[IsraelTimes] A man was arrested in Utah for stabbing a Muslim man multiple times and stated that he targeted the victim because of the victim’s religion, police say in court records.
Police say the suspect told them he “intends to kill Muslims” and that he constituted “a substantial danger to the public if released based on his violent actions … ideologies and pre-planned mass casualty events.”
The incident took place inside the Valley Fair Mall in Utah’s West Valley City on Monday. The male victim had “multiple stab wounds all over his body and was bleeding profusely,” police say in an affidavit.
Authorities say the suspect was pinned to the ground by bystanders before officers arrived on the scene.
The suspect, Peter Michael Larsen, 48, was booked into the Salt Lake County jail for a probe over attempted murder and prohibited dangerous weapon conduct, jail records show. The victim was a male Muslim kiosk worker.
The suspect said “he had targeted the victim with intent to kill him because of his religion (Muslim),” according to the police booking affidavit.
The suspect approached the Muslim man, asked for his name, asked about his religion and indicated he wanted a bottle of water, the Salt Lake Tribune reports, citing comments from Imam Shuaib Din, who leads the Utah Islamic Center and has been in contact with the victim’s family.
As the victim turned to get the water, the attacker began stabbing him, according to Din.
The victim was hospitalized and in critical condition. A friend set up a GoFundMe page for him, which said the Muslim man was stabbed 15 times and needed surgeries.
The attacker was also hospitalized because of wounds sustained while he was subdued by bystanders, before being booked into the Salt Lake County jail.

On the night of June 20 to 21, 1405 solar Hijri (corresponding to June 10-11, 2026 Gregorian), for the first time, forces of the National Mobilization Front conducted an operation against a joint base affiliated with the terrorist groups of the Taliban and the Pakistani TTP in Nourgram District of Nooristan Province.
As a result of this operation, 5 individuals were killed, including 3 members of the Pakistani TTP and 2 members of the Afghan Taliban.
Additionally, 4 others, who were wounded, fled the scene along with other Taliban members.

MALI — The Malian Armed Forces (FAMa) announce that they have repelled an attack on a logistics convoy near the village of N'Djéla, close to Niono. The army reports several armed combatants neutralized, while sweeping operations continue in the area.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the attack occurred on July 12 while the convoy was immobilized after becoming bogged down due to heavy rains that fell on the route.
Military authorities indicate that the deployed units reacted swiftly and repelled the assault carried out by armed terrorist groups, allowing the convoy to be secured.
The army specifies that pursuit and search operations for the attackers are still ongoing in order to fully secure the sector.
The General Staff reaffirms its determination to continue security operations across the entire national territory and calls on the population to continue supporting the engaged forces.

[DM] Police have this morning shot a man who witnesses say screamed 'Allahu Akbar' and fired a 'musket-like' gun outside a German supermarket.
The 41-year-old man was seen with a weapon in front of a supermarket in the Friedrichstadt district of Dresden at around 8.20 this morning.
Witnesses called police, who quickly arrived. Special forces shot at the man, a Turkish citizen who was wielding 'what appeared to be a musket', after he screamed the Islamic religious saying.
Footage from the scene showed two armed police officers taking cover behind a car on the road next to the supermarket.
Another shot showed an armed cop peering round the corner of the supermarket and taking a shot at the man.
Following the exchange of gunfire, the gunman fell to the floor and screamed, apparently hit with a bullet.
Footage showed him lying on his back, with blood pooling around him.
After officers gave him first aid, he was taken to hospital with injuries and is now under investigation for making threats and violating weapons laws.
Dresden police said in a statement that no officers or civilians were injured during the incident.
Pictures from the scene taken by local media showed several armed and masked police officers surrounding the entrance of the supermarket, while a man was seen lying in the back of an ambulance.
A small pool of blood was seen in front of the entrance to the shop.
Police have cordoned off the supermarket and said there is no longer any danger to the public.
It is not known why the man carried out his actions. Cops are looking into whether he had any connection to any of the employees of the store.

