3 If I remember correctly the Russians were hitting targets in Syria with missiles from their Caspian Sea feet. So why take any chances.

Plus, when you tell you children to pick up their toys, you tell them to pick up ALL of their toys, and not just the ones in the hallway. The Israelis are just being responsible children.

4 There are two canals that Iran, in theory, could use to move any ships in the Caspian Sea. It would require Russian approval. The Volga-Don Canal could move the ships through to the Black Sea and the Volga-Baltic Waterway. I doubt the Iranians would get permission from all of the countries through which the Volga-Baltic Waterway would pass. It's unlikely any Iranian ships will leave the Caspian Sea.
