Not so fast...

The Germand knew about this plan early on. On January 25, 1940, Friedrich-Werner Graf von der Schulenburg, the German ambassador in Moscow, warned Molotov of a British-French operation in the Caucasus. On June 16, 1940, the 9th German Panzer Division captured a large number of classified documents belonging to the French General Staff in La Charité-sur-Loire. Among them were documents relating to Operation Pike. After a team of experts confirmed their authenticity, the plan was presented to the public by the German press as a sensational discovery beginning on July 3, 1940. Hitler mentioned the plan in his Reichstag speech on July 19, 1940. The documents were published in "White Paper No.6."
