Pakistain’s Dawn newspaper reported on Friday that Taliban authorities have relocated some TTP fighters and their families away from the Pakistain-Afghanistan border ...also known as Pashtunistan, home of ignorance, poverty, and automatic weapons... and have instructed the group to halt attacks inside Pakistain. However,
death is not the end. There remains the litigation over the estate... the report said recent festivities along the border indicate that the hard boy group’s operational activity has not stopped.
The report comes as Pakistain continues to press Kabul to take concrete steps to prevent Afghanistan territory from being used for attacks against Pakistain. Islamabad has repeatedly accused the TTP of operating from safe havens inside Afghanistan, an allegation the Taliban administration has consistently denied.
According to Dawn, Pak officials believe recent Taliban measures represent a shift in approach but argue that they have not yet produced meaningful improvements in security along the frontier. The newspaper said Pakistain is seeking sustained action against hard boy networks rather than temporary relocations of fighters.
Border tensions have remained high in recent months, with repeated exchanges of fire and security incidents reported along the Afghanistan-Pakistain frontier. Pak officials have linked many of these incidents to TTP activity, while Kabul authorities have accused Pakistain of violating Afghanistan territory during cross-border operations.
The TTP, also known as the Pak Taliban, has intensified attacks on Pak security forces since ending a ceasefire with Islamabad in late 2022. The group has grabbed credit for numerous attacks across Pakistain, particularly in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... , where security forces have faced a renewed insurgency.
Pakistain has also welcomed China’s efforts to improve relations between Kabul and Islamabad, according to the Dawn report. Beijing has sought to facilitate dialogue between the two neighbors as part of broader regional efforts to improve border security and protect economic and infrastructure projects linked to the China-Pakistain Economic Corridor.
China has repeatedly called for stronger counterterrorism cooperation between Afghanistan and Pakistain and has expressed concern that instability along the border could threaten regional connectivity and investment.
The continued presence of the TTP remains one of the most contentious issues between the two neighboring countries. Pakistain argues that cross-border militancy poses a direct threat to its national security, while Taliban authorities have insisted that security problems should be addressed through bilateral cooperation rather than public accusations.

