$660K in Cocaine, Meth Seized from Drug Mules at Texas Border Crossing
[BB] In the span of less than a week, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers managed to derail the plans of two drug couriers to bring $657,000 in narcotics into the United States through a single port of entry. Two United States citizens are now facing criminal charges for their roles in the failed smuggling venture at the Del Rio, Texas, Port of Entry.

The first of the two failed drug smuggling events unfolded on October 8, when a man driving a 2013 GMC Acadia sought entry into the United States from Mexico at the Del Rio International Bridge. A CBP Office of Field Operations officer referred the driver and vehicle to a secondary inspection area for a thorough inspection.

During the inspection process, officers examined the vehicle using non-intrusive technology. Based on the scan results, officers conducted a physical search and found 16 packages of suspected contraband hidden in the vehicle. Officers examined the packages and found they contained a total of 23.68 pounds of a substance believed to be cocaine. Officials said the contraband has an estimated street value of $316,142.

CBP officers seized the narcotics and referred the case to ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agents, who arrested the driver, a 23-year-old United States citizen. A criminal investigation of the incident is underway.

On Sunday, officers at the same port of entry thwarted another smuggling attempt when a man attempted to enter the United States from Mexico while driving a 2005 Ford Expedition. After an initial interview, officers referred the driver and vehicle to a secondary inspection area for a more detailed search. Officers conducted a secondary examination of the vehicle using a non-intrusive inspection system.

After conducting a physical search based on the results of the scan, officers located 30 packages containing a total of 37.08 pounds of a substance believed to be methamphetamine hidden under the spare tire of the vehicle. The street value of the contraband is estimated to be $340,975.

CBP officers seized the contraband and referred the case to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS). The driver was placed under arrest by DPS investigators and now faces prosecution under the Texas Controlled Substances Act.

#1  Color me skeptical. Seizures like this have been announced periodically during all of the administrations I can remember and yet there was never any shortage of the narcotics on the street. The seizures always seemed more like PR stunts than serious interdiction. I never got the feeling the government was really serious about the the so-called war on drugs.

I want to see how many people are dying from fentanyl and other opiate overdoses during Trump's administration compared to previous administrations.

I was encouraged when the Coast Guard and Navy started sinking the drug boats at sea.

#2  The seizures always seemed more like PR stunts than serious interdiction.

It depends on what the meaning of "is" is. Is the goal to reduce the amount of drugs on the street, or is the goal to remind everyone to pay their "taxes" on time?

hard boyz and captured another during a planned operation in the Bay region, the military said.

The operation was conducted by Gorgor commandos in Hinshiloole, an area between the southwestern city of Baidoa and the settlement of Deynuunay, where al-Shabaab fighters were reportedly gathering.

Military officers leading the operation confirmed that two hard boyz were killed during an assault on their position, while another was captured alive.

The operation involved units from the 171st and 175th battalions of the 17th Brigade, First Division of the Somali National Army.

The troops have been conducting planned operations across parts of the Bay region targeting al-Shabaab members, according to the military.

US military destroys Iranian-affiliated ship in Gulf of Oman after evacuating crew
[Jpost] “Crew members were safely removed prior to the destruction of the dhow. Repatriation efforts are ongoing,” CENTCOM confirmed.

The US military destroyed an Iranian-affiliated dhow in the Gulf of Oman on Wednesday, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced in an X/Twitter post.

The ship was targeted after being observed "conducting surveillance and targeting US Navy ships in the Gulf of Oman," according to CENTCOM.

Over the past seven months, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has continued to target thousands of civilian mariners transiting regional waters, as well as US Navy warships, CENTCOM added.

"Crew members were safely removed prior to the destruction of the dhow. Repatriation efforts are ongoing," CENTCOM confirmed.

US ARMY DISABLES PANAMA VESSEL IN GULF OF OMAN
The ship's destruction comes after an October 10 announcement by CENTCOM that it had disabled a commercial vessel in the Gulf of Oman after its crew ignored repeated warnings and attempted to bypass the US naval blockade of Iranian ports along the Strait of Hormuz.

The Panama-flagged vessel, named the Ocean Molica and also known as the Arika Sun, was struck by a US military fighter jet, disabling its propulsion system without harming the crew, according to CENTCOM.

Houthis claimed a missile struck a Saudi Arabian Air Force fighter jet
Direct Translation via Google Translate. Edited
[Regnum] The Yemeni Shiite movement Ansar Allah (Houthis) shot down a Saudi Arabian Air Force Typhoon fighter jet over Saada Province in northwestern Yemen. Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria announced this on October 14.

