Social justice activist shot and killed by homeless woman in Los Angeles
[BLAZE] The founder of an organization pushing social justice through the arts was shot and killed by a homeless woman in Los Angeles, police said.

The Los Angeles Police Department said officers were called to a residence on Alandele Avenue on Monday evening at about 6 p.m.

When they arrived, they found 33-year-old Michael Latt wounded by a gunshot. He was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead hours later.

Police said that a 36-year-old homeless woman named Jameelah Elena Michl remained at the scene and was arrested for the alleged murder of Latt. Investigators said her car is being processed because they believe that's where she was living when Latt was killed.

Latt is the CEO and founder of "Lead with Love," an activist organization intended to promote "women and artists of color." His website said he had worked with Netflix, the Sundance Film Festival, and celebrities like the rapper Common. He supported the Black Lives Matter movement on posts to his Instagram account.

Michl is being held on $3 million bail after being charged with murder. KTLA said a review of law enforcement records showed Michl had no previous criminal history.

Federal Judge Orders FBI To Finally Release Seth Rich's Laptop
See also here.
[ZERO & Kim.com] The murder of Seth Rich has long been one of the stones left unturned since the fall out following the 2016 presidential election. Rich, a 27-year old staffer for the Democratic National Committee was murdered on July 10th, 2016 while walking back to his home in Washington DC. Although his murder would occur months before the election of Donald Trump, Rich's name would become inextricably tied to the build up that culminated in that populist victory.

Rich has been theorized to have been a whistleblower who outed the democratic establishment following primaries in which it became evident were rigged by the DNC in favor of Hillary Clinton, upending the ascent of Bernie Sanders as a candidate for the party's presidential nomination. Troves of emails were published by Wikileaks giving insight into the corrupt inner machination of the Democratic National Committee. While Rich was never officially revealed as the source of the leaked emails, it has been heavily suggested. Julian Assange was one key figure who made that suggestion when he highlighted Rich's murder during a 2016 interview in which he was asked about the risks that come with operating WikiLeaks. Megavideo founder and entrepeneur Kim Dotcom went as far to confirm he worked with Rich to connect him with Assange.

Pilot survives kit plane tree landing
LIMINGTON, Maine (AP) — A 62-year-old pilot suffered minor injuries when his plane crashed less than a mile from an airport following an engine failure, state police said.

The yellow single-engine plane came to a rest nose-down in a thicket of woods Thursday afternoon, and Bradley Marson was walking around the scene when a state trooper located the crash site. Medical personnel evaluated the pilot and he was eventually transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

The pilot said he’d just taken off from Limington-Harmon Airport in Limington when his engine cut out. The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating.

The plane was a kit craft known as a Skyraider II by Flying K Enterprise, according to the FAA. It’s known in the aviation community as an affordable ultralight plane.

UK witnesses coldest November since 2010
[GEO.TV] The United Kingdom experienced its most freezing night since 2010, as temperatures plummeted across different regions.

From a frigid -8C (18F) atop Aonach Mor in the Scottish Highlands to -5.5C (22F) in Prestwick and -6.1C (21F) in Keswick, the cold settled deep.

Snow blanketed swathes of Scotland and eastern England, reaching as far as Norfolk, promising more wintry conditions ahead. Yet, freezing fog compounds the perilous journey, especially in the Midlands, north-west England, and Northern Ireland, posing risks for travelers.

Anticipated snowfall in Scotland's north and east, as well as eastern England, coupled with possible overnight snow on southwest England's moors, adds to the wintry outlook. Meanwhile,
...back at the barn, a little lightbulb figuratively appeared over Bossy's head...
Northern Ireland witnesses icy roads due to rain, snow, and freezing fog, with north Wales experiencing bouts of sleet.

Seth Rich's Laptop to Be Turned Over by FBI, Judge Rules
See also here.
[Newsweek -Google cache] A judge has ordered the FBI to turn over the laptop of murdered Democrat staffer Seth Rich.

Texas Judge Amos L. Mazzant ordered "a timeline for the disclosure of information on Seth Rich's personal laptop, Seth Rich's work laptop, the DVD and tape drive within 14 days following issuance of this Memorandum of Opinion and Order" on Wednesday morning.

Rich, who worked for the Democratic National Committee (DNC), was killed on July 10, 2016, while making his way home from a night out in Washington, D.C. The 27-year-old was speaking to his girlfriend on the phone when shots were heard.

His death has, in the years since, been used by right-wing activists to fuel far-reaching theories about Democrats. While a killer has not been found, police have said evidence indicates he was the victim of a botched robbery.
Except he wasn't robbed
The ruling is the latest in a long-running freedom of information battle between the FBI and Ty Clevenger, an attorney representing the plaintiff, Texas-based Brian Huddleston.

Huddleston first submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the FBI on September 1, 2017, requesting information relating to his investigation into Rich's potential involvement in DNC email leaks in June 2016,RadarOnline reported last year.

Although the FBI responded to Huddleston's request two weeks later saying they were "unable to locate any responsive main files," it was later unveiled that the FBI had over 20,000 pages of potentially relevant material, according to RadarOnline.

Of these, 1,596 pages were directly related to Rich. Another 1,496 of the pages were withheld due to a series of FOIA exemptions.

In September 2022, the court entered a Prior Order requiring the FBI and the Department of Justice to produce the information it possessed related to Seth Rich's laptop and responsive to the plaintiff's FOIA requests.

The FBI filed a Motion for Clarification in September 2022, which has now been denied. The bureau is also required to "produce a Vaughn index addressing the
information it possesses on the compact disk containing images of Seth Rich's personal laptop that is responsive to plaintiff's FOIA requests."

