No doubt. Were you ever able to give them a reason to want to learn it? I persuaded trailing daughter #2 that honours English was worth doing well — despite thinking most of the things they read were stupid — because it would make her business memos communicate more effectively and would help her glean more from the communications of others, giving her a competitive advantage. But even though she tested 99+ percentile for math, and even though she took the honours math classes with kids two grades ahead, the only real interest she took in mathematics was how she could use numbers later to make more profits for whichever company hired her.
