2 US intelligence sources claim

For some reason, I find myself sceptical of any public pronouncement from 'US intelligence sources'. It is not a question of true or false. The question is "Why are they telling us this?"

tl;dr: If you have 100 launchers and only 1 missile, you really only have one launcher.

3 "Intact" is an interesting choice of words. A missile buried under 100 tons of rock is "intact."

6 @4 At some point Iraq did have WMD's, they used chemical weapons against the Kurds and Iranians. The are reports that they used them during the Shia uprising after Desert Storm. I don't think it was ever positively determined where they went. The two stories I heard was that they were shipped to Syria before we invaded Iraq in 2002. The other story was that they are still in buried in Iraq and the records of where they were lost or destroyed.

Not just American intelligence, chris. And despite all the fussing afterward, the Iraqi government did have a vastly excessive supply of insecticides that work pretty much the same way on dogs and people as they do on insects, an awful lot of yellowcake uranium ready to be refined into the radioactive form, all sorts of dual use equipment with which to do so, the plans for the Osiraq nuclear reactor that Israel had bombed into rubble in 1981, and whatever Iraq had trucked to Bashir al Assad in Syria via the Bekaa Valley in addition to the nation’s gold on top of whatever Iraq had burnt for weeks in the ditches around Baghdad to get rid of it before the second Iraq War. After all, Saddam Hussein had used chemical weapons against the Kurds as well as whatever he’d used against the Shiites in the south, or wherever their swamps were.

The endless claims afterward that there was nothing there, I am convinced, was a joint project of the mainstream media and the Deep State to keep President George W. Bush from moving on to the next stage of the War on Terror — putting a stop to Iran’s nuclear bomb program and support for the jihadi movement in the Middle East and the West.

But in addition to news reports at the time, a number of Rantburgers either witnessed themselves or shared reports from colleagues and relations of vast storage areas full of leaking barrels of insecticides and so forth. And while I know myself to be trusting and naive, the rest of you are not — and many of you have resources to check such claims that are unavailable to professional journalists. So if you all accepted the claims at the time, I must, too.
