The Department of War on Monday identified four of the six U.S. Army Reserve soldiers killed in a March 1 drone attack in Kuwait while supporting Operation Epic Fury, and officials said the incident remains under investigation.
The soldiers were killed at the Port of Shuaiba during what officials described as an unmanned aircraft system attack. All were assigned to the 103rd Sustainment Command in Des Moines, Iowa, which provides logistical and operational support to U.S. forces overseas.
The fallen service members were identified as Capt. Cody Khork, 35, of Lakeland, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; Sgt. 1st Class Noah Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; and Sgt. Declan Coady, 20, of Des Moines, Iowa. Two additional soldiers killed in the attack have not yet been publicly identified.
Lt. Gen. Robert Harter, chief of Army Reserve and commanding general of U.S. Army Reserve Command, said the loss is deeply felt across the force.
"We honor our fallen Heroes who served fearlessly and selflessly in defense of our nation," Harter said. "Their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of their families, will never be forgotten."
Officials said the soldiers were supporting operations in the region when the drone strike occurred.
Khork enlisted in the National Guard in 2009 as a multiple launch rocket system/fire direction specialist before commissioning as a military police officer in the Army Reserve in 2014. He deployed to Saudi Arabia in 2018; Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, in 2021; and Poland in 2024. His awards include the meritorious service medal, Army Commendation Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with 10 Year Device and "M" Device.
Amor joined the National Guard in 2005 as an automated logistics specialist and transferred to the Army Reserve the following year. She deployed to Kuwait and Iraq in 2019 and earned multiple commendations, including the Army Commendation Medal and the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with "M" Device.
Tietjens entered the Army Reserve in 2006 as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and completed two deployments to Kuwait in 2009 and 2019. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Army Achievement Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star.
Rep. Don Bacon, R-Neb., said on X he was heartbroken to learn of Tietjens’ death.
"A native of Bellevue, he dedicated his life to defending our country and protecting the freedoms we hold dear," Bacon wrote. "No words can fully express the sorrow his family and friends are enduring during this unimaginable loss.
"Angie and I are praying for their healing and comfort in the days ahead. We also extend our deepest condolences to the loved ones of Capt. Cody Khork, Sgt. 1st Class Nicole Amor, and Sgt. Declan Coady," he added. "These four soldiers are American heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice, and their courage and devotion to duty will never be forgotten."
The youngest of the four identified soldiers, Coady enlisted in the Army Reserve in 2023 as an Army information technology specialist and was posthumously promoted from specialist to sergeant. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal and the Overseas Service Ribbon.
Iowa gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand also issued a statement.
"Iowa: please join me in praying for Declan Coady, a 20-year-old Army Reservist and Drake student, who was one of the lives lost among the escalating conflict in the Middle East," the statement said. "Join me in also praying for his family and loved ones and for all the communities he was part of, and thanking him for his service and ultimate sacrifice."
Maj. Gen. Todd Erskine, commanding general of the 79th Theater Sustainment Command, said the soldiers’ service reflected the highest ideals of the military.
"To the families and teammates of these Cactus Nation Soldiers: you have my deepest sympathy and my respect," Erskine said. "Our nation is kept safe by folks like these – brave men and women who put it all on the line every single day. They represent the heart of America. We will remember their names, their service, and their sacrifice."

AFGHAN COMBATANTS KILLED
Providing an operational update, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said that as of 4pm on Tuesday, Pak armed forces had killed 464 Afghan Taliban personnel and injured over 665.
In a post on X, he said security forces had destroyed 188 checkposts and captured 31. He added that 192 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns had been destroyed, while 56 locations across Afghanistan had been effectively targeted through aerial operations.
Earlier, Mr Tarar said 40 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed in overnight operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where a physical attack was attempted at one location and fire raids were conducted at 12 points. All attacks were repulsed without civilian losses, he said.
In northern Balochistan, 27 Afghan Taliban personnel were killed after Lions of Islam launched physical attacks on 16 locations in Qilla Saifullah, Noshki and Chaman districts and engaged troops at 25 points.
"The attacks at all the locations have been effectively repulsed with Afghan Taliban suffering 27 killed and scores injured," the minister added. "One soldier of FC Balochistan North gave the ultimate sacrifice while defending the motherland, while five soldiers are injured."
BAGRAM AIR BASE HIT
The Pakistain Air Force struck the Bagram air base during ongoing Operation Ghazab lil-Haq, according to security sources.
The sources referred to a report they said was issued by Afghanistan’s defence ministry and detailed the damage caused by the strike. They said that Black Hawk helicopters, a Hercules cargo aircraft, a Tucano aircraft, armoured vehicles and other military equipment were destroyed in the strike.
In Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, Pakistani forces reportedly destroyed the Khugyani base in a separate air strike. Security sources said ground and air operations were continuing against Afghan Taliban elements and "Fitna Al Khawarij".

