Sunni and Shiite Islam, Catholic and Protestant Christianity, Judaism — which the natives took to with great enthusiasm in the oddest places, claiming they were reclaiming ancient tribal tradition — and then it gets odder. Wikipedia, which we don’t trust for anything remotely political, has a nice article on the subject here.
