[Politico] Rep. Eric Swalwell’s campaign for governor was reeling Friday after two news reports detailed accusations of sexual assault and misconduct, with multiple staffers resigning and both prominent allies and rival candidates calling on the California Democrat to exit the race.
The exodus, which began just before the San Francisco Chronicle published a report detailing a former staffer’s claims, jolted California’s marquee race just weeks before ballots start landing in voters’ mailboxes. The former staffer told the newspaper that Swalwell had sexual encounters with her while working for him, and that he sexually assaulted her twice when she was too drunk to consent.
Hours later, CNN reported on that ex-staffer and three additional women who accused Swalwell of making sexual advances and sending explicit photos and messages. And POLITICO reported that a former Swalwell employee had signed an agreement over an employment discrimination claim that included confidentiality and non-disparagement clauses, despite his campaign saying no one on his staff signed an NDA during his tenure.
The dominoes tumbled quickly. Top staffers departed the campaign shortly before the Chronicle story published. Major endorsers began rescinding or pausing their support. And a pro-Swalwell independent expenditure committee said it was suspending operations.
Swalwell’s two campaign co-chairs, Reps. Jimmy Gomez and Adam Gray, called on Swalwell to drop out — a stunning rebuke from key surrogates who had helped introduce Swalwell to power players in Sacramento, where both served in the state Assembly.

I'm thinking, I'm hoping, that this benefits the Republican candidates Chad Bianco and Steve Hilton more than any of the others because the others are all Democrat whack jobs.
I mean Katie Porter? Tom Steyer? They're both as creepy as Swalwell if not even worse. Will the voters in this state be able to see that? Dunno but I'm hoping.
We'd still have a Democrat super majority in the legislature but a veto here and there might at least slow them down.

I don't know about the accuser's credibility either. She kept working for him after the first encounter. She did not report either encounter to the police. Even if she could get a DA to prosecute, the charges would not stand up in court. It'd be he said, she said. No jury would convict.
But listening to her story, as drunk as she says she was and could only remember brief flashes of the encounters, I wonder if he gave her some roofies.

IIRC it was the Democrats who introduced using sexual assault claims using people of questionable credibility and claims that could not be proven to be real or false to bring down opponents.
I want to believe the POS is guilty of what he is be accused. I also find that I don't care if he turns out to be innocent as long as his political comes to an end.

[FoxNews] Seattle police and crime victims say they’re being left behind as Mayor Katie Wilson focuses on clashes with ICE while repeat offenders continue to drive crime across the city.
"I think the center focus on that right now is ICE," Officer Kent Loux, president of the Seattle Police Officers Guild (SPOG), told Fox News Digital in an interview.
"It is the immigration," Loux said. "It's this federal feud that the mayor's office is having with the federal government. That is the confusion. I think if she wants to have her feud, have it. Leave SPOG out of it. We do not need to be a part of it, we have been apolitical on all these demonstrations. We clearly can demonstrate that. We are not worried about taking a side. We're not wanting to take a side, but putting us in this crossfire physically or potentially politically just isn't fair to SPOG members."
Shortly after taking office on Jan. 1, Wilson announced on Jan. 29 a policy requiring the Seattle Police Department to "investigate, verify, and document any reports of immigration enforcement activity."
The announcement stated that "if dispatched to a location where apparent immigration enforcement activity is underway, officers will document the activity with in-car and body-worn video, validate the status of apparent federal law enforcement agents through official identification, and secure scenes of potentially unlawful acts to gather evidence for transmittal to prosecutors."
Loux told Fox News Digital that while Seattle law enforcement officers do not investigate immigration status and that "it is of no importance to us," Wilson’s stance is "confusing."
"The current city's policy on us investigating ICE is very confusing for officers," Loux said. "What does investigating mean? What does identifying mean? This is a disastrous policy that is potentially putting officers and federal law enforcement officers pitting against one another. Not just maybe a physical crossfire situation, but also a political crossfire situation."
According to Loux, the city’s law enforcement officers are already struggling in a less-than-ideal environment.
"The members of the Seattle Police Department are trying their best," Loux said, "They're out there working, they're making arrests every day. They are doing the work. Understand, please understand, that the criminal justice system is much larger than just the police officers. We are hitting obstacles with King County Medical Jail declines. We're hitting obstacles with prosecution, with judges releasing people."
"We are spinning our wheels, and it really is trying on us," Loux added. "Please understand we are hundreds of officers short. And we have people working extra shifts all the time to just get to minimums. So we are working, delays are sometimes significant. We're trying to improve that as best we can, but people are — we are stretched thin."

Clearly, Mamdani is struggling to convince even progressive voters who didn’t vote for him that he’s doing a good job.
But the numbers are even more devastating when you add more context.
Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams had a 61% approval rating at the same point in his term, proving that Mamdani is having a harder time convincing New Yorkers he’s doing a good job than his predecessor did.
The Marist poll, conducted March 26-31 among 1,454 New York City adults with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points, reveals a city that remains skeptical but is still forming its verdict. While 30% disapprove of Mamdani's performance. 23% remain undecided — a number that Marist polling director Lee Miringoff flagged as a meaningful vulnerability. "There are a lot of people still on the fence. The jury is out," Miringoff told The New York Post.
The sharpest drag on Mamdani's numbers comes from a specific and politically significant corner of the electorate: Jewish voters. Only 38% of Jewish residents view Mamdani favorably, while 55% view him unfavorably, putting him underwater with Jewish New Yorkers by 17 points. They are the only religious group in the poll giving him a net-negative rating.
Miringoff noted Mamdani's continued unpopularity in this community directly.
