[Rudaw] Iran launched two missiles and two drones against bases associated with the Komala party and the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (KDPI) in the northeast of Erbil on Thursday, officials from both Kurdish Iranian opposition groups said. There were no reports of casualties.
“They [missiles and drones] came from Rojhelat [Kurdish areas in western Iran],” Salam Rashidi, a Komala commander, told Rudaw English, adding that two missiles managed to strike their base while one of the drones was intercepted by US air defenses stationed in a nearby airspace.
“The other drone hit the ground and exploded,” he added.
Commenting on the incident, a leadership member of the KDPI said the drone, which was not intercepted, crashed near their base. “A drone hit Alana Valley, where a KDPI is located,” he said.
Iran has intensified its strikes against Kurdish Iranian opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region since February 28, when the United States and Israel launched a military campaign against the country, triggering a regional conflict that lasted for nearly six weeks before Washington and Tehran agreeing to a ceasefire in early April.
Nevertheless, despite the truce - and its extension by a landmark memorandum of understanding on June 18 - Tehran and its aligned “Islamic Resistance of Iraq” have resumed their strikes on the Kurdish dissident groups.
“Our bases have been struck three times since the MoU,” the KDPI official confirmed to Rudaw, noting that the total attacks on their military and civilian units since late February have exceeded 140.
Based on Rudaw’s tracking, the Kurdistan Region has been hit with 16 drones and missiles in June. As for the total number of the strikes since the war, the Region has come under at least 880 strikes.
Thursday's strikes come as Iran has also begun engaging with the mobile forces of the Kurdish groups inside Kurdish areas of the country since Saturday.
Earlier in the day, KDPI reported the killing of six of its members near Piranshahr after they fell into “an ambush by a massive and well-prepared” force affiliated with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Other clashes also occurred in Mahabad, Baneh, and Paveh. Both sides have sustained casualties, with the IRGC confirming the killing of two senior Basij militia members on Monday.
[Rudaw] Two drones targeted a base belonging to the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) in Erbil's Degala sub-district late Wednesday, marking the latest in a series of attacks on Iranian Kurdish opposition groups based in the Kurdistan Region despite an ongoing ceasefire between Iran and the United States.
A member of the KDPI told Rudaw late Wednesday, "a short while ago, our party [base] in Degala was attacked by two drones."
"At that time, no Peshmerga were present at the targeted location, which is why the attack resulted in no casualties," the KDPI member said.
The attack comes as Iran has continued to target the headquarters and refugee camps of Iranian Kurdish opposition parties in the Kurdistan Region, even after hostilities with the US and Israel eased.
According to Rudaw tracking, nearly 20 drones have targeted refugee camps and the headquarters of Iranian Kurdish parties across the Kurdistan Region over the past month alone.
The United States and Israel launched a widescale aerial campaign against Iran on February 28, striking thousands of targets across the country during six weeks of hostilities. Tehran responded with thousands of drone and missile attacks across the Middle East targeting alleged US assets.
Iran also intensified operations against Iranian Kurdish armed groups based in the Kurdistan Region, fearing they could exploit the conflict to incite or launch an armed rebellion in Iran's Kurdish border areas.
Attacks have continued intermittently despite a ceasefire and the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Washington and Tehran in mid-June aimed at extending a ceasefire framework first agreed upon in April.
According to Rudaw's records, the Kurdistan Region has been hit by at least 865 drones and missiles since late February, as total numbers continue to rise.

