[FOX] Jeanine John Taele of Downey allegedly had hollow-point ammunition in his pocket when deputies detained him
A California man was arrested Sunday at Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes after allegedly monitoring security planning activities days before the president’s visit, and was later found with a cache of weapons and body armor, authorities said.
Jeanine John Taele, 38, of Downey, pleaded not guilty Tuesday to four criminal charges stemming from his arrest outside the golf course days before President Donald Trump's scheduled visit.
Trump arrived in Los Angeles late Tuesday for a Republican National Committee fundraiser.
A Los Angeles County judge set Taele's bail at $250,000, ordered him not to possess any weapons, barred him from Trump National Golf Club and prohibited him from leaving California while the case is pending.
According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the investigation began Sunday, when plainclothes federal agents spotted Taele walking the grounds of Trump National Golf Club while taking photographs and videos and appearing to monitor security-planning activities.
Deputies from the Lomita Sheriff's Station responded around 3:30 p.m. and contacted Taele. During a pat-down, deputies allegedly recovered a 16-round magazine loaded with hollow-point ammunition from Taele's pants pocket.
Authorities then searched his vehicle, which was parked in the golf course parking lot, and recovered a loaded pistol with a round in the chamber, along with another loaded magazine containing hollow-point ammunition.
Taele was initially arrested on suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possessing prohibited ammunition. Prosecutors later charged him with receiving a large-capacity magazine, carrying a concealed firearm in a vehicle and possession of a short-barreled rifle or shotgun.
The discovery prompted detectives with the Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Bureau assigned to the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force to obtain a search warrant for Taele's Downey home.
Investigators said they recovered an illegally modified AR-platform rifle; a 1911 .45-caliber pistol; an AR-platform upper receiver; body armor; high-capacity magazines; bulk pistol and rifle ammunition; two radio signal devices; and multiple notebooks containing what authorities described as "concerning statements."
Separately, prosecutors also charged Taele with second-degree robbery in connection with an alleged Nov. 4, 2025, incident that was already under investigation by the El Segundo Police Department before Sunday's arrest at the golf course. Huh?
The investigation is being conducted jointly by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force and the U.S. Secret Service. Officials said additional charges could be filed as the investigation continues.
Taele's first name being Jeanine prompted immediate speculation online that the suspect was transgender. But Mah dismissed the claim, telling Newsweek that Taele is a biological male.
Which doesn’t tell us how he identifies, but no doubt more will be revealed.

Taele was also wanted by the El Segundo, California, police department in a robbery investigation. Mah told Newsweek that the El Segundo force put out a watch in a California database and that when Taele was booked, it alerted the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department that there was a watch out on him.
Mah said the department then notified El Segundo that Taele was in custody. He said he believes the robbery probe was a few months old and didn't believe the suspect had other arrests on his record, but Mah hadn't been given access to his full criminal background.
Taele had been spotted around the golf course several times since June, but there was no indication he was aware of Trump’s upcoming visit, a law enforcement source told The Post.

Skidmark’s Daily Mail link makes interesting reading, as usual. To whit:
During a July 31 security assessment at the club ahead of Trump's visit, federal agents spotted a 'suspicious individual' they later identified as Teale, according to an affidavit.
Agents said he was walking through the golf course while wearing an ear piece and taking pictures and videos of federal agents' attempts to plan out security, before leaving the area and driving away.
On Sunday, just two days later, he was seen back at the club by golf course staff, who notified federal agents, still there performing a security assessment.
Teale then approached the agents and claimed to be a State Department employee doing security detail on their behalf.
He eventually admitted to having a loaded firearm in his car in the parking lot.
The federal agents then reached out to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who then turned up at the club.
Cops found a loaded magazine in Taele's pants pocket before searching his car in the parking lot and discovering a loaded pistol and further ammunition.
On Monday, Taele's residence in Downey, California was searched and they found even more weapons and ammunition, including an illegally-modified AR-style rifle, .45 caliber pistol, body armor and high-capacity magazines.
They also claimed to have found several notebooks that featured 'concerning statements,' as well as two radio devices.
Taele was arrested under suspicion of carrying a concealed firearm and possession of illegal ammunition, including hollow point bullets.
A law enforcement source told The New York Post that Teale - who claimed to be a Marine Corps veteran - had been seen several times around the golf course the past two months but that it wasn't clear he was aware Trump was visiting.
Police said that while the investigation is ongoing, there is 'no credible threat to our communities.'
If convicted, Teale faces a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years in federal prison.
The ear piece, State Department Claim, and the bullets no doubt drove the decision.