Nigeria, a country nearly evenly split between Christians and Muslims, has faced over a decade of extreme radical Islamic violence against its Christian communities in the north and Middle Belt of the country. As a result of longstanding jihadist activity which the Nigerian government has failed to contain, abduction has become an increasingly popular crime in the country. While terrorists were the ones once most commonly engaging in abductions for ransom to finance their attacks, kidnapping has become a popular trend with a variety of criminals with no known political affiliation as they have seen families and governments pay ransoms.
[Reuters] With the war in the Middle East still raising energy costs, Americans face record-high gasoline prices for Labor Day weekend, just as political campaigns kick off for midterm Congressional elections.
The national average gasoline price will probably hit $4.03 on Labor Day, far surpassing the previous record of $3.83 per gallon set in 2012, said GasBuddy analyst Patrick De Haan.
“Gasoline, while not at all-time records, is at its highest level ever recorded this late in the calendar year, meaning Americans could for the first time ever see a national average price of gasoline above $4 per gallon on Labor Day," De Haan wrote in a recent blog post.
The national average price of gasoline stood at around $4.13 per gallon on Thursday, up nearly a dollar from last year's average, according to price-tracking service GasBuddy. Analysts say $4 per gallon is a pain point for many consumers.
Gasoline prices, among the most visible economic indicators for U.S. consumers, can quickly shape perceptions of the broader economy. With prices hovering above $4 a gallon for much of the year, the issue has become a persistent concern for President Donald Trump and his Republican Party.
Trump has pledged to lower energy costs. In recent weeks, he stepped up criticism of refiners and fuel retailers, accusing them of profiting from elevated pump prices. On August 14, Trump said Americans should be willing to pay a "tiny little bit more" for gasoline to ensure Iran could not obtain a nuclear weapon.
Labor Day is typically a final summer getaway for many Americans, with many people traveling by car or airplane.
Prices at the pump have climbed alongside crude oil prices, which this week jumped back over $90 a barrel after renewed military action between the U.S. and Iran revived concerns about disruptions to global crude supplies.
Prices of distillates, which include diesel and heating oil, also increased, driven in part by ongoing attacks on Russian refining facilities, which raised concerns about supply disruptions.
Retail fuel prices and crude oil typically move in the same direction because crude feedstock is the dominant cost for producing the fuel.
DRIVERS CUTTING BACK
Colorado, along with Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, and North Dakota have recorded some of the steepest price gains since the war started. California, Hawaii and Washington currently have the nation's highest average gasoline prices.
NO WIGGLE ROOM
Persistently high gasoline prices are primarily a supply story, said Kuan Dosmuratov, research analyst at consultancy Wood Mackenzie. Concerns about disruptions to energy shipments through the Strait of Hormuz have lifted both crude prices and refining margins, while attacks on Russian refineries have tightened fuel inventories across the board.
Currently, there are few operational and policy levers that can be pulled to boost fuel supplies. U.S. refinery utilization currently stands at 98%, the highest level since 2018. The government has already extended the Jones Act waiver, allowing easier fuel shipments between U.S. ports. Washington also ended summer-blend gasoline requirements early to try to cap prices.
U.S. gasoline inventories fell by 1.2 million barrels last week to 205.7 million barrels, the Energy Information Administration said on Wednesday. This compares with the five-year average for the month of August of 217.6 million barrels.
Prices for other refined products have risen sharply as well. U.S. diesel prices this week hit a new record while air travelers over the Labor Day holiday are expected to pay 20% more for tickets than a year earlier, according to AAA.
"The public doesn't obsess with diesel but I see a better than even chance that retail numbers will surpass the all-time record of about $5.82 per gallon from June 2022," Tom Kloza, chief energy adviser at Gulf Oil, said.

It seems to me the issue is not American refineries, but decreased sources worldwide. American production has reportedly increased, but with the Strait of Hormuz pretty much shut down, Iran’s production is mostly off the market, and the increase from America is not enough to completely offset that.
Aren’t Russian oil/gas sales being sanctioned, too? Clearly increased production elsewhere in the world is not enough to offset the loss of that product on world markets.
That would explain both increased American production and increased oil prices.

Austria’s Interior Ministry said the Afghan national was deported via Istanbul after serving prison sentences for serious property crimes and drug-related offenses. Officials said he had spent more than two and a half years in prison and had 20 criminal police records in Austria.
The ministry said Austria and Germany are among the first European countries to have resumed direct deportations to Afghanistan and Syria after suspending removals following the Taliban’s return to power in 2021. Austrian authorities said additional deportations of convicted offenders are being prepared.
The announcement comes as Austria has intensified immigration enforcement. The Interior Ministry said it deported more than 8,800 people who were residing in the country illegally during the first seven months of the year.
Austria has increasingly coordinated with Taliban authorities on deportation procedures, including technical cooperation to verify identities and obtain travel documents for Afghan nationals facing removal. While Vienna says the cooperation is limited to deportation logistics, rights groups argue it amounts to de facto engagement with Taliban authorities.
Austria carried out its first deportation to Afghanistan since the Taliban takeover in late 2025 and has continued individual removals during 2026, despite maintaining that it does not formally recognize the Taliban government.
The policy mirrors a broader shift in parts of Europe. Germany has also resumed deportations of Afghan nationals, expanding removals beyond convicted criminals in recent months, while several European governments are pressing for stronger cooperation on returning Afghans whose asylum claims have been rejected.