"Our armed forces struck a Saudi Typhoon military aircraft taking off from the Al-Taif airbase. It was attacked in the airspace of Saada Governorate by a surface-to-air missile," Saria clarified on Telegram.

He added that a direct hit on the fighter was recorded and the plane could crash.

Earlier, Saudi Arabia's Civil Defense reported that at least four people were injured when two missiles were intercepted over Riyadh. Falling debris also damaged 15 residential buildings. Prior to this, the anti-Houthi coalition reported intercepting four cruise missiles and two drones over Saudi Arabian territory.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saria announced an attack by the Shiite military-political movement Ansar Allah on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation reported that a new attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh killed one person and injured several others. Damage to the airport is still being assessed.

Cyber
Israeli firm used online ads to run vast spy operation, researchers say
[Reuters] Israeli digital advertising agency Discover-Tech spied on internet users through a sprawling network of online ads that it used to track targets and help hack their devices, two research groups said on Thursday.

Its services gave Israel's Candiru — a spyware company blacklisted by the US government — as well as ‌other Israeli surveillance firms access to advertising platforms run by Google, Comcast, Russia's Yandex and others, according to separate reports from Canadian cyber watchdog group Citizen Lab and New York advertising security firm Confiant.

The reports show how the online advertising business, long a subject of privacy concerns, can also serve as a channel for sweeping espionage campaigns.

"The way online advertising works today is a systemic security threat," Wolfie Cristl, a senior researcher at Citizen Lab, told Reuters. "For states, the private sector, civil society and everyone else alike."

Discover-Tech's online ads — often for ordinary products such as phones or earpods — reached more than 120,000 websites and 75,000 apps through its various partnerships, Citizen Lab said.

Users who visited sites or used apps with the malicious ads could be identified and tracked by Discover-Tech, which would sometimes also try to extract phone numbers from some smartphone users, the researchers said. Ads only needed to load on a website for the spying to occur.

Some ads would be used to help plant spyware from Candiru on users' devices, both research groups said, though Confiant said that ads it tied to Candiru were a tiny fraction of Discover-Tech's overall volume.

Confiant cofounder Jerome Dangu said Discover-Tech was pumping out at least 10 million ads per day all around the world and that data-sharing arrangements — called cookie matching — allowed it to track people even beyond the reach of its advertisements.

"Very likely hundreds of millions of people would have been touched by Discover-Tech," Dangu said.

Discover-Tech, which was founded in 2020, did not return messages left via its contact form. A LinkedIn message and emails sent to its chief executive, Dekel Boni, were not returned.

Reuters' attempts to reach Candiru's owners were not successful. The US Commerce Department blacklisted Candiru in 2021 for allegedly supplying spyware that was used to maliciously target government officials, journalists, activists and academics.

Citizen Lab said a powerful form of Candiru spyware delivered through Discover-Tech's ads had been used to compromise 45 Windows devices at the Qatari broadcaster Al Jazeera between 2024 and 2025, something it said it was able to confirm because ‌the media group had shared its network logs with the group. Al Jazeera did not return messages seeking comment.

Dangu of Confiant said that the malicious ads had been shown to users in "hundreds of networks in sensitive categories," including the Pentagon, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the International Criminal Court. He also said that some regions, like the Palestinian territories, were particularly saturated by the Israeli firm's ads.

"You go to almost any site in Palestine — any site — you find a Discover-Tech ad. It gives them a very complete visibility on the digital activities of an entire country," he said.

Citizen Lab also said it had similar evidence showing the malicious ads were shown to people in the United Nations, NATO, the European Commission, and more than a dozen other national governments. Other networks the ads appeared in included chip-related firms such as Nvidia, Sandisk, Broadcom, and Micron, as well as several media organizations in Mexico, Israel, and Europe that were not identified.

In addition to identifying Candiru and a couple of other surveillance vendors, Citizen Lab said it was able to glean some details about where Discover-Tech's users might be based because the firm inadvertently exposed its authentication logs to the internet, showing people logging in from internet protocol addresses in Israel, Europe, and the Gulf.

Iraq
Iraqi general, soldier killed in Kirkuk blast
[Rudaw] An Iraqi army brigadier general and a warrant officer were killed on Wednesday when a remnant bomb went kaboom! in Wadi Zghaitun, Kirkuk province, as troops inspected the site of Arclight airstrike
...KABOOM!...
s carried out a day earlier, Iraq’s Defense Ministry said.

