1 If the regime is removed, Iraq has the opportunity for autonomy. It’s possible that they may chose Turkish hegemony as a replacement.

3 Grom's been making this point for years and he has me halfway persuaded. But the problem I have with passing over Iraq to hit Iran in 2003 is that you have to imagine an alternate timeline in which Saddam and his evil sons maintain control of Iraq for a long time, possibly up to the present day. I don't have enough imagination to say how that timeline plays out.

5 Actually the theory that W was aiming to take out Iran after Iraq was, I think, the basis for a late 2005 or so conspiracy theory in Rolling Stone (which I can't find on line). I remember reading the issue and couldn't figure out what the conspiracy was.

I do not recall that there was any real consideration from Bush in bombing Iran. I recall this report was my only hope to take out an arch enemy of the unites states.

The November 2007 National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) on Iran, declassified in December 2007, concluded with high confidence that Iran halted its nuclear weapons program in fall 2003.

7 ^^^^I wasn't talking about attacking Iran. I was talking about the fact that, after US conquest of Iraq, Bush II received - a virtually identical advice from PM of Israel and Saudi king - "Find a nice (one with good memory) Sunni general, and make him the new head."

If you get the same advice from Arik Sharon and Fahd, you follow it and not faggots of USDS.
