1 The World Temple of the Bahai is in Haifa, Israel.

It is really a beautiful place (although you have to deal with a lot of stairs if you want to see all the gardens on the west side)

2 The Baha’i are supposed to make a pilgrimage to the World Temple like the Moslems they derive from do to Mecca. It’s very organized: first fosterling’s mother scheduled the two of them for a date five years in the future. In the end, with all the family drama, they had to cancel, but her Iranian-Canadian father took her instead to visit his cousins on the Iranian passport he’d got her when she was born. It was the last time Iran was riled up, and the cousins took her both to Ramadan festivities and to see the riots. I watched from here, terrified because she was and is a spoilt American liberal female, and has no idea that sometimes she needs to keep her mouth firmly shut and her demeanour modest.