The ministry identified the dead as Brigadier General Ahat Yasser Khudair, head of the 11th Infantry Division’s communications unit, and Warrant Officer Mutaz Shaheed Abbas.

The two were inspecting an Islamic State
...formerly ISIS or ISIL, depending on your preference. Before that they were al-Qaeda in Iraq, as shaped by Abu Musab Zarqawi. They're really very devout, committing every atrocity they can find in the Koran and inventing a few more. They fling Allah around with every other sentence, but to hear western pols talk they're not really Moslems....
(ISIS) hideout targeted by Iraqi Airforce F-16 fighter jets on Tuesday in Wadi Zghitun when the device went kaboom!, according to the ministry.

Two more soldiers were maimed in the blast and evacuated for medical treatment, Rudaw has learned.

On Tuesday, Iraq’s Security Media Cell announced that the air force had carried out three strikes targeting ISIS hideouts in Wadi Zitun, based on intelligence provided by the Military Intelligence Directorate and in coordination with the air reconnaissance and surveillance center at the office of the commander-in-chief of the armed forces.

The cell said all targeted hideouts had been destroyed but did not specify whether any bandidos Lions of Islam were killed.

Wadi Zghaitun lies in the disputed province of Kirkuk,
... a thick stew of Arabs, Turkmen, Kurds, and probably Antarcticans, all of them mutually hostile most of the time...
where ISIS sleeper cells continue to pose a security threat despite the group’s territorial defeat in Iraq in late 2017.

The latest fatalities come two weeks after the US-led Coalition concluded its military mission in Iraq on September 30, transferring greater responsibility for counterterrorism operations to Iraqi security forces.

Speaking at the Middle East Research Institute (MERI) Forum in Erbil on Tuesday, Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasim al-Abboudi acknowledged that IS sleeper cells remained active in some parts of the country but maintained that Iraqi forces were prepared to assume responsibility following the coalition’s withdrawal.

He also acknowledged the need for improved technology to monitor bully boy movements in remote areas.

Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Rebar Ahmed warned at the same forum that the threat from ISIS remained and stressed the importance of continued international support, including intelligence sharing, training, and military cooperation.

The Iraqi Defense Ministry vowed to continue pursuing ISIS remnants and preventing them from threatening the country’s security.

Syria-Lebanon-Iran
Iran executes January protester Ali Mostafavi on charges of 'waging war against god'
[Rudaw] Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. The word Iran is a cognate form of Aryan. The abbreviation IRGC is the same idea as Stürmabteilung (or SA). The term Supreme Guide is a the modern version form of either Duce or Führer or maybe both. They hate Jews Zionists Jews. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
executed Ali-Sina Mostafavi, a musician and professional mountaineer from the southeastern province of Kerman, on Wednesday after convicting him of "waging war against God" over alleged armed attacks, according to the judiciary, a day after a rights group warned that his execution was imminent.

The Iranian judiciary’s media center said Mostafavi was executed Wednesday morning after the Supreme Court upheld his death sentence
...the barbaric practice of sentencing a murderer to be punished for as long as his/her/its victim is dead...
, according to a statement carried by state media.

The judiciary accused Mostafavi of carrying out shootings in Kerman on March 24 and April 21, allegedly injuring several people, including a maiden of tender years. It also claimed he had attempted two other shootings targeting police along the Kerman-Mahan road.

His execution comes amid a wave of executions linked to the nationwide anti-government protests that erupted in December 2025 and continued into January. Human rights organizations have condemned the use of the death penalty
against protesters and raised concerns about unfair trials and confessions obtained under torture.

The judiciary further alleged that messages recovered from Mostafavi's phone showed he had expressed willingness to carry out an attack at Kerman airport.
It also accused him of filming locations struck during the war involving Iran, Israel and the United States and sending the footage to opposition media outlets.

Iranian authorities alleged that Mostafavi had acted in support of Reza Pahlavi, the exiled son of Iran's last shah, and Israel. The judiciary also acknowledged that Mostafavi had participated in January's unrest and sent photographs and videos to media outlets abroad.

The allegations against Mostafavi could not be independently verified.

According to Breathing in Confinement, the news outlet of the Prisoners' Rights League in Iran, Mostafavi was arrested at his home on April 25 and was allegedly beaten by security forces during his arrest.

The rights group reported that Branch 1 of the Kerman Revolutionary Court sentenced him to death and that Branch 41 of the Supreme Court upheld the ruling on September 28.

