1 No institution or person has a right to federal funding. I would like to see a summary of what I am actually getting for all these dollars that are going into Harvard. I don’t accept the assertion that it is basic research or that the return is spooky secret stuff that is so important that I can’t know about it. I see the Feds shoveling cash into the mouth of a beast that is the antithesis of America. I see no good return. Let’s just stop. Do the research at the University of Tennessee until they prove to suck as well.

4 Why fund the universities when they have a large endowment funds of their own?

"Endowments" mean just that, money to be spend on stuff the universities deem worthwhile.

Aside from DARPA funded researchs (which need to be justified) Federal monies should not be wasted on them.

5 Aside from DARPA funded research

Back in the Vietnam stand down we had a million men in the Army and several National Laboratories which were established to support DoD. We're now under a half a million but zero reduction in National Laboratories. Yeah, they hid some under Dept of Energy, but no reductions. Just refocus their missions.
