Nearly 800 pounds of fentanyl found in shipment of green beans at San Diego port
[NYPOST] About 800 pounds of fentanyl were found inside a tractor-trailer transporting green beans through the Otay Mesa port in San Diego, Caliphornia, an impregnable bastion of the Democratic Party,.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers stopped a 48-year-old driver at the port on Monday evening, and after conducting a "non-intrusive" search, they discovered more than 3.5 million fentanyl pills valued at $21.1 million hidden among the produce.

The search was prompted when officers noticed "irregularities" with the tractor-trailer, prompting them to call in a narcotic detector dog who alerted them to the pills inside.

The driver, who has yet to be identified, has been taken into the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement for allegations of attempted narcotic smuggling.

"CBP recognizes our officers’ exceptional performance and applaud their continued efforts to protect and serve our communities," said Rosa Hernandez, port director for the Otay Mesa Cargo Facility.

"This seizure provides insight and displays how our officers work together in collaboration to keep this dangerous drug off the streets."

Drug smuggling through the border continues to be an issue, with 471 fentanyl seizures reported between October and March.

CBP has also conducted more than 4,200 meth and 1,200 cocaine seizures during that period.

#1  Which leads to the question:

How long before we start reading of large numbers of fentanyl related food or packaging contamination deaths?

#2  You're frightening me, N.

I like green beans but would prefer to have them grown in the USA.

We used to grow all the avocados we need right here in San Diego County but then the water got too expensive. Thanks for that, Gavin. Now all the avocados are from Mexico.

It's OK though. Fallbrook growers found that vineyards don't use as much water.

Have to start looking at the packaging to see where my produce is grown. In California we have the Central Valley and Imperial Valley to grow all kinds of vegetables. Who needs green beans from Mexico?

Just curious. I just looked at a bag of green beans in my freezer. First it said Product of Belgium. But further down it said:

Country of origin:

BE DE FR NL PL

I guess that's a relief. Maybe.

Afghanistan
Daily Evacuation Brief April 20, 2023
[AfghanDigest] LAST 24 HOURS
  • UN BOMBSHELL IGNITES A FIRESTORM OVER RECOGNITION TALK – After Deputy Secretary General, Amina Mohammed announced that a meeting had been set in May to discuss the Afghanistan situation and that recognition of the Taliban would be on the agenda, near universal condemnation erupted from the Afghan diaspora and other international organizations. The UN had to clarify her comments and a spokesman later followed up with the press to explain the May meeting would attempt to “...put us back on the pathway to recognition…”. He went on to explain it would be a qualified pathway that would have conditions that would need to be met. While the knee-jerk reaction is understandable, it is important to consider that recognition is the strongest leverage the UN and the international community possess and a better thought-out approach is needed. We assess it would be highly unlikely that women’s rights, an inclusive government, and other stipulations that have continually been announced by neighbors and the international community would not be chief among those conditions.

  • US OVERSIGH HEARINGS CAUSE AN UPROAR – Wedged in between all the political gamesmanship in the US House oversight committee hearings on Wednesday was a warning from the SIGAR Chief that economic aid being supplied to Afghanistan lacks oversight and may be going to the Taliban. The news is not new to Afghans and those who have been following the crisis, but it will likely be a point of contention going forward and there are already some calls to cancel the economic aid in total. The hearings do not seem as if they will prove to be productive and have degenerated into partisanship with Democrats trying to deflect blame for the debacle and Republicans attempting to crucify Biden for the botched withdrawal. The US State Department will likely come up as the biggest loser out of the hearings as it has repeatedly failed to adequately account for budgetary items and can’t seem to comply with even simple requests for information.

  • UNEXPLODED MINE CLAIMS 3 LIVES IN LOGAR PROVINCE – A blast was reported in the Mohammad Agha District and 3 people were killed by a landmine that is thought to have been a remnant of the Soviet invasion. 2 of the victims were men and 1 was a woman.

  • PANJSHIR PROFESSOR ARRESTED, ACCUSED OF COLLABORATION WITH NRF – The Chair of the Sharia Law department at the State University of Panjshir has reputedly been arrested on charges of providing support to the National Resistance Front. It is believed he was detained on Wednesday and is being held in an undisclosed location.

