5 Realistically, if enough parents showed up at the school board meetings to demand that students remain in school during school hours, the board members might respond appropriately. Problem is, school board elections don't get a lot of media attention so communists can get themselves elected and do all kinds of mischief in coordination with communist teachers' unions.

6 It is most unfortunate that teachers' unions wield a great deal of political clout due to the money they extort from teachers in the form of union dues. Best way to break the unions might be to let the teachers strike and hire non-union scabs to replace them. I don't see how the scabs could do any worse educating the kids than union goons.

7 I would step out even further and assert that high schools should be abolished. College material kids could go to college after what is now called middle school. The rest get vocational training from people who are skilled in various trades. Stop wasting time and money on high schools.

Yes, I understand all of those are subject to jiggering but that's the way we do it now and I don't see how it would change.

10 I understand that in Germany children are split into tracks in fourth grade: university prep, skilled trades, and whatever you call shop cashiers and hotel workers and such, who have an 18 month training after they finish their junior high-level academic work. The thing is that the way German schooling is organized, if there isn’t a parent actively involve in co-teaching while supervising the child’s homework, it is the rare child who can master the material on its own, and thus there wasn’t a great deal of movement between classes, though plumbers certainly might earn a great deal more than high school teachers. So it used to be, at least, that girls who aspired to middle class lives went to university to get a degree as a college prep teacher so that they’d be able to get their kids into university, while the daughters of the aristocracy studied hotel management so they’d know how to run their husband’s estate, trusting that tutors would handle the education piece for the offspring.

Army Aptitude Test