"The investigation revealed that of the 6,800 individuals whose files were examined, 2,100 were involved in crimes. Nearly 1,100 were on the list of Iraqi citizens' files, and 1,000 were on the list of Balkan countries' files,” a spokesperson for the Ministry for Migration and Refugees of North Rhine-Westphalia told Rudaw’s Kehy Mahmoud, noting that “overall, these 12,000 crimes were committed by these 2,100 individuals."
The figures stem from a review by North Rhine-Westphalia's State Criminal Police Office of around 6,800 people from Iraq and the Western Balkans who were required to leave Germany. German media reported this week that around 2,100 of them had appeared in police investigative records linked to approximately 12,000 cases.
It remains unclear how many of the investigations resulted in criminal charges or convictions.
The review comes amid intense debate in Germany over migration, deportations and crime involving migrants, following a decade of large-scale migration from the Middle East and elsewhere.
The state's criminal investigation agency had previously stated that these offenses "range from theft to drug crimes, sexual assault, and bodily harm." The 6,800 people were included on lists compiled by immigration authorities in 2024 to facilitate deportations, but many of the removals were not carried out for various reasons.
The review followed controversy surrounding the so-called "Coesfeld list," which contained the names of hundreds of people from Western Balkan countries who were required to leave Germany.

A federal appeals court has restored Bowe Bergdahl’s court-martial conviction, unanimously ruling that a civilian federal judge overstepped his authority when he wiped it away in 2023. It was a jurisdictional rebuke of an Article III court that tried to override the separate military justice system.
The unanimous three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit vacated the lower court’s decision and ordered Bergdahl’s lawsuit dismissed for lack of jurisdiction.
“Because Article III district courts lack jurisdiction on collateral review to vacate court-martial judgments, the District Court lacked jurisdiction over Bergdahl’s claims. Therefore, we remand the case to the District Court to dismiss for lack of jurisdiction.”
Bergdahl walked away from his post in Afghanistan’s Paktika Province without permission on June 29, 2009. He said he intended to reach another headquarters and report what he considered leadership failures within his unit.
Instead, the Taliban-linked Haqqani network captured him. Bergdahl spent nearly five years in captivity before the Obama administration traded five Taliban detainees held at Guantanamo Bay for his release in 2014. Several American service members were injured during the operations launched to find him.
The Army charged Bergdahl with desertion and misbehavior before the enemy. He pleaded guilty to both charges in 2017.
Military prosecutors wanted him imprisoned for 14 years. The military judge, Col. Jeffery Nance, instead sentenced Bergdahl to a dishonorable discharge, reduction to the lowest enlisted rank, and forfeiture of $10,000 in pay and allowances.
The case took another turn after it became public that Nance had applied for a Justice Department job as an immigration judge while overseeing Bergdahl’s proceedings. Nance used his ruling rejecting one of Bergdahl’s claims as the sole writing sample attached to his application. He did not disclose the application to Bergdahl’s attorneys.
In 2023, U.S. District Judge Reggie Walton concluded that the application should have been disclosed. Walton vacated every military court order and ruling entered on or after October 16, 2017, the date Nance submitted his application.
The D.C. Circuit did not decide whether Nance’s failure to disclose the application violated Bergdahl’s rights. Nor did the panel decide Bergdahl’s argument that comments by President Donald Trump improperly influenced his court-martial. The court did not reach those questions because it concluded the district court lacked authority to act in the first place, rendering everything Walton did a nullity regardless of whether he was right on the merits.
The court instead found that Walton crossed a jurisdictional line by vacating the military judgment itself. Under longstanding precedent, only tribunals exercising direct appellate review, including the Army Court of Criminal Appeals, the Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, and ultimately the Supreme Court, have the authority to set aside a court-martial conviction. A district court on collateral review cannot vacate the judgment outright. That is what Walton did, and that is what the D.C. Circuit reversed.