On Tuesday, Breathing in Confinement warned that Mostafavi had been transferred to solitary confinement in Kerman prison, raising concerns that his execution was imminent.

The group also described Mostafavi as an accomplished mountaineer who had climbed Island Peak and Kala Patthar in Nepal and attempted to summit Ama Dablam in the Himalayas.

US-based Iranian civil society organization Tavaana separately identified Mostafavi as a musician and professional mountaineer who had participated in January's anti-government protests.

The organization reported that he had been transferred to solitary confinement at Kerman's Shahab prison on Tuesday and that prison authorities had contacted his family to arrange a final visit. It also published footage it identified as showing Mostafavi playing music.

In a September report, Norway-based Iran Human Rights (IHRNGO) identified at least 100 protesters arrested in connection with January's unrest who were at risk of the death penalty, including five who were under 18 at the time of their alleged offenses and five women.

The organization warned that the documented cases represented only a fraction of those at risk across Iran.

IHRNGO reported on October 5 that at least 34 people had been executed in connection with the December 2025-January 2026 protests since March 19.

Amnesty International, in a statement on Tuesday, also documented at least 34 protest-related executions and condemned what it described as grossly unfair trials, allegations of torture and the use of forced confessions.

Iran Guards say cargo ship sank in Hormuz after hitting mine
[IsraelTimes] UK agency says Singaporean-flagged ship hit by projectile and sank; unclear if two statements refer to same vessel

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Wednesday that a ship caught fire and sank in the Strait of Hormuz because of a mine, while British security firm Vanguard also reported a sinking.

“A container ship attempting to cross the Strait of Hormuz using an unauthorized and dangerous shipping lane struck a mine that exploded,” said the navy of the IRGC, the Iranian paramilitary tasked with advancing the ideology of the 1979 revolution.

Images released by the IRGC showed a plume of black smoke rising from a ship, while dozens of containers that had fallen into the sea floated on the water. The IRGC said the ship was carrying more than 2,500 containers.

Iran claims control of the strait, through which one-fifth of the world’s hydrocarbons passed before the Middle East war. It regularly targets ships it accuses of transiting without authorization, while the US has imposed its own blockade on Iran’s ports.

According to Vanguard, the GFS Pride, a Singapore-flagged container ship, was struck by a projectile on Tuesday and sank.

It was not clear if the two statements referred to the same ship.

Vanguard reported three other ships struck on Tuesday, with two of them continuing on their way and the fate of the third unknown.

Iranian Balochi forces inflicted heavy losses on the IRGC and its Afghan Shia Fatemiyoun fighters

Text:

Iranian Balochi forces say they inflicted heavy losses on the IRGC and its Afghan Shia Fatemiyoun fighters before issuing a unifying message to the people of Iran.

The People’s Fighters Front claims more than 20 regime fighters, most of them Fatemiyoun members, were killed alongside field commander Yaser Baqi during clashes in Taftan. It also reported separate operations against IRGC and Fatemiyoun forces near Zahedan and Chabahar.

The group says three of its own Iranian fighters were killed while helping others withdraw to safety.

Its broader message was unmistakably national. It called Iran “our beloved homeland” and said its struggle is for all Iranians, not only Balochistan.

The statement called on the Iranian nation to unite and free itself and Iran from 47 years of oppression under the Islamic Republic’s delusional, sectarian rule of velayat-e faqih.

Two Iranian security forces killed in separate attacks in southeast Sistan-Baluchestan: Watchdog

[Rudaw] An Iranian commander and a police officer were killed in two separate attacks on Wednesday in Iran’s southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan province after unidentified gunnies opened fire, a rights group and state media reported.

Haalvsh, an independent watchdog that monitors human rights
...not to be confused with individual rights, mind you...
violations in Sistan and Baluchestan, reported the deaths of Afsaneh Aqila, a female commander of the all women’s Basij unit in Mehrestan County and Mohammad Ali Shahriari, a male police officer. Both casualties were from Zabol district.

Iran’s state-run Islamic republic of Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Their economy is based on the production of oil and vitriol...
broadcasting IRIB confirmed the identities of the officers. Haalvsh additionally stated that three other officers were maimed and reported "several IRGC military and aviation helicopters patrolling and flying at very low altitudes" over the province continuously.

No group has grabbed credit for the attacks.

The latest confrontation comes amid a wave of attacks against Iranian security forces in the southeastern province, which borders Pakistain and Afghanistan.