The official, who is following the investigation and requested anonymity, said "a high-level Israeli agent was arrested last week in Beirut."
He alleged that the suspect had been "involved in providing the Israeli side with precise information that led to the liquidation of Hezbollah officials, including four top-tier security leaders."
"He was very close to commanders in Hezbollah, and possessed a wide range of information due to his relationship with them," the official added.
According to the official, the man was detained last week at Beirut’s airport as he prepared to board a flight to Iraq.

On July 14, Iranian armed forces launched missile and drone attacks on US positions in Kuwait and Bahrain, destroying weapons hangars, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported.
"During the operation, several weapons and spare parts depots for enemy ships and aircraft were destroyed at the Sheikh Isa airbase in Bahrain using missiles and UAVs. A site housing enemy MQ9 drones at the Ali al-Salem airbase in Kuwait was also attacked, with several drones destroyed and damaged," Iran's state broadcaster IRIB quoted the IRGC statement as saying.
It is emphasized that the operation was a response to US strikes on several military facilities in southern Iran. The IRGC stated that until US actions in the Middle East end, not a single drop of oil will be removed from the region.

The US first imposed the blockade in mid-April and then lifted it in mid-June, a day after the signing of the interim deal aimed at permanently ending the war. The deal set a 60-day timeline to also negotiate an agreement on Iran’s nuclear program, but talks have stalled as fighting over the strait has intensified, with Tehran proclaiming last week it again closed Hormuz.
There are at least 19 US warships in the Arabian Sea, including two aircraft carriers and an amphibious assault ship with more than 1,000 Marines aboard. US Central Command also said in a social media post that there are "hundreds of military aircraft operating across the Middle East."

According to Cooper, Iran intentionally attacked seven fat merchantmen over the past seven days resulting in "nearly a dozen" civilian crew members being killed, injured or going missing. He said Iran also launched dozens of missiles and drones at neighboring Gulf countries, including early Wednesday as Iranian forces claimed attacks on US positions at Jordan’s Azraq base and in Bahrain and Kuwait.
There were reports of injuries; material damage was reported in Kuwait from a fire caused by an Iranian attack, while Jordan said it intercepted three Iranian missiles fired at the kingdom.
Iran’s deputy foreign minister for legal and international affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, said in an interview aired by IRIB, Iran’s state broadcaster, that the US was seeking to prevent Tehran from exercising what he described as "effective illusory sovereignty" over the Strait of Hormuz, which the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps vowed would remain closed "until the United States ends its acts of aggression."
"We’re going to hit them very hard tonight. We’re going to hit them very hard tomorrow night. We’re going to hit them very hard the night after, and then next week it gets really bad for them because next week comes the power plants. Next week comes the bridges. We’re going to knock out all their power plants. We’re going to knock out all their bridges unless they get to the table and negotiate," Trump told Fox News in an interview that aired Tuesday night on "Special Report with Bret Baier."
"I’ll save the energy targets for last, but ultimately we’ll hit energy targets," he added.
Trump has threatened numerous times to bomb Iranian energy sites only to hold off in the end, apparently due to concerns that doing so would result in Iran becoming a failed state — a scenario the US is looking to avoid.
Listing Trump’s war aims as preventing Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and to degrade Iran’s military capabilities, Baier asked if they can be accomplished through an air campaign alone.
Trump claimed his war aims have actually already been achieved even though the US has not secured Iran’s stockpiles of enriched uranium and traffic through Hormuz is only at 10% of prewar levels.
"It’s open if people want to go through it," Trump said.
As for Iran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, Trump again downplayed the importance of securing it, saying the US was surveilling Iran’s nuclear sites.
Asked whether the US was capable of striking the nuclear site deep underground at Pickaxe Mountain, Trump responded, "Nobody knows about Pickaxe," before insisting the US is watching that site too and could act if needed.
Trump gave a similar answer regarding the Taleghan facility outside Tehran, which satellite imagery suggests Iran has started repairing since it was struck during the war. "We can hit that one very easily," the president claimed.
Asked if he has been negotiating with the right people in Iran, Trump said he does not want to negotiate anymore because Iran purportedly reneged on a deal over the weekend.
But seconds later, he said his aides have been talking to Iranian negotiators in just the past hour.
Asked what message the US passed along to Iran, Trump said, "You better make a deal. You’re not going to have anybody left. We’re being very careful with the civilian population, but you better make a deal [or] you’re not going to have anything left."
