2 Abolishing the police would certainly cut down on the money spent on police, courts & jails as people take matters into their own hands when dealing with criminals. Should also cut down on recidivism and career criminals.

Yes, we didn't have prisons in the modern sense. During the War of Independence captured 'rebels' were confined on 'prison' ships to waste away and die.

Most felony offenses were simply handled by execution, thus removing the issue of confinement.
