(a) Russians will never give up on this particular fight.

They had a Battle of Stalingrad once already. Seems like something they might want to prevent.

I've been wondering about that lately.

Initially, the number of troops in the Special Military Operation was limited by law - conscripts cannot be used outside the country. (In addition to being ex-KGB, Putin is also a lawyer, in case you needed another reason to hate him). But even after territories were annexed, the Russians never seemed to go all in, at least in my conception of modern, industrial warfare. No carpet bombed cities, no vast waves of tanks, planes and infantry. No complete mobilization. Not even a Thunder Run to Kiev. They seem to be playing the long game with just enough fight to get where they are headed.