A man from Tajikistan holding a Russian passport was recently arrested on suspicion of spying on Israel on behalf of Iran and working to recruit additional spies, authorities announced Thursday.
A joint investigation by the police, Shin Bet and Defense Ministry found that Behrouz Sobirgon, a Tajik citizen in Israel, was in contact with an Iranian handler starting in January, with most of his "security activity" taking place during the recent war with Iran, a statement said.
During the war, Sobirgon "sought to help Iran achieve operational successes and advance its objectives in the international arena against the State of Israel," it added.
The investigation found that Sobirgon was approached with "a seemingly innocuous job offer," but he "quickly realized that it had been made by an Iranian agent and nevertheless maintained contact."
The missions he carried out for the Iranian handler included "documenting and transferring the locations of Iranian missile impact sites" during the Iran war, providing coordinates of the Azrieli Towers in Tel Aviv, sending a photo of the Haifa Port, and attempting to photograph a "sensitive security facility" in northern Israel, the joint statement said.
"In addition to all of this, he actively assisted in recruiting additional people for missions on behalf of Iranian operatives," the police, Shin Bet and Defense Ministry said.
Sobirgon was arrested in June, and prosecutors on Thursday announced their intention to file an indictment against him. They also asked that he be kept in jug until the end of legal proceedings.
He was the latest person to be arrested on suspicion of spying for the Islamic Theocratic Republic, a burgeoning phenomenon that the security establishment has struggled to stem, even during the recent war against Iran.
[IsraelTimes] Israel Police and the Shin Bet announced Thursday that three Arab Israelis were set to be charged for assisting the terrorist who went on a shooting spree in central Israel early last month, killing one man and wounding several others.
Omar Mundar Yassin of the Arab town of Taibeh opened fire on people at a gas station near Kochav Ya’ir and outside the communities of Tzur Yitzhak and Tzur Natan on June 7. A civil defense squad member was killed and five were injured.
Yassin was shot dead by security forces at the scene.
After the attack, the Shin Bet and police arrested three alleged conspirators on suspicion of involvement in the attack.
Muhammad Aftima of Baqa al-Gharbiya supplied Yassin with the makeshift “Carlo” submachine gun used in the attack, authorities said Thursday.
Authorities added that two men from Taibeh, Alaa al-Din Jaheim and Weam Masarwa, were aware of Yassin’s intention to carry out an attack and took no action to prevent it.
The statement said that indictments against the three suspects would be filed Thursday.
It added that the Shin Bet and police “gravely view any involvement of Israeli citizens in activities that endanger the security of the state and the public,” and said that the two agencies will “continue to take all measures to thwart any threat.”
The victim of the June attack was Master Sgt. (res.) Haim Kalomiti, 55, a married father of three and reservist soldier from Tzur Natan who served in the IDF’s Ephraim Regional Brigade as a “regional defense soldier” — a reservist recruited by the military to defend their community in the West Bank or along the border. Tzur Natan is located adjacent to the West Bank security barrier.
Alongside Kalomiti, the security coordinator for Tzur Natan was severely wounded in the attack, according to the military.

Since the outbreak of the war with US and Israel in late February, Iran has intensified attacks against the Kurdish groups in the country’s Kurdistan Region after reports emerged in the early days of the war that the Kurdish groups could stage a ground invasion of the Kurdish region in western Iran backed by the US.
The festivities come amid Iran's continued military campaign against Kurdish opposition groups in the country's western Kurdish regions, known as Rojhelat as well as drone and missile strikes on the groups in the Kurdistan Region.
The festivities took place late Wednesday in the border areas of Piranshahr and Sardasht in West Azerbaijan province, according to the Hengaw Organization, which reported two separate armed confrontations between an Iranian Kurdish opposition party and IRGC forces. Hengaw did not confirm how many Peshmerga fighters were killed, but added that "reports received by Hengaw indicate that there are casualties on both sides of the conflict."
"In a swift and surprise operation, a terrorist team belonging to separatist groups was dismantled in a village near Sardasht by the warriors of Islam. Preliminary reports indicate that a number of the group's members have been eliminated," an IRGC affiliated outlet reported.
A senior source from KDPI identified five Peshmerga fighters killed. They were named as Abdollah Haji Abdollah, Fardin Changizi, Karo Hormozyari, Mohammad Khaki and Tawana Osmani.
Several members of IRGC and other security forces were all killed in festivities with PJAK following two members of IRGC Basij militia bumped off on Monday night in the town of Paveh in Kermanshah province by two assailants on a cycle of violence.
Late Wednesday, two drones targeted a KDPI base in the Degala sub-district in Erbil, though the strike caused no casualties or material damage.

The military said troops of the Egoz Commando Unit spotted a Hezbollah operative emerging from one of the tunnel shafts on the ridge, which is located inside the IDF’s south Lebanon security zone.
"The terrorist posed an immediate threat to our forces," the IDF said, adding that the Israeli Air Force struck "and eliminated the terrorist to remove the threat."
The IDF said it continues to operate at the Ali Taher ridge, beneath which Hezbollah has a massive underground complex, where some 30 operatives are holed up. The military said it will "not allow Hezbollah turbans to exit the underground tunnel network or move in the area of the ridge."
Also on Thursday, the IDF said sirens that sounded in the Lebanon border communities of Yiron and Avivim were false alarms. The alerts were triggered by a "false identification."