South Yemen.. Southern Soldier Killed and 5 Injured in Houthi Attack in Shabwa
A southern soldier was killed and five others were injured with varying wounds early Tuesday, as a result of shelling carried out by the Houthi group on a military site for the Southern Forces between Shabwa and Marib governorates.
Military sources said the Houthis targeted a site affiliated with the Fifth Infantry Brigade in the "Shabwa Defense" forces in the Beihan directorate west of Shabwa, which borders the Harib directorate in Marib, using "mortar" type artillery shells.
The sources clarified that the shelling resulted in the killing of a southern soldier and the injury of five others, who were transferred to hospitals in the city of Ateq to receive treatment.
THWARTING AN ATTACK WEST OF SHABWA
Meanwhile, the governmental "Saba Axis" forces announced that they repelled an attack launched by Houthi elements on military sites in the upper Murkha directorate west of Shabwa, which borders Al Bayda governorate.
The Axis's media center confirmed that forces of the Second Brigade managed to thwart the attack after clashes that lasted for hours, leading to the attackers' retreat and inflicting human and material losses on them.
REINFORCEMENTS ON THE FRONT LINES
Over the past weeks, the Houthi group has pushed human and military reinforcements to the front lines with the Southern and governmental forces, in a move considered the largest in two years, especially toward the western coast and the governorates of Marib and Shabwa, in an attempt to reshape the field equation in Yemen.
[NY Post] US and Ecuadorian forces launched joint operations Tuesday targeting suspected narco-terrorists in Ecuador, US Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) said.
SOUTHCOM said it was taking “decisive action” against designated terrorist organizations, though it was not immediately clear whether there were any casualties.
“On March 3, Ecuadorian and US military forces launched operations against Designated Terrorist Organizations in Ecuador,” SOUTHCOM posted on X.
“The operations are a powerful example of the commitment of partners in Latin America and the Caribbean to combat the scourge of narco-terrorism.”
SOUTHCOM added: “Together, we are taking decisive action to confront narco-terrorists who have long inflicted terror, violence, and corruption on citizens throughout the hemisphere.”
SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan praised Ecuador’s military for joining the US in the operations.
“We commend the men and women of the Ecuadorian armed forces for their unwavering commitment to this fight, demonstrating courage and resolve through continued actions against narco-terrorists in their country,” he said.
The US Embassy in Ecuador said Tuesday the United States “successfully concluded a joint operation” with Europol and Ecuadorian authorities dismantling the Hernán Ruilova Barzola transnational drug trafficking organization, which it said is linked to the Los Lobos cartel.
The announcement follows a series of US strikes targeting suspected drug-trafficking operations in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.
Last week, US forces struck a suspected narco-trafficking vessel in the Caribbean tied to designated terrorist organizations, killing three suspected traffickers.
That strike came after SOUTHCOM said last month it had carried out three strikes in the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean, killing 11.
Overall, the US has conducted at least 43 strikes on alleged drug-smuggling vessels, killing 150 people in the Caribbean and Eastern Pacific.
American Special Forces are advising Ecuadorian commandos during raids on suspected drug shipment facilities and other locations linked to narcotics operations, according to a US official who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss operational matters to the New York Times.
The official said US personnel are not believed to be participating directly in the assaults themselves but are helping Ecuadorian forces plan missions while supplying intelligence and logistical assistance.
Although Ecuador does not produce cocaine itself, the country has become a major trafficking corridor for drugs originating in neighboring Colombia and Peru.
The surge in criminal violence tied to those networks has transformed Ecuador into one of the region's most volatile security hotspots.
Ecuador's president has increasingly relied on the country's armed forces to combat criminal groups responsible for soaring violence.
President Noboa has centered much of his presidency on a sweeping crackdown against drug cartels and organized crime, which he says are driving record homicide levels in the country.
The new joint raids come shortly after senior military leaders from across the Western Hemisphere gathered in Washington.
General Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, hosted commanders from multiple countries to discuss deeper coordination against transnational criminal networks and drug trafficking groups.
Ecuador has grown into one of Washington's closest security partners in South America since President Donald Trump returned to the White House last year.
His administration has made combating drug trafficking and strengthening border security a central element of its national security strategy.
In recent months, the United States has also conducted dozens of strikes against boats in the Caribbean Sea and eastern Pacific Ocean that officials say were involved in transporting narcotics.
According to publicly known figures, at least 150 people have been killed in 44 such strikes since early September.
The Trump administration has argued those operations are part of a broader campaign to disrupt drug smuggling routes heading toward North America.