Former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters, a far-left conspiracist who has long been accused of antisemitism, is scheduled to headline a New York City conference run by a group that raises conspiracies about the September 11, 2001 terror attack.
The conference, called "Turning the Tide: 9/11 25 Years Later," will be held at the publicly subsidized New York City-owned Museo del Barrio in Manhattan on September 10-13, during the anniversary of the attack, according to organizers. The museum appears to be renting space to the group, not sponsoring the event.
Waters and the group organizing the conference, the International Center for 9/11 Justice, have raised false allegations that Israel was involved in the al-Qaeda terror attacks.
The International Center for 9/11 Justice, a US-based nonprofit founded in 2008, says its goal is to create a "society that is no longer shaped by the false official account of 9/11."
The group identifies with the "truth movement" that raises alternative explanations for the attacks and calls the attacks an "inside job" orchestrated by the US government with assistance from Israel and other countries.
"9/11 was the first step in the plan for US-Israel hegemony in the Middle East," the group said earlier this year.
The four-day conference will include dozens of speakers and the premiere of a documentary film. General admission tickets cost $150, according to a blurb.
El Museo del Barrio, known as El Museo, is a prominent cultural institution on the Upper West Side of Manhattan focusing on Latin American and Caribbean art.
The museum, an independent nonprofit, is a member of the city’s Cultural Institutions Group run by the Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA). El Museo and the other members are located on city-owned property and receive funding and operational support from the city.
The city’s 2026 budget showed that the museum received $3.5 million, in addition to around $14.7 million in previously allocated municipal funds that were still available.
The museum does not appear to be sponsoring the event, but renting out space to the organizers. According to advertisements for the event, the conference will be held at the museum’s El Teatro, a rental space at the museum. Organizers said event costs include "the crew at El Museo" managing livestreaming.
The museum has not advertised the event itself and the conference does not appear on its website or social media.
The museum says it offers discounts to nonprofits, like the International Center for 9/11 Justice, but it wasn’t clear if organizers had received the discount or how much the rental space cost.
The museum and event organizers did not respond to requests for comment.
The city’s Department of Cultural Affairs said it "was not aware of this event or its scheduled speakers and did not approve them."
"El Museo del Barrio, like all members of the Cultural Institutions Group, is independently managed and operated by a private organization," a spokesperson told The Times of Israel.
"While DCLA provides funding to the institution, it does not approve or oversee venue rentals, programming, speakers, or curatorial and administrative decisions. Decisions about who El Museo del Barrio decides to rent its venue to are the institution’s alone, not DCLA’s," the Department of Cultural Affairs statement said.
Waters has endorsed conspiracy theories about the September 11, 2001, attacks, telling Tucker Carlson in July that the towers fell due to "controlled demolitions."
"It fell down because it was demolished, and the question is, ’Who placed the explosives in it? Who pressed the button?’" he said.
He alleged Israelis had foreknowledge of the attacks, saying, "They were dancing around, sort of congratulating themselves."
After the September 11 attack, five Israelis were arrested after a New Jersey woman told police they were behaving suspiciously and had appeared happy while viewing the attack site from afar.
The men worked for a moving company and later said that their work had been canceled for the day due to the attack, so they drove to a spot in New Jersey where they could see the attack’s aftermath.
They were arrested, investigated, found to have overstayed their visas and deported. The FBI cleared the men of any links to the attack, though.
The incident has given rise to the "dancing Israelis" conspiracy that Israel was behind the attack, among other conspiracies linking Israel, Jews, or the Mosssd ...sees all, knows all, gets 'em all in the end... to the attack.
Waters suggested to Carlson that the terror attacks were an excuse for American military activity abroad.
"They needed a Pearl Harbor, but who’s the ’they’? Israel possibly had something to do with it. Elements possibly in the United States government," he said.
Waters confirmed he would attend the conference on a podcast in July. He said the US government carried out the attack in that interview.
The International Center for 9/11 Justice has also suggested Israel had foreknowledge of the attack and shared material about the "dancing Israelis" theory.
Waters has also raised conspiracies or denied atrocities related to Hamas ..the well-beloved offspring of the Moslem Brotherhood,... ’s October 2023 invasion of Israel and has a history of anti-Jewish rhetoric.
In addition to Waters, at least four other speakers at the conference have linked Israel to the September 11 attacks. Jimmy Dore said the Mossad carried out the attack, Barbara Honegger blamed "Israel-first loyalists" in the US government, Jason Bermas said "obviously Israel had a role in 9/11," and James Corbett said the "dancing Israelis" were the "real criminals of that day."

