[ShabelleMedia] A senior al-Shabaab ... the personification of Somali state failure... commander has reportedly been captured during a military operation conducted by Somali special forces near the Kenya-Somalia border.
According to sources privy to the information, the operation was carried out in Baghdad town, about 42 kilometres outside Hosingow in Somalia’s Sub Sector Central, an area located towards the Kenyan border.
Security agencies reported that the commander was arrested alive during the counter-terrorism operation, while three other suspected al-Shabaab Lions of Islam were killed.

It is now believed that the suspected militia leader was on his way to Kenya alongside other suspected militia members and was on the verge ot entering the country when they were ambushed.

The operation is part of ongoing efforts by Kenya and Somali security forces to dismantle al-Shabaab networks operating in some Somalia areas, particularly in regions close to the Kenyan border.
The reported capture of the commander is a major boost for the security forces, as it is expected to provide valuable intelligence in investigating the group’s operations and networks.
Al-Shabaab has in recent years waged war against the Somali government and has frequently carried out attacks targeting both Somalia and Kenya.

Azawad Front Announces Toll of "The Six Days Battle": We Broke Russia's, Mali's, and Sahel States' Largest Deployment
The Azawad Liberation Front announced on Saturday that it had tightened control over the city of Anefis and repelled, over six days, a broad counterattack launched by Malian forces, the Russian "Africa Corps," and allied militias, backed by air cover from Sahel Alliance countries.
The Front stated, in a communiqué issued from Kidal, that its forces took control of Anefis on July 4, captured a number of Malian soldiers, before besieging Russian elements inside the military camp and inflicting losses on them in lives and equipment.
It added that its fighters set up an ambush the following day for a convoy coming from Gao to reinforce the camp, forcing it to retreat, while noting the downing of a military helicopter and the killing of all those on board. These tolls could not be independently verified.
According to the statement, Bamako assembled, between July 6 and 9, the largest counter-force on the axis, comprising a full Russian battalion and local militias, with intensive support from fighter jets, helicopters, and drones; however, the attack ended with heavy losses and the abandonment of vehicles and heavy equipment in the field.
In a striking admission, the Front said that units from sons of the region affiliated with the "Group for the Support of Islam and Muslims" participated in the fighting on the same axes against the Malian and Russian forces, in a new official confirmation of field coordination between the two sides.
The Front acknowledged casualties in its ranks and the loss of a number of military vehicles, affirming the continuation of fighting until the "complete liberation of the national territory," per the wording of the statement signed by official spokesperson Mohamed Ould Ramadan.

The army clarified, in an official statement, that the Malian Armed Forces, with the support of the Russian African Corps, were able to secure the road leading to Ansongo and ensure the convoy's entry into the city, despite being subjected to several clashes and ambushes, confirming that the armed groups used suicide drones during the attacks in an attempt to obstruct the arrival of the reinforcements.
The statement added that the forces had carried out, 48 hours before the convoy's arrival, military operations targeting strategic positions where the armed groups were stationed in the vicinity of Ansongo, which paved the way for securing the road and restoring freedom of movement on this axis.
In a preliminary tally of the operations carried out during the past twenty-four hours, the army announced the execution of 15 airstrikes in the Ansongo areas, and the Tabankort areas affiliated with the Gao region, and Koulikoro near Sévaré, which resulted in the destruction of 12 combat vehicles and the neutralization of about 100 terrorists, according to the statement.

The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said a convoy of Israeli army vehicles, consisting of three military vehicles, advanced into the outskirts of al-Samadaniya village in the southern province of Quneitra.
The Israeli army "set up a temporary checkpoint at the Eastern al-Samadaniya intersection, where it proceeded to search passersby, before withdrawing from the area," SANA reported.
The outlet also said an Israeli military convoy of more than 15 vehicles had advanced into another village in the same area and searched a house and a fodder warehouse before withdrawing.

Two shepherds were detained by Israeli forces in the area last week, SANA reported on Monday.
