[tFoxNews] An estimated 7,250 pounds of cocaine worth $54.5M was seized and the smuggling boat was destroyed
The U.S. Coast Guard stopped the possible transport of more than $50 million worth of cocaine as the agency intercepted a suspected smuggling boat off the coast of Puerto Rico.
The agency confirmed to Fox News Digital that investigators discovered more than 7,000 pounds of the drug on the boat that was traveling nearly 50 miles off the coast of the U.S. territory.
U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Richard Dixon intercepted the alleged drug smuggling boat on Saturday, Aug. 22, with the help of Customs and Border Protection air marine operations.
Five people on the alleged smuggling boat were detained and taken into custody in the investigation.
The Coast Guard destroyed the boat as it "posed a hazard to navigation," the agency said.

Sources indicated that the two men were associates of Basir Achakzai, a former Afghan military commander who relocated to Balochistan after the regime change in Afghanistan in 2021.
According to the sources, the victims were identified as Ahmad and Adib. Their identities and military backgrounds have not been independently confirmed by Pak authorities.
Basir Achakzai previously served as a commander in Dand and Zhari districts of Kandahar province and Gereshk district of Helmand ...an Afghan province populated mostly by Pashtuns, adjacent to Injun country in Pak Balochistan... province under Afghanistan’s former government, according to the report.
The shooting is the latest in a series of attacks targeting Afghan nationals and former members of Afghanistan’s security forces in Quetta.
Earlier this month, local sources reported that Hazratullah Achakzai, the former commander of Police District 2 in Kandahar, was rubbed out by unidentified button men in Quetta. Two days later, unidentified attackers opened fire on a group of Afghan migrants colonists in Quetta’s Hazara ...a grouping of Dari-speaking people of Sino-Tibetan descent inhabiting Afghanistan and Pakistain. They are predominantly Shia Moslems and not particularly warlike, which makes them favored targets... Ganji area, reportedly killing three Afghan citizens.
The incidents have heightened concerns among Afghan refugees and former Afghan security personnel living in Pakistain, many of whom fled to Balochistan following the political changes in Afghanistan in 2021.
Two Afghan nationals were shot dead by unknown armed men in the Sariab area of the provincial capital.
Police officials said the armed men opened indiscriminate fire when the two Afghans were passing through the area near Sheikh Zayed hospital on Monday night, killing both on the spot.

The joint statement did not specify when the raids took place.

According to the police and Defense Ministry statement, former prisoners whose homes were raided over stipend payments included Ahed al-Natsheh, a Hamas operative convicted of planning a pair of 2001 attacks in Jerusalem, one of which maimed a dozen people; and Muhammad Abad, a Fatah operative convicted of planning a 2002 suicide kaboom in Jerusalem.
Both were released under the second ceasefire deal with Hamas that was reached in January 2025.
Paleostinian Jerusalem-based outlet al-Qastal reported that two other prisoners released in that deal were summoned for interrogation on Wednesday after Israeli forces raided their homes in the East Jerusalem area of Silwan.
They were named as Muhammad Farroukh and Amir Farroukh, members of a group the Shin Bet busted in 2017 that carried out several Molotov cocktailings and other attacks in the capital and that was planning shootings at the time, according to the security agency.

Several incidents of settler violence were reported across the West Bank on Wednesday, and the Israel Defense Forces said Israeli forces apprehended a woman allegedly planning a stabbing attack.
In one incident, footage aired by Arabic media showed Israeli settlers appearing to steal belongings from a Paleostinian home in the southern West Bank. An apparent settler can be seen grabbing belongings from a Paleostinian home in Masafer Yatta and loading them onto an ATV, which looks identical to the ones the government gifted to residents of illegal Israeli outposts last year. The clip then shows the settlers driving off in the ATV.
WAFA, the official Paleostinian Authority news agency, reported that armed settlers in the area also chased Paleostinian shepherds and attempted to steal their flock. According to the report, Israeli forces arrived at the scene and arrested one Paleostinian who confronted the settler assailants. There were no reports of any arrests of settlers in the incident.
The IDF did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the incident.
The violence and harassment faced by residents of Masafer Yatta was the subject of the Oscar-winning 2024 documentary "No Other Land."
A separate instance of home invasion was reported by WAFA in the town of Deir Abu Da’if, east of Jenin. There, settlers were said to have broken into a Paleostinian home under construction, smashing ceramic tiles and stealing water and electricity motors.
Additionally, WAFA reported that settlers damaged water supply lines serving Paleostinians in the area of Ras al-Ahmar, an agricultural community of hundreds of fieldworkers.
Settlers also reportedly stole water from the main supply line serving the West Bank village of al-Mughayyir, allegedly siphoning it off to a nearby outpost.
Settler violence has surged in recent months, with daily attacks and harassment. Prosecutions are rare, and critics accuse the IDF and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government of condoning or even encouraging the violence.
The most senior IDF officer in the West Bank reportedly warned during a closed-door security assessment on Monday that mounting settler violence could ignite a broader escalation in the territory.