NEXT 24 HOURS
  • TALIBAN BANNING WOMEN'S GATHERINGS DURING EID – The Taliban have issued bans on traditional gatherings for women during the holiday. The bans are said to have come from the supreme leader and imams have been instructed to relay the directives during prayers. We have only confirmed the bans will be in effect in Takhar and Baghlan at this time. However, we expect other Provinces to have received similar instructions and that Taliban security forces have been ordered to police potential infractions. The instructions also ban the playing of several games and forbid people to go to places of mourning.

  • POSSIBLE TERROR ATTACKS AND/OR COMBAT OPERATIONS – While the Ramadan period has passed without any major security incidents, it is possible that ISIS-K or other groups could have an operation planned to disrupt Eid and capture international attention. It is also possible that Taliban and Resistance forces could begin hostilities in earnest after Ramadan. With the recent announcement by the UN about possible recognition of the Taliban, we feel that Resistance forces will be motivated to launch operations in an attempt to display instability to the international community before the May meetings. An unconfirmed report was received which stated that ISIS-K was planning another attack on the Pakistani envoy or embassy. It is believed the envoy is staying at the Serena Hotel near the Airport since his return. This information has not been confirmed yet.

Somalia army liberates more villages from Al-Shabaab
[Garowe] The Somali National Army [SNA] has continued to liberate more villages in troubled Somalia, with the government now set to unveil the second phase of operations against the murderous Moslems whose huge presence in central and southern Somalia has been a thorn in the flesh according to security analysts.

At Lower Shabelle, the military continued with operations uninterrupted, targeting strategic villages which are fundamental for the fight against al-Shabaab
...... the personification of Somali state failure...
. The villages Have previously been under the lethal administration of al-Shabaab which uses threats and intimidation to govern people.

Some of the villages which were captured include Jowhar Awdhegle, Ay-Butey, Gumeysidid, Kali Cafimad, and Buulo-Nagey, under the districts of Awdheegle, Janalle, and Number 50.
One of these things is not like the other ones...
The Military has been wrestling against the murderous Moslems for the last 16 years, making tremendous progress in the process.

The military confirmed that it had destroyed checkpoints and fake courts where the group was extorting money from people and public vehicles. The government is keen to block al-Shabaab from raising revenue from locals which helps them to run the criminal gang by purchasing weapons and paying fighters wages.

The local militia along with the US Africa Command and the African Union
...a union consisting of 53 African states, most run by dictators of one flavor or another. The only all-African state not in the AU is Morocco. Established in 2002, the AU is the successor to the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), which was even less successful...
Transition Mission in Somalia [ATMIS] have been instrumental in helping the national army to tackle al-Shabaab bad boys. For some time, since July 2022, al-Shabaab has lost significant territories in Galgaduud, Hiiraan, and Bay regions.

President Hassan Sheikh has officially announced the beginning of the second phase of operations in the country to eliminate the group. Hussein Sheikh Ali, the national security advisor, says the government will still focus on Galmadug and HirShabelle states in the second phase of operations.

The operations have been significant in the sense that the government has taken control of strategic towns and even started the restoration of normality by installing civilian administrations. The al-Shabaab extortionists have been fighting to topple the fragile UN-backed federal government of Somalia for the last 16 years.

Clashes resume as conflict between military forces in Sudan continue, Pak embassy hit in crossfire, 00s of Sudan troops flee to Chad while 2nd attempt at ceasefire
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Clashes renewed in the vicinity of the General Command in the Sudanese capital Khartoum amid the sounds of powerful explosions in the place, despite the declared truce.

Media sources reported that festivities taking place in central and southern Khartoum between Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) .

The General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces announced that the second phase is to secure the areas surrounding the General Command and the airport, stressing that "skirmishes" are taking place there.

Moreover, media sources reported the outbreak of violent mostly peaceful festivities with medium and heavy weapons, with the beginning of the time set for the "truce" between the two sides.

As the truce went into effect, festivities broke out in the Sahafa neighborhood.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) said their forces had been attacked sporadically in some areas of the capital Khartoum, particularly in the General Command and East Nile areas.

Pakistan embassy in Sudan comes under attack amid clashes

[GEO.TV] The Embassy of Pakistain in Sudan's capital Khartoum came under attack Wednesday as the fighting between the army and paramilitaries continues with no signs of ending after five days.

In a statement, the embassy said: "Today, the Embassy of Pakistain was hit by three bullets amid the festivities between Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces, which cause[d] loss to the Chancery building."

