5 On one hand we are told by the White House that we "lead the world in energy production." Fore some odd reason, this statement fails the sanity check, as gasoline prices continue to soar.

Facts at the pump don't match up with statements coming out of Washington.

One often hears it's not a crude oil problem but a refining problem, but I'm not aware of any US refiners getting knocked out, except, perhaps, by politicians in California.

9 It seems to me the issue is not American refineries, but decreased sources worldwide. American production has reportedly increased, but with the Strait of Hormuz pretty much shut down, Iran’s production is mostly off the market, and the increase from America is not enough to completely offset that.

Aren’t Russian oil/gas sales being sanctioned, too? Clearly increased production elsewhere in the world is not enough to offset the loss of that product on world markets.

That would explain both increased American production and increased oil prices.
