Why people really stopped having kids: New study uncovers the surprising reasons families are shrinking

1 If you want less of something, tax it to death.

Notice that people with lots of kids usually do not share the same tax burden as those with two kids do.

3 People who want lots of children accept the taxes as a known cost, budget for it, and move on.

Also, ultra-orthodox communities are very tight-knit and have elaborate, self-funded charitable organizations that ensure all their members get the help they need.

They only come in male and female. Your car insurance costs won't double. They don't outgrow their shoes. Few play soccer. College tuition is not an issue. Their toys are considerably less expensive. Vet bills are optional. Meal prep is a snap. The dog pound will generally accept them. ~~Sexual promiscuity can be surgically ended.~~

6 I think the law requiring child seats in cars also has something to do with this. Every State has its own laws and some of them (e.g. Calif requires backward facing child car seats) are enough to discourage having kids.