The statement mentioned that the incident was a blatant violation of the Vienna Convention as the host government is responsible for providing security to diplomatic missions.

"We urge the two parties to exercise constraint and request the government of Sudan to immediately deploy security personnel for the protection and security of Embassy of Pakistain," the statement said.

The embassy once again advised all Paks to stay at home and avoid unnecessary outgoings due to the deteriorating security situation. There are around a thousand Paks in Khartoum.

Some 320 Sudan troops flee fighting to Chad: N'Djamena

[AlAhram] Around 320 Sudanese soldiers have fled the fighting raging in their country to neighbouring Chad, the country's defence minister said Wednesday.

"They arrived in our territory, were disarmed and detained" on Sunday, General Daoud Yaya Brahim told a presser, saying the troops feared being killed by the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) battling those of Sudan's Armed Forces (SAF) lead by general Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.

"The situation in Sudan is worrying and deplorable, we have taken all the necessary measures in the face of this crisis," the minister said.

He added, however, that "this war does not concern us, it's between the Sudanese, and we must remain vigilant against all eventualities."

He declined to give further details, on the fifth day of combat in Khartoum and elsewhere in Sudan, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 270 civilians, foreign embassies said Wednesday.

Chad had closed Saturday its border crossings with Sudan, stretching for more than 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) across open desert, which are often crossed by rebel groups from both countries.

Thousands of people have fled the shooting and bombings in Khartoum since fighting erupted between two generals, al-Burhan and his deputy, Mohammed Hamdan Daglo, who commands the RSF.

It followed a bitter dispute between the two generals over the planned integration of the RSF into the regular army -- a key condition for a final deal aimed at restoring Sudan's democratic transition.

Sudanese army, its rivals announce another cease-fire

[AlAhram] After the failure of Tuesday evening's truce attempt, hundreds gave up on trying to hold out for calm and fled their homes throughout the day Wednesday, even as explosions and gunfire shook Khartoum and the adjacent city of Omdurman. Residents of multiple neighborhoods told The Associated Press they could see men, women and children leaving with luggage, some on foot, others crowding into vehicles.

On Wednesday evening, the army and its rivals, the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, separately announced that a new 24-hour truce had begun. Prospects for the cease-fire were uncertain, however, as residents said they continued to hear sporadic shooting and explosions.

Arabia
BREAKING:Sudan embassy says "too late" for evac of US citizens from Khartoum; DoD prepping options
[Hot Air] An unknown number of American citizens remain trapped in Sudan, and it may already be too late to get them out. The civil war in Sudan between two wanna-be warlords reached the capital of Khartoum almost a week ago, and yet no one apparently had thought to extract US diplomatic personnel and private citizens from the country.

The embassy sent out an alert that it’s already too late for any normal exit:

The airport, located in central Khartoum, is closed but would be inoperable even if it reopened due to damage from bombardment and fighting. The roughly 70 U.S. staff at the embassy have no options to leave Sudan on their own without immense risk to their safety. For the most part, U.S. diplomats in Sudan are unaccompanied, meaning they do not have their family with them at what’s considered a challenging post, a State Department official said.

The American mission in the capital warned Thursday that “due to the uncertain security situation in Khartoum and closure of the airport, it is not currently safe to undertake a U.S. government-coordinated evacuation of private U.S. citizens.”

Also on Wednesday, Molly Phee, the top State Department official for African affairs, told congressional staffers that it was too late to order a departure of the mission because of the deteriorating security situation that has already led to around 300 deaths and about 3,000 more wounded, two congressional aides said.

According to the same report, travel by road would be even more dangerous. That leaves literally no options except a military rescue from Khartoum, in the middle of an urban-warfare setting between factions that have no real reason to cooperate with or even allow a US military operation.

The Pentagon has started working on that option, staging assets in Djibouti for an evac order. As the New York Times reports, though, that’s not a high-percentage option either, not for dozens of diplomatic personnel. And that’s just a drop in the bucket when it comes to the overall American risk:

The Pentagon is moving troops to the African nation of Djibouti to prepare for an evacuation of U.S. Embassy staff from Sudan, where fierce fighting between two warring generals has led to the swift deterioration of conditions in the capital, Khartoum, according to two officials.