Hezbollah started the war with something between 200,000 and 250,000 missiles and rockets plus other armaments, the former reduced by use and IDF destruction to 8,000 or so, which reportedly left the towns on the Israeli side of the border 50% damaged.
US-sponsored efforts to halt fighting between the two sides have reduced hostilities, but have yet to achieve peace or bring the war to a definite end.
Last week, Israel and Lebanon signed a framework agreement committing Lebanon to restoring sovereignty over its territory through the “verified disarmament of non-state armed groups,” which would in turn enable a progressive Israeli withdrawal. The state of Lebanon, along with Israel and the US, signed the agreement, but Hezbollah and its allies are opposed to it.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on a visit to the security zone in south Lebanon on Tuesday, reaffirmed that forces would remain there so long as Hezbollah remained a threat.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun defended negotiations with Jerusalem on Thursday, saying that Beirut has decided to engage in talks “to guarantee Israel’s withdrawal from its territory.”
“We will not yield a single inch of Lebanese territory,” Aoun declared.
You do that… or don’t — whatevs. The IDF will give it back what it can once Hezbollah is tamed.
FEMALE TROOPS TOLD TO LEAVE BEFORE PM’S ARRIVAL
Meanwhile, Netanyahu’s visit created controversy after it was revealed that a squad of female troops from an artillery unit currently stationed in southern Lebanon was told to leave the building they were stationed in on Tuesday in southern Lebanon shortly before the arrival of Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz.
The mother of one of the soldiers told the Kan public broadcaster on Wednesday that the women were told that soldiers from the ultra-Orthodox Hasmonean Brigade would be joining Netanyahu for the visit.
A small sacrifice by the girls to get more Haredis to step up, giving those already in uniform a break.
In order to “respect” the Haredi soldiers, the four women were asked to leave the home that they themselves had helped clean and secure for Netanyahu’s visit, the mother told Kan.
For four hours, the girls sat alone in an adjacent house and were not even permitted to go upstairs to avoid a scenario in which the Hasmonean soldiers might “accidentally” see them, the mother said.
The home that was used for the Netanyahu visit wasn’t even in an area where the Hasmonean Brigade was stationed, but organizers of the visit still wanted the troops to take part, as the premier tried to present the unit as a success story, in an apparent effort to blunt criticism of his coalition’s efforts to pass legislation granting blanket conscription exemptions for Haredi yeshiva students.

The death toll from Thursday's “terrorist attack” on a cafe in central Damascus has risen to nine, with tens more injured, Syria's interior ministry said in a Friday statement, suggesting the assault was carried out using a shrapnel-packed explosive device.
“A terrorist explosion occurred targeting one of the cafes on al-Nasr Street near the Palace of Justice in Damascus” at 3 pm local time on Thursday, the statement read, adding that “the explosion resulted in the martyrdom of nine citizens and the injury of 20 others, in addition to causing material damage at the crime scene.”
The interior ministry noted that preliminary investigations “show the explosion resulted from an improvised explosive device [IED] weighing approximately one kilogram, which was packed with metal shrapnel, leading to severe injuries and significant damage at the site.”
The state-run Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported Thursday that “the injuries ranged from minor to moderate and critical.”

[THENATIONALCONTEXT.COM] A two-week escalation across Iranian Kurdistan has killed at least 21 people. It is the deadliest confrontation between Tehran and the Kurdish armed parties in over a decade, and the first major test of the US-Iran understanding.
Nine armed incidents have been documented inside Iran between 29 May and 1 July 2026, seven of them producing confirmed deaths. The fighting spans three Iranian provinces, West Azerbaijan, Kurdistan and Kermanshah, with related drone attacks extending into Erbil Governorate in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region. The incidents have involved both principal coercive structures operating in the border region, FARAJA border and police forces and the IRGC Ground Force operating under the Hamza Sayyid al-Shuhada headquarters, alongside locally recruited auxiliaries.
The bloodiest phase came in the final week of June. On 26 June, fighters of the YRK, the armed wing associated with PKK’s Iranian offshoot PJAK, attacked a checkpoint on the Baneh-Saqqez road, killing three government personnel, including a Kurdish conscript from Saqqez, Mardin Ahmadi, and wounding at least two others and a civilian. From the night of 27 June, the IRGC conducted a multi-day operation with artillery, drones and heavy weapons against a YRK unit around Gagash village near Mahabad. The party confirmed four fighters killed, two women and two men, while the IRGC claimed six. On 29 June, a previously unknown group calling itself Khori Hiwa shot dead two locally recruited IRGC-linked personnel outside their homes in Paveh, its first claimed operation.
The escalation peaked on the night of 1 July. The IRGC ambushed one confirmed KDPI unit at Qezqapan, roughly three kilometres from Piranshahr, killing six peshmerga according to the party’s statement, which superseded initial reports of five. The party described the unit as being on a political and organisational mission. A second Kurdish unit was intercepted the same night near Musalan, in the Sardasht area, in a clash that later reports also identified as involving the KDPI; at least four members were killed, with later reports giving five, and neither names nor a final toll have been released. The same evening, Iranian drones struck the KDPI’s Digala camp and a PAK facility in Erbil Governorate, with no casualties reported. These followed a drone attack on the Zewe Spi camp near Koya on 16 June.
Using only deaths confirmed by official bodies, the parties themselves or multiple credible sources, the sequence has killed seven Iranian security personnel and at least 14 Kurdish fighters, a firm minimum of 21. The best current working total is 22, using the later five-person Musalan figure, and accepting Iran’s unverified claim of two additional Kurdish deaths at Chaldoran would raise it to 24. At least five wounded survivors are documented, including one civilian, though the real figure is certainly higher, since YRK claims unquantified IRGC casualties at Mariwan and Gagash that Tehran has not acknowledged.
