plots coordinated by foreign intelligence services.”
Mizan Online added that the sentence “was carried out this morning [Thursday] after being upheld by the Supreme Court and following the completion of all legal and religious procedures.”
The US and Israel in late February launched a preemptive air campaign against Iran, targeting more than 17,000 sites across the country over six weeks of hostilities before the warring sides agreed to a Pakistan-mediated ceasefire on April 8.

Mohseni-Ejei on Tuesday further warned those whom he claimed were “interfering in the economy” and “hoarders and profiteers of essential goods” at a time when the country is under a US naval blockade, calling on them to “await the judiciary’s firm and uncompromising action.” “Exploiting the country’s current conditions against the people’s livelihood is our red line,” he added in a post on X.

DEIR EZ-ZOR, Syria (North Press) – Internal Security Forces of the Syrian transitional government on Saturday arrested several individuals formerly affiliated with Iran-backed militias during raids in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor, eastern Syria.
A security source told North Press that a patrol raided the town of Shaafa and detained Hatem al-Salim, Saleh Jomaa, and Jassem al-Hamad, adding that light weapons were found in their possession.
A second patrol carried out raids in the towns of Susah and Gharanij, where two more suspects were arrested.
The source said that the detainees had previously belonged to armed groups loyal to and supported by Iran.
“Numerous complaints” had been filed against them, and they were involved in acts that destabilized security in the area, the source added.