But senior U.S. officials acknowledged that it would not be easy to get embassy staff out, let alone the estimated 19,000 American citizens who are believed to be in the country. …

Japan was the first country to announce a planned evacuation of its citizens. But announcing and actually carrying out the evacuations are two different things; the latter has proved to be elusive. Germany reportedly sent three planes, only to call off the rescue when they were en route.

It’s clearly far too late to evacuate the 19,000 American citizens. The better question is why it took this long to get the evacuation process started. It has been three weeks since signs that a power struggle between General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan and RSF chief Mohamed Hamdan Daglo had become “unstoppable,” and that war would almost certainly erupt in Khartoum:

Now, three weeks after the situation became observably dangerous and five days after Blinken and State first addressed the danger, State and the Pentagon now have evacuation plans coming together. It’s far too late for the 19,000 private citizens in Sudan, and it’s even now too late for any good-odds evac of dozens or hundreds of State Department personnel. It looks like Blinken and the Biden administration got caught with its pants down again, less than two years after the execrable failure to secure Kabul for a rational withdrawal.

The airport is reportedly out of commission and the Persian Gulf looks on goggle maps to be about 399 nm from Khartoum. Stampede in Yemen's capital kills at least 78, officials say
[Ay-Peee on MSN] A crowd apparently spooked by gunfire and an electrical explosion stampeded at an event to distribute financial aid during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan in Yemen’s capital late Wednesday, killing at least 78 people and injuring at least 73 others, according to witnesses and Houthi rebel officials

The tragedy was the deadliest in years that was not related to Yemen’s long conflict, and came ahead of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan later this week.
Armed Houthis fired into the air in an attempt at crowd control, apparently striking an electrical wire and causing it to explode, according to two witnesses, Abdel-Rahman Ahmed and Yahia Mohsen. That sparked a panic, and people, including many women and children, began stampeding, they said.

Armed groups set up checkpoints in Lahj province
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] Traffic stopped on the restive Lahj
... a Yemeni governate located in the southwestern corner of the Arabian Peninsula. It is the stomping grounds on the southern secessionist al-Harak movement
-Aden road and hundreds of trucks and vehicles lined up in a long line in Tur al-Baha district, after gangs stopped the line.

Local sources said that button men cut off the main line linking Taiz and Lahj governorates and stopped traffic, demanding the payment of their salaries.

Citizens and owners of trucks and buses called on the local authority in Lahj province to put a solution to these acts, which have become frequent as a result of the failure of the local authority and the security and military agencies to protect the road, as their role does not exceed imposing taxes and royalties and leaving the button men to tamper with it.

Senior Al-Qaeda commander found killed in area under STC control
[HODHODYEMENNEWS.NET] A big shot of al-Qaeda was killed on Tuesday in mysterious circumstances in Abyan

In March 2011, al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula declared the governate an Islamic Emirate after seizing control of the region. The New York Times fastidiously reported that those in control, while Islamic hard boyz, are not in fact al-Qaeda, but something else that looks, tastes, smells, and acts the same. Child abuse suspects being pursued in Pakistan: UK police
The second generationi of fun jihad of rape in the West. At least noe there is some small amount of fighting back, though it remains to be seen whether Moslem Pakistan will actually turn over members of the Master Religion to a government of the unbelievers.
[Dawn] The Greater Manchester Police (GMP) chief on Wednesday said police were "actively pursuing" child sexual exploitation suspects in Pakistain so that they can be extradited to the United Kingdom to face criminal charges.

Chief Constable Stephen Watson on a radio show confirmed that GMP were "seeking to bring suspects in from Pakistain" but did not share details on suspects or cases due to judicial processes.

Without sharing names or timelines, Mr Watson said the pursuit was for "more than one" suspect and hinted that an announcement on the issue would be made shortly.

He said, "The reality is, we will hunt down people who commit these offences. We will hunt people down." The crime that took place in the past "doesn’t stay in the past", he added.

His comments come in the aftermath of controversial comments made by Home Secretary Suella Braverman, who came under fire when she said child sexual offenders are predominantly British-Pak men whose cultural values are at odds with British values.

Ms Braverman made the statement while referring to the sex grooming scandal that occurred in Rotherham, which was rocked by a child sexual exploitation scandal in which five British-Pak men were convicted of grooming, raping and exploiting maiden of tender yearss.