Hezbollah fired three rockets toward Tel Aviv and the Haifa area, setting off sirens across central Israel and parts of the north.
Air defenses intercepted two of the rockets, and one landed in an open area, causing no injuries, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The military later said that it destroyed the launcher in a strike within an hour of the attack.
In all, Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets and several drones at northern Israel on Tuesday. One rocket hit a home in a border community, injuring one.

According to the IDF, the anti-tank guided missile attack caused no damage or injuries. A short while later, an Israeli Air Force drone struck and killed the operative, alongside other members of the terror group who were with him, near the village of Arnoun, the army said.
A senior Hezbollah official said that after more than a year of abiding by a ceasefire as Israel’s strikes continued on Lebanon, the group’s patience has ended, leaving it with no option but to fight Israel.

ISRAEL SAYS ’NO SAFE PLACE’ FOR IRAN IN LEBANON
In response to the attacks, the Israeli military issued an unusual threat against Iranian regime officials in Lebanon, warning that they will be targeted if they do not leave the country within 24 hours.
"The IDF warns representatives of the Iranian terror regime who are still in Lebanon to leave immediately before being targeted," said army front man Col. Avichay Adraee.
"The IDF warns that it will not tolerate any presence of representatives of the Iranian terror regime in Lebanon and will grant regime representatives currently in Lebanon 24 hours to leave the country," Adraee said. "After that, there will be no safe place for representatives of the Iranian regime in Lebanon, and the IDF will target them wherever they are found."
The warning came as Israel carried out airstrikes around Lebanon. The IDF said the Israeli Air Force had carried out a wave of airstrikes against some 60 Hezbollah targets across southern Lebanon on Tuesday night.
According to the IDF, the strikes targeted weapon depots, missile launchers, command centers, and other infrastructure belonging to the Lebanese terror group.
The military said it struck several "central" sites belonging to Hezbollah and the Hamas ..a contraction of the Arabic words for "frothing at the mouth",... terror group in Sidon and Tyre.
"The infrastructure sites were used by the terror organizations to advance and carry out various terror attacks against IDF troops and Israeli civilians," the IDF said.
Before carrying out the strikes, the IDF issued evacuation warnings for Lebanese civilians in the area.
Hezbollah ally al-Jama’a al-Islamiyya said its command center in Sidon was targeted by Israel, after the IDF told people to flee the area within 300 meters (328 yards) of a building in the coastal Lebanese city.
That seems awfully specific, so I suppose we should be impressed…
The IDF also issued an evacuation warning for buildings in the Lebanese coastal city of Tyre and three villages in southern Lebanon, ahead of airstrikes against Hezbollah infrastructure.
In other strikes, the IDF said it struck a Hezbollah rocket launcher in Lebanon used in a barrage on the Golan Heights. According to the military, the launcher was hit in a dronezap within minutes of the barrage of some 15 rockets.
Since Hezbollah joined the conflict on Monday, the IDF said Wednesday morning that it had struck over 250 targets in Lebanon, including 100 in the past day.
"Hezbollah made a very big mistake when it attacked us," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a visit to the Palmachim Airbase with Defense Minister Israel Katz and IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir.
"We have already responded forcefully, and we will respond with even greater and additional force," Netanyahu said.
Hezbollah is dragging Lebanon into a war "solely because of the death of that mass murderer with whom they have no connection," Netanyahu said, referring to Iran’s slain Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
"They need to look out for themselves, and they would do well to do so quickly. We will continue to do what is necessary for our defense," Netanyahu said.
Officials in Lebanon said at least 50 people had been killed in the airstrikes and 335 maimed, alongside tens of thousands who were displaced.
In southern Lebanon, the military said it estimated that some 300,000 Lebanese civilians had evacuated their villages after the IDF ordered them to leave. The IDF issued evacuation warnings for more than a dozen more south Lebanon villages overnight, and in total, warned the residents of more than 80 villages in Lebanon to leave their homes.
The IDF said it had sent additional troops into southern Lebanon and took new positions on several strategic points close to the border.
Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency said the Lebanese army was evacuating some of its border positions.
Also, in Tehran, an Israeli airstrike killed Daoud Alizadeh, the acting commander of the Lebanon Corps in Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Force, the IDF said. Alizadeh had taken responsibility for the IRGC Quds Force’s Lebanon Corps from Mohammad Reza Zahedi, who was killed in an Israeli strike on Damascus in April 2024, making him "the highest-ranking Iranian commander responsible for Lebanon," according to the military.
SYRIA BOLSTERS BORDER AS THOUSANDS FLEE
Syria reinforced its border with Lebanon with rocket units and thousands of troops, eight Syrian and Lebanese sources told Rooters.
The Syrian officers said the Syrian reinforcement operation began in February but sped up in recent days. The Syrian and Lebanese armed forces do not immediately respond to requests for comment.
The Syrian officers, including a senior member of the military, said the move was aimed at preventing arms and drugs smuggling as well as blocking Hezbollah or other bully boyz from infiltrating Syria.
A Syrian security official said Damascus had no plans for military action against any neighboring country, "But Syria is prepared to deal with any security threat to itself or its partners."
Thousands of Syrians living in Lebanon also crossed back into Syria, fleeing the Israeli strikes.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees said the number of people crossing from Lebanon into Syria jumped on Monday to 10,629 from typically between 3,900 and 4,400 a day since the holy Islamic month of Ramadan began in February. The vast majority were Syrian, but a small number of Lebanese citizens also crossed.
The Lebanese government also pushed back against Hezbollah on Tuesday. Lebanese broadcaster LBCI reported that the Lebanese army arrested 12 armed Hezbollah members at one of its checkpoints on Tuesday. Their arrest came after Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam declared Hezbollah’s military operations "illegal acts."