Sistan and Baluchestan, populated mainly by Iran's ethnic Baloch and Sunni Moslem communities, has long faced deep-rooted security challenges, with Iranian security forces confronting Baloch gangs.

During festivities on Tuesday in Taftan county, the rights monitor cited local sources having reported that around 18 cycle of violences and four military vehicles were present when the fighting began between the IRGC and gunnies early that day. As festivities intensified, nearly 40 more military vehicles carrying reinforcements were reportedly sent to the area.

Later that day People’s Fighters Front, a Baloch bad boy group, issued a statement claiming responsibility for a series of festivities, ambushes and explosions over the past 24 hours in Taftan, Kourin, Zahedan, and Chabahar, according to the watchdog.

More than 20 personnel, mostly members of the Fatemiyoun, an Afghan Shiite militia created and trained by Iran’s IRGC, along with their field commander, IRGC officer Yaser Bagheri, were killed, the group said.

Sistan and Baluchestan is among Iran's poorest and most marginalized provinces, where longstanding grievances over economic deprivation, discrimination and the treatment of the predominantly Sunni Baloch population have fueled resentment towards Tehran.

The province was also the scene of one of the deadliest crackdowns during Iran's nationwide protests in 2022.

On September 30 that year, Iranian security forces opened fire on protesters and worshippers in Zahedan in what became known as Bloody Friday.

Amnesty International documented at least 66 people killed that day, with more deaths recorded in the aftermath.

The continued attacks, despite repeated security operations and the killing of several bad boy commanders in recent years, highlight the persistent security challenges facing Tehran in the border region and the growing importance of cooperation with Pakistain to prevent further cross-border violence.

…approve of separatism, nor will I blindly praise the JMM militant group. I don't know this group, and as of writing this I don't trust them either. They claim to fight for all of Iran after merging several militant groups together, but at least one faction among them are historically Baloch separatists. They are also very conservative sunni muslims.

Therefore, I won't boost their videos or statements for the time being. Until I know where the Shah and his team stand regarding this group and where they stand regarding him, I won't give them my attention.

However, I can speak about what the last few weeks of fighting could mean for Iran:

Regardless of what I think of JMM, their targets have Iranian blood on their hands and undoubtedly deserve it.

IRGC thugs, basijis, regime linked clerics and foreign proxy terrorists are all being killed at a growing rate. Police stations, bases and checkpoints are raided. Patrols come under attack as they drive through cities. There's been at least one case of fighting reaching the Kerman region. Today, a female basiji commander was assassinated in front of her house. Yesterday, dozens of Afghan proxy terrorists were wiped out. Last month, a regime linked sunni cleric was shot dead. Many of the assassinations are very high ranking.

I don't know what suddenly changed, but it's gotten very deadly and dangerous to be an islamic regime figure in S&B.

What does all of this mean?

1) The islamic regime is losing control.

2) Regime thugs used to feel safe and protected. Now they don't. Psychologically this will do serious damage, especially to lower ranking demoralised basijis who aren't receiving their blood money salaries anymore due to sanctions.

3) If this keeps up, the islamic regime will have to send large forces from other regions to go fight in S&B. I shouldn't have to explain that this will benefit the rest of Iran when the next uprising happens. Thousands of IRGC terrorists forced to fight in the South East means thousands fewer IRGC to oppress Iranians in other provinces. It means evening out the playing field.

Again, this is an analysis, not an endorsement of JMM. They still need to clarify their stance on Iran's territorial integrity, their stance on the Shah, and their stance on separatism and islamism. We also need to know what their actual goal is once the islamic regime is overthrown.

Until then, as far as I'm concerned, the IRGC is getting killed in big numbers from within Iran and seemingly without any outside assistance, and that's what I will focus on.

What's happening in S&B is going to have huge consequences for Iran in the coming months, and everyone should pay attention.

#4  20 militia killed in one day

well OK, but that isn't what I would call 'heavy losses'

and, for example, the Viet Cong lost 2000 in one week (and about 500k in the decade 65-75), that's what I would call heavy losses

Russia has lost over 3000 in some weeks vs Ukraine, also what I would call heavy losses

The allies lost over 4k on D Day. Also, heavy losses.

#5  ^ All true, LG, but demoralizing for unpaid IRGC and Basij. Gotta be looking unenthusiastic when your (paid) superiors aren't getting killed

#6  Nice to see regime supporters in fear for their lives.

If the IRGC can't prevent or reduce their losses in southeast Iran, then it's a sign that their hold on Iran is gotten a lot weaker.
