[FoxNews] Joshua Jahn conducted extensive planning before Dallas facility attack that killed detainee, injured two others
A gunman who meticulously planned an ambush on a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility killed one detainee and injured two others before taking his own life in what federal officials called an act of terrorism aimed at instilling fear in law enforcement.
Nancy Larson, acting U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Texas, told reporters Thursday that Wednesday’s shooting was the third violent attack or threat at ICE facilities during her four months in the role.
In the latest incident, she said 29-year-old Joshua Jahn opened fire from a rooftop before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Larson added he likely acted alone.
Investigators said video from around 3 a.m. showed Jahn driving with a large ladder on his car, which they believe he used to climb onto the roof.
"That morning, gunshots sprayed the length of the building, the windows and law enforcement vans that were in the sally port area," Larson said. "Detainees were struck by these bullets. One was killed, two were wounded and both of them are undergoing treatment."
The FBI quickly processed the crime scene and executed multiple search warrants on Jahn’s devices and locations. At his residence, agents found a collection of notes.
"I want to point out that one of these notes or papers the sniper explicitly states, ‘Yes, it was just me,'" Larson said. "That statement appears to be correct at this point in the investigation."
She said the notes included a game plan of the attack and target areas at the ICE facility. Jahn referred to ICE employees as those who show up to "collect a dirty paycheck."
"He wrote that he intended to maximize his lethality against ICE personnel and to maximize property damage at the facility," Larson said, adding Jahn hoped to minimize any collateral damage or injury to the detainees and innocent people.
"It’s clear from these notes that he was targeting ICE agents and ICE personnel," she added, pointing to the "tragic" irony of detainees being injured and killed.
Larson said the writings suggest Jahn hoped his actions would give ICE agents the real terror of being gunned down, inducing constant stress in their lives. The writings also suggest he hoped his actions would terrorize ICE employees and interfere with their work, which he called "human trafficking."
"What he did is the very definition of terrorism," Larson said. "Again, his notes reveal, ‘Yes, it was just me and my brain,’ and he said, ‘Good luck with the digital footprint'."
Larson added that the statement is suggested to mean Jahn deleted digital evidence from his devices. Among the papers retrieved, she said, was a handwritten note in which Jahn expressed hatred for the federal government using crude words.
Marcos Charles, ICE field office director of Enforcement and Removal Operations, said Jahn used ICE tracking apps designed to locate ICE officers, warning that those who create such apps put law enforcement at risk.
"It's a casting call to invite bad actors to attack law enforcement officers. It's no different than giving a hitman the location of their intended target. And this is exactly what we saw happen in Dallas yesterday," Charles said.
"The media has been amplifying these apps, even as we warned them it would only lead to more attacks on law enforcement. We truly wish we didn't have to say ‘I told you so,’ but here we are."
FBI Special Agent in Charge Joseph Rothrock said Jahn conducted a "high degree" of pre-attack planning, which included tracking ICE agents and searching for information about the office building.
He said Jahn acknowledged in his notes the potential for other casualties, knowing detainees were likely to be transported that morning.
"Jahn's attack did, in fact, result in the tragic death of one detainee and the injury to two other detainees," Rothrock reiterated. "We have been able to confirm that Jahn legally obtained an 8 mm bolt-action rifle he used in the shooting in August of this year."
Officials confirmed multiple shots were fired but declined to specify how many, citing the ongoing investigation. Authorities also withheld the victims’ identities, saying notifications and cooperation with families are ongoing.

The FBI secretly deployed more than 250 plainclothes agents to the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6, 2021 riot, an operation so disorganized it unleashed searing frustrations among many of the FBI's rank-and-file that the bureau had lost its core competencies to "wokeness" and allowed its employees to become “pawns in a political war,” according to an after-action report kept from the public for more than four years.
Scores of FBI agents and personnel – many from the bureau’s premier Washington field office (WFO) – sent anonymous complaints to the after-action team detailing how agents were sent into an unsafe scenario without proper safety equipment or the ability to identify themselves readily as armed officers to other police agencies, the report obtained by Just the News shows.
The most persistent complaint was that the bureau during the James Comey and Chris Wray era had become infected with political biases and liberal ideology that treated the protesters from the summer 2020 Black Lives Matter riots far differently than those arrested in the aftermath of the Jan. 6 episode.