Palestinian teen arrested for East Jerusalem shooting that injured 2 Israelis
[IsraelTimes] Teen from Nablus reportedly went to school after firing at vehicle from point-blank range on Tuesday; separately, IDF says 3 held in Jenin involved in major ’terrorist activity’

A Paleostinian 15-year-old was arrested overnight on suspicion of carrying out a terror shooting in which two Israeli men were maimed in East Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, the military said Wednesday.

The teenage suspect shot the two men at point-blank range on Tuesday morning, and after fleeing the scene, went to school, according to Channel 12 news.

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that the suspect, a resident of the Askar refugee camp near the West Bank city of Nablus, implicated himself in the shooting during his first interrogation.

The military said the teen was detained during a raid in Nablus, less than 24 hours after the shooting, and that he had been transferred to the Shin Bet for questioning. There were no reports of injuries during the operation.

Surveillance camera footage of the attack showed the attacker approaching the victims’ car and opening fire from close range, before fleeing.

The weapon apparently used in the attack, a makeshift "Carlo" submachine gun, was found by officers nearby, police said.

The two victims in the attack were treated at the scene and then taken to hospitals in the capital, where they were said to be in moderate and stable condition.

The son of one of the victims, Moshe Yosef Hass, said his 60-year-old father and the second victim initially thought somebody had thrown rocks at the vehicle.

"He did not understand what happened. He thought they threw two stones at the car, but then they started to feel terrible pain and realized that they were shot," Menashe Hass told the Ynet news site. "My father is not one of those people who gets involved in security tensions. For years he has prayed every day at the tomb of Simeon the Just."

The victims were heading to morning prayers at the tomb, in Sheikh Jarrah.

Israel Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai welcomed the arrest, and said that in addition, security forces in Jerusalem had thwarted eight terror attacks in the city in recent weeks.

"Let every terrorist know that security forces will reach them wherever they escape to and wherever they hide," he said in a statement.

"The war on terrorism is a daily and cross-district one, and we as the police do, and will do, everything to thwart any terrorist organization and any intention to harm civilians and security forces," Shabtai said.

Separately on Wednesday morning, the IDF said the three suspects arrested during a raid a day earlier in the Jenin refugee camp were suspected of involvement in "significant terrorist activity," including shooting and explosives attacks.

The military said brothers Ahmed and Muhammad Jaradat were arrested along with a third suspect.

The IDF said that during the operation, gunnies shot and threw explosives at the forces, who responded with gunfire.

According to the Paleostinian Authority Health Ministry, eight people were maimed by gunfire amid the festivities. The official Wafa news agency said that included a 68-year-old woman who was hit in the hand and a paramedic who was hit by shrapnel.

The IDF said that they were "aware" of the reports of injuries.

Palestinian who injured 12 soldiers in Jerusalem ramming gets 30 years
[IsraelTimes] Sanad al-Turman tossed in the clink
Drop the rosco, Muggsy, or you're one with the ages!
for 2020 terror attack on troops touring the capital ahead of Western Wall ceremony

A Paleostinian man was sentenced to 30 years’ imprisonment on Wednesday for the attempted murder of 12 soldiers in a Jerusalem car-ramming terror attack in 2020.

Prosecutors indicted Sanad al-Turman on terror charges of attempted murder for the attack.

The Jerusalem District Court also ruled that Turman will pay financial compensation to each of the injured soldiers — NIS 20,000 (approximately $5,500) to 11 soldiers and NIS 80,000 ($22,000) to the platoon sergeant, a total of NIS 300,000 (approximately $82,000).

In the predawn hours of February 6, Turman drove his car into a group of soldiers standing on Jerusalem’s David Remez Street outside the First Station, a popular entertainment hub in the capital.

The soldiers were members of the Golani Brigade who were at the First Station during a "heritage tour" ahead of an early morning swearing-in ceremony at the Western Wall.

According to the indictment, Turman, a resident of the East Jerusalem neighborhood of A-Tur, noticed soldiers marching during their trip, "slowing down his speed and traveling alongside the soldiers and contemplating carrying out a ramming attack," before realizing he would not be successful, so he drove off.

However,
there's more than one way to stuff a chicken...
six minutes later, he returned to the scene and decided to go ahead with the attack. "He pressed the gas pedal, accelerated and pointed his vehicle at the soldiers," the indictment charged.

Turman’s family has consistently maintained that what happened was not a terror attack but rather a traffic incident caused when Turman accidentally drove his vehicle onto the sidewalk.