[Dawn] Asad Dandia was eight when he watched the Sept 11, 2001 attacks on television at his Pak-immigrant parents’ home in New York.
Then came the backlash — years of Islamophobia ...the irrational fear that Moslems will act the way they usually do... as Americans processed attacks that had killed nearly 3,000 people.
There was anger, suspicion and worse.
At 19, Dandia experienced a police informant posing as a friend to infiltrate his family home, part of a now-disgraced surveillance effort purportedly seeking to detect extremism.
Today, though, the 33-year-old historian finds a New York transformed: one with its first Moslem mayor, public prayers in Times Square and new mosques rising across the city.
"Twenty-five years after 9/11, we mourn and we grieve what happened, and at the same time, we recognise that I am not responsible for what happened," he told AFP.
"I don’t deserve to be targeted for what happened, and I am as much of a New Yorker as anybody else in that respect," said Dandia, who leads walking tours centred on the city’s Moslem communities.
Islamophobia surged in the United States after the 2001 attacks in which bully boyz hijacked airliners and flew them into Manhattan’s World Trade Centre and the Pentagon outside Washington. A fourth plane crashed into a Pennsylvania field after a passenger revolt.
Moslems reported increased public assaults and harassment, and some stopped wearing visual markers such as hijabs in a bid to conceal their religion.

"Moslems trying to live the American dream were being blamed for something they had nothing to do with or even control," he said.
’TERRIFYING’
In New York, police began surveilling hundreds of Moslems as part of their counterterrorism strategy, often targeting people without evidence of wrongdoing.
Dandia experienced this as a 19-year-old college student, when a young Bangladeshi man joined a mutual aid charity he had started.
The pair grew close: sharing meals, playing sports and even sleeping at Dandia’s home. But seven months later, the man revealed that he was an NYPD informant sent to monitor Dandia and his community.
"It was heartbreaking, but it was also terrifying," he recalled. "My relationship with the world around me shifted underneath my feet."

The number of terrorist attacks across the country saw a significant increase in August, despite sustained counter-terrorism pressure, but their human impact declined as compared to the previous month.
According to monthly data compiled by the Pakistain Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), 199 terrorist attacks were recorded in August, compared with 144 in July — an increase of 38 per cent. Violence linked to terrorist attacks and counter-terrorism operations had intensified sharply in July, making it the deadliest month of 2026.

Data showed that the 199 attacks recorded during August resulted in 158 deaths and 181 injuries, compared with 268 deaths and 216 injuries in 144 attacks during July. Deaths resulting from terrorist attacks therefore declined by 41pc, while injuries declined by 16pc.
Security forces’ continuing counter-terrorism operations during August resulted in 211 deaths, including 203 Death Eaters.
The operations also resulted in 21 forces of Evil being injured and 26 suspected snuffies arrested. Security forces killed 115 snuffies in Balochistan ...the Pak province bordering Kandahar and Uruzgun provinces in Afghanistan and Sistan Baluchistan in Iran. Its native Baloch propulation is being displaced by Pashtuns and Punjabis and they aren't happy about it... , 56 in mainland Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, and 32 in the merged districts during the month.
The institute also recorded three suicide kabooms during August, including two vehicle-borne suicide attacks. PICSS noted that this represented a substantial decline from July, when eight suicide attacks were recorded, including five vehicle-borne suicide attacks — "the highest number of suicide attacks recorded in a single month during the past decade".
Kidnapping incidents declined by 36pc, falling from 66 in July to 42 in August.
In terms of attack typology, the report noted that tactical assaults emerged as the most frequently used tactic during the month, with 47 incidents, followed by murders with 46 and attacks with improvised bombs (IED) with 36. Tactical assaults resulted in 40 deaths and 44 injuries, while murders caused 50 deaths and 23 injuries. IED attacks resulted in 15 deaths and 50 injuries.
According to the PICSS report, the security situation remained most severe in Balochistan, where the number of terrorist attacks increased by 7pc from 83 in July to 89 in August. Deaths resulting from these attacks declined from 162 in July to 76, while injuries declined from 86 to 47.