“The FBI should make clear to its personnel and the public that, despite its obvious political bias, it ultimately still takes its mission and priorities seriously,” one employee wrote in a stinging review. “It should equally and aggressively investigate criminal activity regardless of the offenders' perceived race, political affiliations, or motivations; and it should equally and aggressively protect all Americans regardless of perceived race, political affiliations, or motivations.”
That agent urged FBI leaders “to identify viable exit options for FBI personnel who no longer feel it is legally or morally acceptable to support a federal law enforcement and intelligence agency motivated by political bias.”
One agent suggested the problem extended beyond the bureau to D.C. U.S. Attorney's office, indicating a more widespread problem with political bias.
"Currently, the US Attorneys office is dictating what it is that gets investigated. This is a dangerous precedent because we can barely get them to prosecute investigations that clearly meet thresholds needed for Federal prosecutions," the agent wrote. "However, their willingness to conduct a search warrant on someone's life for a misdemeanor seems ridiculous. It is unreasonable for the FBI to conduct investigations involving misdemeanor violations at a federal level... it is not our role."
Many of the agents’ feedback focused on the Washington Field Office and its culture. “WFO is a hopelessly broken office that's more concerned about wearing masks and recruiting preferred racial/sexual groups than catching actual bad guys,” one worker wrote.
Added another: “I wish you all would pay more attention to our safety than what type of masks we wear. If you are going to deploy us to a riot situation, then give us the proper damn safety equipment--helmet, face shield, protective clothing--and training!”
The after-action responses – 50 pages in all – were located by current FBI Director Kash Patel’s team and recently turned over to the House Judiciary Committee and its special subcommittee investigating security failures and weaponization of law enforcement during the Jan. 6 riot.
274 UNDERCOVER AGENTS EMBEDDED IN RIOT , WITH NO SAFETY PLANS
The document has proven a bombshell to lawmakers, revealing for the first time that the FBI had a total of 274 agents deployed to the Capitol in plainclothes and with guns after the violence started but with no clear safety gear of way to be recognized by other law enforcement agencies working in the chaos of the riot.

Wray, Patel’s predecessor, steadfastly refused to tell Congress how many if any agents went to the Capitol that day. And a prior DOJ Inspector General Report did not divulge the number, referring only to a SWAT team the bureau sent into the Capitol and having more than two dozen informants in the crowd.
The existence of mass FBI agents at the Capitol on Jan. 6 could also be a problem in many of the cases that were subsequently brought in court. If agents were witnesses at the Capitol and did not disclose it in the subsequent affidavits during prosecutions it could create grounds for defendants to appeal.
The document also reveals for the first time that there were widespread concerns for years inside the bureau – sentiments that boiled over after the FBI began sending SWAT teams to arrest Jan. 6 participants on misdemeanor charges – that the FBI had become biased in favor of liberals and against conservatives.
Despite the pre-existing report, Wray rejected that notion in testimony before Congress. “The idea that I’m biased against conservatives seems somewhat insane to me, given my own personal background,” Wray told Congress in 2023.
“I have found almost invariably, the people screaming the loudest about the politicization of the FBI are themselves the most political, and more often than not, making claims of politicization to advance their own views or goals, and they often don’t know the facts or are choosing to ignore them,” Wray added in an episode of the podcast “FBI Retired Case File Review” that aired the same year.
AGENT: “OUR RESPONSE TO THE CAPITOL RIOT REEKS OF POLITICAL BIAS”
But frontline agents repeatedly raised issues of liberal bias and wokeness in their after-action assessments. The words “politics” or “bias” were mentioned more than a dozen times in responses, and similar sentiments scores of times in the 50 pages.
“Our response to the Capitol Riot reeks of political bias,” one wrote.
Another added: “I wonder if our biases affected our preparedness.”
A third suggested the agents and analysts had become engrossed in the main business of Washington – politics – rather than crime fighting and blamed the bureau’s leadership for the slide.
“We have been used as pawns in a political war, and FBI leadership fell into the trap and has allowed it to happen,” that employee wrote. “We are supposed to call balls and strikes, regardless of political pressure, now we can’t even be trusted to be on the field,” another agent commented.”
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan vowed through a spokesman to get to the bottom of the still-untold secrets of Jan. 6 alongside of the Jan. 6 subcommittee chairman Barry Loudermilk.