After the attack, Turman quickly expeditiously departed at a goodly pace, abandoning his car in the West Bank town of Beit Jala, south of Jerusalem.

He was later arrested at the Gush Etzion Junction in the southern West Bank.

Security officials strongly denied
No, no! Certainly not!
it was an accident and rejected the claim that Turman, who had no history of security offenses, was on his way to turn himself in at the time of his arrest, saying that he broke through a roadblock while fleeing and that soldiers at the scene of the attack had not drawn their weapons, so he would not have felt in danger.

According to security officials, Turman had made several Facebook posts possibly signaling his intentions, writing in one update: "I’ve found my answers," and in another: "Whoever seeks peace with the enemy is living under an illusion. Never surrender."

Israel targets government forces in Syria's Quneitra
[NPASYRIA] Israeli forces targeted on Tuesday a military post of the Syrian government forces in the southern countryside of Quneitra, southern Syria.

A local source told North Press that "Israeli forces targeted with several rockets the post of the Seventh Corps of the government forces."

The source noted that the attack came after a visit of "Iranian military figures and others from Hezbollah. The post was used to observe the border on al-Jolan heights."

This is not the first time attacks occurred on the post, which is less than 2km far from the al-Jolan heights, according to sources.

IDF said to hit sites belonging to Hezbollah in southern Syria Weds, then drop flyers
[IsraelTimes] Syrian troops are warned to stop cooperating with Iran-backed group after reported artillery strikes; small military drone crashes in Syria

The Israel Defense Forces dropped threatening pamphlets in southern Syria on Wednesday, warning Syrian soldiers to stop cooperating with Hezbollah, an opposition journalist reported, hours after Israel reportedly conducted artillery strikes on sites belonging to the Iran-backed group.

The flyers, which were written in Arabic and addressed to Syrian Army soldiers, matched the style of similar leaflets that have been dropped in Syria in the past. The IDF refused to comment on the matter.

In the pamphlet, the Israeli military appeared to take responsibility for the overnight strikes. The IDF usually does not publicly acknowledge carrying out strikes in Syria, under its general policy of ambiguity regarding its efforts against Hezbollah in the country.

"Time after time, the Syrian army continues to pay the price as a result of Hezbollah’s incursion into its military positions. The continuation of intelligence cooperation with Hezbollah in the region and at the site of Tel Kwdana will continue to bring you suffering. You are responsible for your actions, and Hezbollah is responsible for your suffering," the flyer read.

In another incident on Tuesday night, the IDF said a small military drone crashed in Syrian territory during "routine activity." The drone, a Skylark model, was on a reconnaissance mission when it fell out of the sky due to a technical fault, according to the military. There was no fear of information leaking from the device, the IDF added.

It was unclear if the drone crash was related to the strikes late Tuesday night, which targeted Hezbollah sites in and around the village of Kwdana, according to an opposition-affiliated journalist in Syria. There was no comment by Syria’s official SANA news agency or other regime-affiliated outlets.

The IDF has repeatedly accused Syrian dictator Bashir al-Assad’s military of actively assisting Hezbollah and warned it against this, both through flyers dropped along the border and through overt, public appeals, in some cases naming the Syrian and Hezbollah officials involved, including officers from Syria’s 90th Brigade and 1st Division.

Israel appears to have stepped up its activities in Syria recently, and earlier this month, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant warned Iran
...a theocratic Shiite state divided among the Medes, the Persians, and the (Arab) Elamites. Formerly a fairly civilized nation ruled by a Shah, it became a victim of Islamic revolution in 1979. The nation is today noted for spontaneously taking over other countries' embassies, maintaining whorehouses run by clergymen, involvement in international drug trafficking, and financing sock puppet militias to extend the regime's influence. and the Lebanese Hezbollah that Israel would not tolerate any efforts to harm the country or its citizens after a man was seriously maimed in a Megiddo kaboom blamed on the Iran-backed organization.

Israel is alleged to have carried out a number of strikes in Syria this month, including one that killed two members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps.

After that strike, a suspected Iranian drone launched from Syria was brought down over Israeli airspace.

Several days later, six rockets were launched from southern Syria at the Golan Heights in two separate barrages hours apart, with three landing in Israeli territory, the military said. The IDF responded with artillery strikes in response to the rocket attack.