Newsweek reached out to the FBI via email for comment.

Rich's death sparked a wave of now-debunked conspiracy theories claiming he was responsible for publicly leaking thousands of DNC emails relating to the involvement of Russian hackers in the election of Donald Trump. Far-right figures alleged he was killed as part of a cover-up.

After his death, Rich was proven to not be the source of any email leaks, with the Mueller Report—also known as the Report on the Investigation into Russian Interference in the 2016 Presidential Election—finding Russian hackers responsible.

Uganda to Borrow $150 Million from China After World Bank Halts Funding over ‘Anti-Homosexuality Act'
[Breitbart] Uganda’s Finance Ministry said on Monday that it plans to borrow $150 million from the Export-Import Bank of China (ExIm) to develop the country’s Internet infrastructure.

Uganda would normally fund such projects through the World Bank, its primary development lender, but the World Bank halted loans to Uganda after President Yoweri Museveni signed the Anti-Homosexuality Act in May.

The World Bank suspended funding for Uganda in August, pending “additional measures” that could soften the Anti-Homosexuality Act.

The Ugandan law created a new category of crimes called “aggravated homosexuality” that merit severe punishments, originally including the death penalty, although Museveni purportedly loosened the death sentences slightly before signing the bill into law. He did not loosen them very much, as there is a capital case for aggravated homosexuality currently before Ugandan courts.

Homosexual conduct was already nominally illegal in Uganda before the new law. “Aggravated homosexuality” broadly means same-sex relations where one of the parties does not give full consent.

Many Western governments were appalled at the Ugandan law, including the Biden administration, and threatened sanctions unless it was repealed. Museveni remained defiant. When the World Bank suspended funding, the authoritarian Marxist president accused it of using financial pressure to make his people abandon their values.

“I want to inform everybody, starting with Ugandans, that Uganda will develop with or without loans,” Museveni declared in August.

“With discipline, patriotism and combating corruption, we shall thrive because our agriculture is there, our industries are growing and our services sector is expanding,” he vowed.

“It is therefore unfortunate that the World Bank and other actors dare to want to coerce us into abandoning our faith, culture, principles and sovereignty, using money. They really underestimate all Africans,” he said.

In April, Museveni urged other African nations to join Uganda in resisting “the promotion of homosexuality,” which he described as “a big threat and danger to the procreation of the human race.”

“Africa should provide the lead to save the world from this degeneration and decadence, which is really very dangerous for humanity,” he said.

Monday’s announcement suggests Uganda is relying more heavily on China for its financial needs. In addition to the Internet funding, Uganda is negotiating with China’s ExIm and SINOSURE credit agency, plus Saudi Arabia and a smattering of African banks, to refinance a $5 billion oil export pipeline.

British-Nigerian hacker pleads guilty to $6m fraud in US court
[AFRICANEWS] A 33-year-old British-Nigerian man Idris Dayo Mustapha has admitted to orchestrating a sophisticated cyber fraud scheme spanning seven years.

Mustapha, a key member of a hacking ring, targeted email and brokerage accounts of US corporations from 2011 to 2018, resulting in substantial losses exceeding $6 million (£4.7 million).

US authorities had been pursuing Mustapha for several years.

His crimes carry a jail term of up to 20 years.

Mustapha pleaded guilty plea at a court in Brooklyn, New York, on Tuesday to four charges: computer intrusion, securities fraud, wire fraud, and access device fraud, the BBC reported.

Authorities say Mustapha and his ring hacked into the computer servers of financial institutions in the US to access confidential user data, such as users' personal identifying information.

They then used the stolen information and passwords to transfer funds and securities from the accounts of their victims to accounts under their control.

They also used the hacked accounts to conduct stock trades without the knowledge of the account holder.

French Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster pickup will be sold in US
[FOX59] Deliveries of the Ineos Grenadier in the U.S. started in November and soon the rugged SUV will be followed by a pickup truck variant dubbed the the Grenadier Quartermaster.

The Quartermaster was first shown in July, and an Ineos spokesperson in an interview with Automotive News (subscription required) published on Monday said U.S. preorders for the pickup will open in early 2024.

Pricing hasn’t been revealed, but the Quartermaster will likely be more expensive than the Grenadier, which starts at $73,100, including a $1,600 destination charge. That’s because of the so-called chicken tax that slaps a 25% tariff on foreign-made light trucks brought into the U.S.

Production of the Quartermaster takes place at Ineos’ plant in Hambach, France, alongside the Grenadier. Deliveries in Europe are scheduled to start in December. According to Automotive News, a chassis cab version is also planned, including for the U.S. It’s due to start production in 2024.

According to the article, the Ineos Grenadier Quartermaster is the pickup variant of the all-new 4x4 Grenadier off-roader, which is not based on any existing platform or chassis components from another manufacturer or model 2. The Quartermaster is expected to share the same powertrain as the U.S.-spec Grenadier wagon, which is a 282 hp, 332 lb-ft version of BMW’s B58 3.0-liter turbocharged straight six engine.

[Dawn] Armed alliance of three ethnic minority groups seizes dozens of military positions and a town important for trade with China.

An ethnic minority gang in Myanmar has seized control from the country’s ruling junta of a lucrative border crossing to China, local media and a security source said on Sunday.

Clashes have raged across Myanmar’s northern Shan state, close to the Chinese border, after an armed alliance of three ethnic minority groups launched an offensive against the military in October.

The groups have seized dozens of military positions and a town important for trade with China, choking commerce routes for the cash-strapped junta.

An offensive by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army (MNDAA) — one of the three allied groups — captured the Kyin San Kyawt border gate, a local media outlet affiliated with the group said.