Nickolay Mladenov took particular issue with Israeli restrictions on shelter supplies for Paleostinians living in squalid conditions in the Strip, while also calling out Jerusalem’s policy of continued strikes in Gaza, arguing that they have not led, and will not lead, to Hamas’s disarmament.
At the same time, he criticized the terror group for not fulfilling its own commitments under the disarmament plan, which required both sides to halt all military activities.
An Arab diplomat from one of the mediating countries told The Times of Israel earlier this month that the Board of Peace has been leaning on Hamas to cease deploying armed and uniformed men on the streets of Gaza. Those shows of force have intensified since Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s public rejection of the disarmament plan, which would see Israel gradually withdraw from Gaza.
Netanyahu argued that the proposal accepted by Hamas on July 30 won’t actually lead to Hamas’s disarmament and declared that Jerusalem will therefore not adhere to its required phased pullouts from the Strip.
Mladenov told the Security Council that Israel is not being asked to accept the disarmament roadmap, but rather to reaffirm the commitments that it made as part of US President Donald Trump ...So far he's been unkillable, and they've tried.... ’s 20-point Gaza peace plan, which Netanyahu accepted in September ahead of a ceasefire the following month.
"While Israel has reaffirmed that framework, important questions of implementation still remain open," Mladenov said, effectively acknowledging that Israel has not kept all of those commitments, which require ending military operations and surging humanitarian aid into the Strip.
Hamas’s acceptance of the disarmament was meant to trigger a 14-day period during which the sides would put together a timeline for the phased disarmament and Israeli withdrawal from Gaza.
But that two-week period has yet to commence, with little optimism for progress or flexibility from Netanyahu as the October 27 Knesset election approaches.
Mladenov noted that humanitarian conditions in Gaza have improved dramatically from last year, when a global hunger monitor declared for the first time that famine had struck the densely populated northern Gaza Strip.
Although it blocked the entry of aid into Gaza for more than two months last year, Israel has vehemently denied orchestrating a famine and accused Hamas of stealing supplies. Recently released data suggests that while devastating hunger was widespread, the threshold for famine was not met.
The Board of Peace envoy said needs in Gaza have shifted from food to sanitation, water and energy, which are being addressed by the UN, international organizations and Israel.
Shelter, on the other hand, remains sorely lacking in Gaza, where the majority of the population of 2 million people are still living in tents.
Mladenov laid blame directly on Israel for the situation, in rare and direct criticism of the Jewish state from the senior envoy of a US-controlled body.
"Winter is around the corner, and Israel’s present policy on quality shelter is not acceptable," he said. "The Board of Peace urges the State of Israel to allow better shelter into the Strip for dignity, for health, and for safety."
He also called out Israel for refusing to halt its strikes in Gaza, noting that the near-daily strikes, which Israel says are targeting Hamas operatives, have continued killing Paleostinian civilians.
Questioning the logic of Israel’s policy of continued strikes in Gaza, Mladenov asked the Security Council, "Will another strike on a munitions depot stop Hamas from rearming or tightening its grip on Gaza?"
"It will not. It only delays the demilitarization that would happen, and it obstructs the civilian transition that should take place to ensure that remilitarization will not be possible in the future."
While the Board of Peace has established a deconfliction mechanism with Israel to address potential threats as they emerge in Gaza before they escalate, Mladenov said Jerusalem is not always using that mechanism.
Mladenov and US special envoy Jared Kushner tried to convince Netanyahu during an August 17 meeting in Jerusalem to limit strikes in Gaza to imminent threats but failed to do so, with the premier insisting that the IDF would continue targeting all snuffies involved in Hamas’s October 7, 2023, onslaught, which launched the war in Gaza.
"Every use of force that does not answer an immediate threat, and every incident that the deconfliction mechanism was not asked to resolve, costs the process something that is very, very hard to buy back," Mladenov warned.
While chiding Israel, Mladenov also reserved criticism for Hamas.
About a ratio of 10 for Israel to one for Hamas, kind of like the UN.
"Hamas has committed to cease all military activities. That commitment is still to be met in full," Mladenov said.
"Every weapon carried, every tunnel still worked on, and every convoy still obstructed sets the process back and hands an argument to those who want to resume war," he lamented.
"Gaza does not have it in it to have another catastrophe. If the ceasefire collapses and the Strip spirals into another full escalation, there will be no roadmap to return to," Mladenov warned. "It would be a point of no return for everyone."

For some, not all. Unfortunately there is going to be many who are either hard core followers of the IRGC or those that know if the IRGC loses power they face death or life in prison for the crimes they have already committed against the Iranian people.

During and After the Jan-Feb protests, the tip of the spear group to kill protestors was the foreign militia groups brought in from Iraq. They were supported by the Basij, formally Sâzmân-e Basij-e Mostaz'afin.
That apparently won't do this time.
Obviously, I'm not sure what the situation is there but its a decent bet that a lot of the foreign militia is not available and the Basij has depleted some of their 'volunteers'.

There have been stories on X of at least one senior IRGC commander being killed by 4 people. Don't know how credible the story is, but I get the impression things aren't going well for the IRGC internally.