In a presser, IDF Spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin also said the military has dropped more munitions on Iran in the current, four-day-old US-Israeli bombing campaign than in the entire 12 days of June’s Operation Rising Lion.

[NYPost] An American submarine sank an Iranian warship named the Soleimani in the Indian Ocean overnight — the first such US attack on a member of an enemy fleet since World War II, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth announced Wednesday.
The “quiet death” strike on Iran’s prized vessel, the IRIS Shahid Soleimani, unfolded late Tuesday off the southern coast of Sri Lanka, Hegseth said, telling reporters during a Pentagon briefing that the ship “thought it was safe in international waters.”
“Instead, it was sunk by a torpedo. The first sinking of an enemy ship by a torpedo since World War II,” Hegseth added. “Like in that war, back when we were still the War Department, we are fighting to win.”
The Pentagon released video of the strike soon after Hegseth spoke.

Hmm, I did some research yesterday and there were 3 Iranian Navy ships who had participated in exercises off South Africa, went to India for their 'Fleet Week' and exercises and had returned home February 27th, the same day the attacks started. Looks like India's 'Fleet Week' and exercises ended on February 25th.
I find it odd it didn't return to Iran with the other three ships, but I doubt we'll ever know why.
[Reuters] Turkey said that NATO air defences destroyed an Iranian ballistic missile headed into Turkish airspace on Wednesday, marking the first time the alliance member has been drawn into the Middle East conflict and raising the possibility of a major expansion involving its bloc allies.
Turkey - Iran's neighbour that had sought to mediate U.S.-Iran talks before the air war that began at the weekend - warned "all parties to refrain from actions that would lead to further escalation," suggesting it was not poised to call upon the trans-Atlantic defence bloc for support.

Why would Iran shoot at Turkey? They already have their hands full with an outraged USA who put on his ass-kicking boots and a full NATO intervention is the last thing they want. Decapitating Iran must have them making poor decisions. Or maybe a Mossad asset is in charge now, that would make sense.

Israel and American forces pretty much took out Iran’s command-and-control in the first two days, I understand. Hence Lord Garth’s suggestions in-lined in the article. The missileers may not have known where their equipment was pointed, or just panicked and shot it off anyway.
Or someone decided to warn off Turkey from getting any bright ideas during these fraught times for Iran.