@5 I'll try to answer some of the questions.
A short barreled rifle in the configuration shown is illegal in CA (pistol grip with a magazine in front of the trigger). Even IF he had the Federal license of a SBR, gun is still illegal.
If the gun in the car had a loaded magazine and
was unsecured in a lockbox/car safe, that's often illegal as well. If he didn't have a CA permit, then the ammo & having the gun in the car is illegal.
I guess I have lived in the South too long, where the US Constitution is still respected by the majority of the "Living" voters.
Carrying a pistol in a vehicle here is same as having it in your house. Maybe 1 of the reasons car jacking and civilians stopping to get involved in stopping crimes is higher here, than in than LA or CAL.

This evidence is very thin unless this guy is currently felon.
1. A 16 round magazine is not illegal to possess in CA. But it is illegal to purchase or sell or transport in.
2. It is impossible to tell if that AR is illegal. First off, the picture they showed with the ruler does not go to the breech face. It may very well be correct length. You can have the 4 evil features (Adjustable stock, forward hand grip, flash suppressor or pistol grip) as long as the gun’s upper and lower separates between mag changes). Several products like this can do that:

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect, Salihu Miakailu, 48, was arrested at about 8:00 p.m. on Aug. 3 during an intelligence-led operation at his residence in Dutsen Kura Village, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Troops of the 222 Battalion, Operation HADIN KAI, have intercepted 20 suspected family members of Boko Haram (Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad – JAS) who reportedly fled their enclave following an attack by rival Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in Borno State.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the group was intercepted at about 9:05 a.m. on Aug. 3 during a routine patrol along the Gezuwa axis in Konduga Local Government Area.
The sources said the escapees comprised nine women, two adult men, eight female minors and one male child below the age of two years, bringing the total number to 20.

The small airport is located near the Yemeni border and has a single terminal handling a few flights per day.
Fighting erupted last month, marking the first time that Saudi Arabia and the Houthis have traded heavy fire since a 2022 truce.
A Saudi-led military coalition had been at war with the Houthis since 2015, after the rebels seized the capital Sanaa and forced out the internationally recognized government.

Saudi Arabia was reportedly gearing up for a major offensive against the Houthis, The Guardian reported on Thursday, as Saudi forces were reportedly seen withdrawing from eastern Yemen in what may signal preparations for a ground attack.
The report came just two days after Rooters reported, citing regional sources familiar with the matter, that the Houthis were considering imposing fees on fat merchantmen sailing through the southern Red Sea amid the group’s ongoing maritime blockade.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) on Wednesday said its troops found and dismantled an underground route "containing dozens of rockets belonging to terrorist organizations operating in Gaza."
Body camera footage from the Oketz Unit showed an Israeli military canine running through an underground terror tunnel in the southern Gaza Strip. Video shows the dog coming upon a stash of rockets.
The IDF said troops from the Paratroopers Brigade, under the command of the Gaza Division, "located an underground route containing dozens of rockets belonging to terrorist organizations operating in the Gaza Strip."
"The route was dismantled in cooperation with the engineering forces of the Gaza Division and the Yahalom Unit," the IDF added. "The troops are operating in the southern Gaza Strip, to clear the Yellow Line area of terrorist infrastructure above and below ground."
Another video released by the IDF shows large explosions above ground during the dismantling of the terror tunnel. The Israeli military said its troops in the Southern Command "are deployed in the area in accordance with the ceasefire framework and will continue to operate to remove any immediate threat."