“Due to our oversight, Chairman Loudermilk's leadership and Director Patel’s leadership, we continue to discover what exactly happened on Jan. 6,” Jordan’s spokesman Russell Dye told Just the News.
"During the more than two years I have been investigating the events of January 6, I have seen evidence that suggests potential political bias within agencies that may have influenced their actions before, during, and after the events of January 6. But this report is more damning than anyone could have imagined and opens up even more questions," Loudermilk told Just the News.
"Why is Congress just finding out there were significantly more FBI assets at the Capitol than previously identified? Were the courts that heard cases regarding January 6 made aware these agents were at the Capitol? Were any of the agents tasked to investigate individuals at the Capitol? Were they ever called to testify during the prosecutions of J6 defendants? Did any of the former FBI leaders testify about the additional personnel at the Capitol? These are just a few of the questions my committee will be asking," said the chairman.
The report solves one of the Jan. 6 mysteries: How did the FBI respond when violence began breaking out at the Capitol? Wray previously refused to divulge to Congress how many agents or informants were present during the incident.
“The initial response of having us again respond to a riot by ‘standing the line’ did not seem appropriate because we do not have the gear, equipment, or training for riot control,” one agent said.
“As in June, agents were again deployed onto the streets (specifically around the Capitol) and simply told to stand behind MPD. No other direction. When asked specifically what they were supposed to do or who to check in with, they were told simply that management said to go there and there was no answer,” another said. “FBI agents do not have training for, nor equipment for, riot control.”
AGENTS COMPLAINED OF POLITICALLY-MOTIVATED "DOUBLE STANDARD"
The report also revealed agents strongly disagreed with how they were deployed and how cases were pursued after that day, seeing a double standard.
“The actions on January 6, 2021 were absolutely despicable and unacceptable in a civilized society. What is even more unacceptable was the hypocrisy displayed by the FBI and its leadership in their attempt to go after those involved in the Capitol Riots, while we as agents, watched cities burn across America during the summer of 2020,” one agent said.
“The conspiracy to commit crimes at the Capitol on January 6th, were also committed by bad actors during the summer riots of 2020 leading up to the election on November 3, 2020. Agents stood by on the ground in Washington, D.C. and observed stores being looted, burned, and ripped of anything of value,” the agent wrote.
“Even worse, officers were assaulted in the streets in broad daylight with cameras rolling, and yet our response then was nothing like the Capitol Riots response on and after January 6, 2021. I do not recall a single instance where the FBI, specifically FBI WFO, made any attempt to put the resources behind the summer riots of 2020, as they did during the Capitol Riots,” the agent explained.
The scathing comments from Washington Field Office agents assessing their own bureau’s work that day were not included in an Office of Inspector General report reviewing the FBI’s performance in the lead up to and during the Jan. 6 electoral certification. That report only confirmed that there were “several hundred” agents deployed, but provided no further detail about the challenges they faced or their complaints.

[NYPost] At Dearborn, Michigan’s first city council meeting since his clash with a local Christian minister went viral after a heated exchange over a controversial honorary street sign naming, Mayor Abdullah Hammoud declined to apologize for his saying the minister was “not welcome here” and that he would “launch a parade” when he left town.
Ted Barham, the same Christian minister, opened his remarks at Tuesday’s meeting by repeating the words that went viral at the previous one on Sept. 9.
“The mayor, in a way, cursed me, as was seen around the world. And I would like to repeat what I said that day to you, Mr. Mayor: ‘God bless you,’” Barham said.
Barham said he had no plans to file a lawsuit despite pressure from supporters.
“People have been saying I should do that all over the world. I have no intention of doing that,” Barham said.
Instead, he urged the council to consider his larger message: “Bless those who curse you… love your haters. And I would say that in regard to Hezbollah as well. I would [say] that in regard to Mr. Siblani and I would [say] to Israel, too. ‘Love your haters.’”
He then made a new appeal.
“Would it be possible for you, Mayor Hammoud, in front of the world and council members to join me in saying we would like to put out a Christian call to prayer and a Christian call to faith in all the countries around the world where an Islamic call to prayer goes out?”
Others took the microphone to press the council more directly.
