1 You have to understand, DNA analysis is based on comparing certain sections of the string, not the entire strand. That would take years for a single analysis. So they compare smaller sections, and then do a statistical comparison to arrive at a conclusion.
It's like comparing wood chips to identify a woodcutter.

2 It's better than the old blood testing - "ah, its your blood type." When you understand how many people have the same blood type, you'd find it even more useless.