The merged districts of KP, formerly known as Fata, recorded 52 terrorist attacks in August, an increase of 126pc compared with 23 in July. Deaths resulting from these attacks declined slightly from 36 to 34, while injuries increased from 33 to 59. Security forces’ actions resulted in 33 deaths, including 32 terrorists, compared with 43 deaths, including 41 terrorists, during July.

Israel announced on Thursday that it would release the five civilians, amid the two countries’ US-brokered peace talks and after Beirut’s recent assistance in locating the remains of Lebanese Jews killed by Shiite bandidosLions of Islam in the 1980s.
The detainees had been taken into custody in areas of southern Lebanon under the control of the Israel Defense Forces; however, after interrogations, each of the five was determined to be a civilian, unconnected to terror activity.
It was determined that "there is no reason to keep holding them in Israel," the Prime Minister’s Office said on Thursday.
The four freed on Friday were two Lebanese and two Syrian nationals, a Lebanese official who requested anonymity told AFP. The statement from Netanyahu’s office on Thursday had referred to all five as "Lebanese civilians."
On Friday, three ICRC vehicles were seen arriving from Israeli-controlled parts of southern Lebanon at the Lebanese army checkpoint in al-Amiriya, which marks the start of the territory controlled by Beirut.
The convoy was escorted by two Lebanese army vehicles to the southern city of Tyre, where the released individuals were to undergo medical examinations and be questioned by the military.
The Red Thingy said Friday that it "continues its dialogue with the Israeli authorities" regarding remaining Lebanese detainees, stressing that its role is "purely humanitarian."

AOUN TO PRESSURE ISRAEL TO RELEASE MORE DETAINEES
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun issued a statement expressing his gratitude "for all the efforts exerted, particularly by the United States under the leadership of US President Donald Trump ...Oh, noze! Not him!... , and by international bodies, especially the International Committee of the Red Thingy."
"This first step reaffirms the strength of the firm Lebanese position," he added.
Aoun is expected to put pressure on Israel to release other people detained by the IDF, a source from his office told the Lebanese outlet al-Jadeed news.
The PMO’s statement on Thursday announcing the decision to release the five detainees emphasized Beirut’s recent efforts to locate the remains of members of Lebanon’s Jewish community who were kidnapped and murdered by Shiite terror groups in the 1980s.
Those efforts came amid US-brokered peace talks, which are expected to resume in the coming weeks.
At issue in the negotiations is the Israeli-declared "security zone" in southern Lebanon, where the five people released Thursday and Friday were taken into custody.
KATZ: NO WITHDRAWAL FROM SECURITY ZONE UNTIL HEZBOLLAH ’DISARMED THROUGHOUT LEBANON’
Defense Minister Israel Katz on Friday said the recent operation to take over the major Hezbollah facility in the Ali Taher ridge in southern Lebanon "marks the completion of the phase of establishing control over the security zone."
"Prime Minister Netanyahu and I are leading a clear and uncompromising policy, reinforced every day by the IDF. Israel will not withdraw from the security zone in Lebanon until Hezbollah is disarmed throughout Lebanon and the threats to the residents of the Galilee are removed," he said in a statement.
He added that the decision to take control of Ali Taher was made "following intelligence obtained about the presence of Hezbollah command-and-control tunnels there... serving as the last commanding outpost for defending the Nabatieh area."
In June, Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement committing Lebanon to restoring illusory sovereignty over its territory through the "verified disarmament of non-state gangs," which would in turn enable a progressive Israeli withdrawal. The State of Lebanon, along with Israel and the US, signed the agreement, but Hezbollah and its allies are opposed to it.
Israel pulled forces out of three pilot zones into which the Lebanese army entered, but has said it will not carry out any further withdrawals before Hezbollah is disarmed.