Anthony Deegan told the chamber, “We love you with the love of Christ. We want the blessings of God to be in your life… it’s not a matter of us versus them.” But he then asked pointedly: “Do you definitively, unequivocally, by name, denounce Hamas and Hezbollah? Or do you support them?”
Shane Rife of Garden City said he was “shocked” to learn that Hammoud had appeared at a rally where Arab American News publisher Osama Siblani praised Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah as a “hero.”
“We have a mayor in the United States who is sharing a platform with somebody, with [a] terrorist!?” Rife asked. “Where is your allegiance? Is your allegiance to the United States or is your allegiance to Hezbollah?”
Pastor Jeff Davis of Dearborn Evangelical Covenant Church also voiced support for Barham, stressing his long service in the city.

“The United States of America is built on the principles of freedom of speech and freedom of religion. These two principles are sacrosanct,” Almudhegi said.
“If I were in Mayor Abdullah Hamoud’s spot at that time, I would have not said anything. The gentleman has a right, as an American citizen, to speak his mind. And he did it in a respectful, calm way. The mayor should have afforded him that opportunity instead of launching into that tirade.”
He warned that Hammoud’s “not welcome here” remark risked fueling a false impression that Christians are not accepted in Dearborn.
“People would get the impression, or it would feed into the paranoia that is very, very wrong, that Dearborn is a racist place, or there’s no place for Christians. And that is what I’m 100% against,” Almudhegi said.
Almudhegi had previously released an official statement condemning Hammoud’s remarks as “uncalled for, classless, unprofessional and just plain wrong,” and voiced support for Barham.
When Hammoud spoke later in the evening at the meeting, he did not answer the many calls for an apology or the demand for a specific denunciation.
Instead, he said, Dearborn “represents the best of America” where “people of all backgrounds, of all faiths, and of all beliefs can live peacefully and respectfully as neighbors.”
“For decades, people have been intent on dividing and disparaging our city,” Hammoud said. “Dearborn has never fallen for these divisive attempts. Back then and still now, Dearborn residents from every corner of this city have come together to shun hatred and to root it out of the place that we’re all proud to call home.”
The controversy continues to loom over Dearborn’s November mayoral election, where Hammoud faces Almudhegi.
With only two names on the ballot, the clash over religious freedom and free speech sparked by Barham’s remarks and the mayor’s response may become the defining issue for voters.

Dearborn Mayor Abdullah Hammoud, the first Arab-American and Muslim mayor, of the city. Has openly demonstrated his and his Islamic religions' intolerance of ANY other faith. As we have seen over and over, once the muslins have a toe hole, they go more and more radical.

A reminder of the events, heroes and murder victims that led up to former Major Nidal Hasan awaiting President Trump’s signature on the paperwork for his military execution, as reported yesterday.
[Hot Air] On November 5, 2009, an Army psychiatrist named Nidal Malik Hasan took a pistol fitted with a laser sight, entered an Army processing center on Fort Hood in Texas, and proceeded to slaughter his fellow unarmed and defenseless soldiers as they prepared for a deployment.
By the time the Army major was stopped, he had killed some thirteen fellow servicemen and wounded more than thirty others. The packed, confined quarters helped Hasan in his deadly attack.
...The shooting began about 1:30 Central Time at Hood’s Soldier Family Readiness Center where Cone said soldiers from multiple units were crowded into the center for a scheduled weekly "make up time" for medical and dental appointments.
Casualties were high due to the enclosed location, but would have been much worse were it not for the training and quick reaction of the soldiers, Cone said, adding that he was on the scene quickly after the shooting began.
"Suffice it to say...the American soldier did a great job," he said.
From the reports of eyewitnesses, he said, the soldiers — "many of them combat lifesavers" -- reacted instantaneously, ripping off parts of their own clothing to treat the wounded.
"I credit the first responders," he said. "God bless these soldiers and Department of Army civilians. As horrible as this was, it could have been much worse."
...The suspect is believed to have used two handguns in the shooting, one a semiautomatic, Cone said. And in responding to a question, "As a matter of practice, we do not carry weapons on Fort Hood," he said. "This is our home."
The only saving grace was that Hasan had attacked a room full of combat veterans getting ready to head back out.
Once the initial shock of the attack passed, battle-tested Army members swung into action, either in concert against their attacker or to immediately attend to offering life-saving aid to wounded comrades.