Israel destroys 300 missile launch platforms; Iran says 170 students, teachers killed
Compared with the first three days of the war, aerial attacks by US and Israeli forces were fewer on Tuesday, the fourth day of the war, with greater focus on Tehran. Israel announced that so far it has carried out 1,200 attacks on Iran, targeting 2,000 sites belonging to the Islamic Theocratic Republic and destroying 300 missile launch platforms across the country.
According to the information released, for the past two days the United States and Israel have been attempting to target meetings of Iran’s Assembly of Experts, which is expected to oversee the selection of the next spiritual leader of the Islamic Theocratic Republic. Because of the risks of attacks on the gatherings, two meetings have been held online, according to the Fars News Agency, and another meeting is scheduled for next week.
On Tuesday afternoon in the city of Qom, the office of Iran’s Assembly of Experts was targeted. Initial reports claimed the office was struck during a meeting to choose the next leader, but Iranian media and officials later denied this.
Late Monday night, the Assembly of Experts building in Tehran was also targeted. The body holds its meetings in the former Iranian parliament building, where its administrative affairs are also managed.
It remains unclear when Iran’s next leader will be selected. Fars News Agency, which is close to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reported Tuesday night that the Assembly of Experts is working on selecting a new leader, but its meetings are not proceeding normally. Although attacks were fewer on Tuesday compared to previous days, a number of military bases and facilities were targeted in the provinces of Tehran, Qom, Isfahan, Hormozgan, Ardabil, and Sistan and Baluchestan.
On the fourth day of the war, the US and Israel struck several locations in the capital Tehran. According to circulating reports, a target in the Hakimiyeh industrial district in eastern Tehran was bombed Tuesday night.
Several targets in Tehran’s Fakouri neighborhood were also bombed Tuesday evening. A number of buildings were hit in the attacks, at least one of which was a security or military facility.
Mehrabad Airport and an air force base in Tehran were once again bombed. Several locations around Azadi Square were also targeted.
On Tuesday afternoon, several targets were struck in the Aghdasieh and Jamaran neighborhoods, around Enghelab Square, and along Madani Street.
On the main Tehran—Karaj highway, a large weapons and ammunition warehouse belonging to the IRGC was targeted. Videos circulating online show a large fire breaking out at the site after the strike.
Another security and military facility targeted in Tehran on Tuesday was the headquarters of Iran’s police intelligence organization. Images and videos shared online show the building completely destroyed.
On Kish Island, videos circulating online show that a radar base belonging to the IRGC naval forces was completely destroyed. Areas around Kish Airport were also bombed again.
Some media outlets reported Tuesday night that a ground attack had taken place on the port of Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan province, but the city’s governor denied the claim, saying the city remains under government control.
In a statement, the IRGC’s public relations office said the US and Israel have been attacking schools, hospitals, sports fields, restaurants, and event halls, adding that more than 700 people have been killed so far, including 170 students and teachers.
The statement comes as human rights ...which are often intentionally defined so widely as to be meaningless... organizations in eastern Kurdistan reported that Iranian security and military commanders have evacuated their bases and taken shelter in hospitals, schools, and event halls.

US forces have struck nearly 2,000 targets in under 100 hours during Operation Epic Fury against Iran, Admiral Brad Cooper, commander of US Central Command (CENTCOM), said early Wednesday, highlighting the intensity of the military campaign against Tehran.

Deadly strikes continued to rain down on Iran as day broke on Wednesday, hours after the Islamic Republic struck a CIA base in Saudi Arabia.
The US and Israel's joint operation against Iran has now stretched into a fifth straight day, with the Israeli military announcing early Wednesday morning that it has launched a 'broad wave of strikes' in Iran.
Iranian state media has also reported missile strikes in cities throughout the country, as it continued to retaliate with strikes reported in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Jordan.
Iran had also struck a CIA station at the US Embassy in Saudi Arabia, which sustained 'structural damage' while personnel were advised to 'shelter in place,' according to the Washington Post.
A total of about 50,000 US troops in the Middle East have been assigned to the war against Iran - with more forces headed to the region, an official told The New York Times.
Six US soldiers have already been killed in the military operation, dubbed Operation Epic Fury, with authorities announcing on Tuesday they included decorated servicemembers and even a mother-of-two.
Capt. Cody A. Khork, 35, of Winter Haven, Florida; Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens, 42, of Bellevue, Nebraska; Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor, 39, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota; and Spc. Declan J. Coady, 20, of West Des Moines, lowa were killed when a drone hit a command center in Port Shuaiba, Kuwait on Sunday.
Amor had been just days from returning home to her husband and two children when she was killed.

Been dabbling in military history & technology for decades and I find the scope of the attack to be impressive. It might be the first time the US has allowed the military, at this level, to take the gloves all the way off since WWII.

An anti Regime militia with hand weapons would normally be easily defeated by IRGC units with mechanized and partially armored equipment.
However, that changes if the USA of IDF were providing air support. In that case the IRGC units would be easy targets.
Do we have any active A-10s or the Super A-10s that would be deployable in Iran?

Given the potential for the IRGC et al to have a lot of MANPADs, A-10 inclusion might have a significant risk factor. The Ukraine experience suggests that drone attacks against armor and mech infantry are a very significant force multiplier as well. Pretty sure the Kurds have that understanding as well as the hardware. Absent Iranian theater ADA, BUFF and fighter aircraft and PGMs could also be a factor.
