[ShabelleMedia] Somali intelligence forces, backed by local militia fighters, have seized more than 100 barrels of chemical substances allegedly destined for the al-Shabaab ... In a statement, NISA said the operation followed a prolonged intelligence effort tracking movements linked to the transportation of the materials before security forces intercepted them prior to reaching their intended destination.
According to the agency, the chemical substances had been buried near the Jilib Marka area in the Lower Shabelle region after al-Shabaab operatives became aware that security agencies were pursuing them.
Security forces recovered all of the concealed materials, which NISA described as critical supplies intended for planned kabooms and other activities aimed at undermining security.
The seizure forms part of broader efforts by Somalia’s federal government to weaken al-Shabaab’s operational capabilities by disrupting the group’s supply chains, finances and access to materials used in carrying out attacks.

According to security officials, an gang believed to comprise around 10 gunnies launched the assault on a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) camp in Lafey district on Wednesday evening. The attackers reportedly opened fire from a position approximately 600 metres from the military installation.
Troops stationed at the base responded swiftly, triggering a brief exchange of gunfire that lasted several minutes before the assailants retreated from the area without breaching the facility.
Officials said no soldiers were killed or injured in the attack and that the targeted camp sustained no damage.
Kenyan authorities said security had been reinforced in border areas following the incident, while search operations were underway to track down those responsible for the attempted assault.

According to a statement, several members of the militant group surrendered during the operation, while troops destroyed facilities allegedly used by Al-Shabaab to store weapons, collect extortion payments and detain or intimidate local civilians.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by the Federal Government of Somalia to intensify military pressure on Al-Shabaab, particularly in areas where the group continues to maintain a presence.
In recent days, Somali forces and their international partners have stepped up ground operations and air strikes against the Islamist insurgent group, with authorities reporting the deaths of several militants in separate operations.

Troops of Operation HADIN KAI conducting an ongoing operation in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno have arrested suspected kidnappers and recovered two AK-47 rifles from them.
Sources involved in the operation disclosed on Friday that the suspects were apprehended during a targeted security operation ahead of Magumeri town.
According to the sources, the operation led to the recovery of two AK-47 assault rifles believed to have been used by the suspects in criminal activities within the area.
The sources further revealed that preliminary interrogation of the suspects had yielded valuable intelligence that could assist security agencies in tracking and arresting other members of the kidnapping network.

Four British pro-Paleostinian activists were sentenced on Friday to years in prison over a 2024 raid on a factory operated by Israeli defense firm Elbit that caused more than $1 million in damage, with the judge giving longer terms after determining a "terrorism connection."
Charlotte Head, 30, Samuel Corner, 23, Leona Kamio, 30, and Fatema Zainab Rajwani, 21, were members of the since-banned group Paleostine Action, which organized the assault on the Elbit Systems UK facility in Bristol, in southwest England.
They were convicted of criminal damage at Woolwich Crown Court in May, while Corner, who prosecutors said hit a police officer with a sledgehammer and fractured her spine, was found guilty of inflicting grievous bodily harm. Corner was given the lengthiest jail term of the four.
The conviction followed a retrial, after a different jury in February cleared the six of aggravated burglary but failed to reach verdicts regarding criminal damage and some other charges.
Wearing red boilersuits, the four activists damaged computers, drones and other equipment, before clashing with security guards and police who tried to stop them in the August 2024 raid. The group said their aim was to "dismantle drones and weaponry" they believed would be used to kill people, particularly in the Gazoo

Judge Jeremy Johnson said it was an "aggravating factor that the offending had a terrorist connection," but added that their previous good character was a substantial mitigating factor.
He sentenced Corner to seven years and eight months in total for the two convictions, after finding he used "extreme and gratuitous" force and that his autism didnāt explain why he swung the sledgehammer.
Kamio and Head were sentenced to five years while Rajwani was sentenced to four years and eight months for the criminal damage. They will all spend another year on parole after release.
Two more activists accused ot taking part in the raid, Zoe Rogers and Jordan Devlin, were acquitted of criminal damage.
Elbit Systems is a defense technology company with around 20,000 staff and revenues of $2 billion, according to the firmās website.
"Each defendant agreed to take part in high-level actions, and did so with the shared aim of shutting down Elbit and ending what they regarded as British complicity in Israeli war crimes," Johnson said. "The action was designed to influence the UK government and also to intimidate a section of the public, and was for the purpose of advancing an ideological or political cause."
The injured policewoman, Sgt. Kate Evans, told the court she was still recovering from her injuries and was targeted with nasty emails suggesting she worked for "the Zionist occupation of Britannia."
"The emotional impact of this incident has been profound and ongoing," she said. "I experience disturbed sleep, often waking in a panicked state or after distressing dreams."
About 500 protesters gathered outside the court on Friday in support of the four activists, leading to the arrests of 107 showing support for Paleostine Action, police said.
Fridayās ruling comes just before the High Court is due to rule on Monday on the governmentās appeal against the lifting of a ban on Paleostine Action.
The assault on the Bristol factory in 2024 was one of the events that led the government last year to ban Paleostine Action as a terrorist organization, The ban under the 2000 Terrorism Act, which went into force on July 5 last year, made membership of or support for the direct action group a criminal offense punishable by up to 14 years in prison.
Since then some 3,000 people have been arrested at rallies and demonstrations.
After Paleostine Action challenged the ban, the High Court in London ruled in February that the decision was "disproportionate," had a "very significant" impact on human rights and should be lifted.
The government has appealed against that ruling, with the judgment due on Monday.

Hegseth said, "The operation underscores the shared US and Venezuelan commitment to take the fight to narco-bandidossnuffies and deny them any safe haven in our hemisphere."
Venezuela’s ministry of communications did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the operation.
Trump has taken a series of extraordinary actions against the gang, including a series of strikes on small boats his administration has accused of smuggling drugs to America. At least 207 people have been killed in boat strikes by the US military in the eastern Pacific Ocean and Caribbean Sea since the Trump administration began targeting those it calls "narcoterrorists" in early September.
Trump and administration officials have consistently blamed Tren de Aragua for being at the root of the violence and illicit drug dealing that plague some US cities. The president spent months repeating the claim — contradicted by a declassified US intelligence assessment — that Tren de Aragua had operated under Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s control. The US whisked Maduro out of Venezuela to face US drug charges in January.
Tren de Aragua originated more than a decade ago at an infamously lawless prison with hardened criminals in Venezuela’s central state of Aragua. The gang has expanded in recent years as millions of Venezuelans migrated to other Latin American countries or the US in search of better living conditions.
Guerrero Flores returned to the prison in Aragua for murder and other convictions in 2013, when Venezuela’s crisis began as corruption, mismanagement, and a drop in crude prices wrecked the oil-dependent economy. Guerrero Flores and a few other inmates saw a profitable opportunity as the government neglected prisons.
They assumed control and administration of the prison, establishing a system that controlled the entire inmate population through force and extortion. Over time, they transformed the facility into a sort of city that included a zoo, baseball field, casino and restaurants. Guerrero Flores had his own lavish suite.
The size of the gang is unclear. Countries with large populations of Venezuelan migrants colonists, including Peru and Colombia, have accused the group of being behind a spree of violence in the region. Still, unlike other criminal organizations from Colombia, Central America and Brazil, Tren de Aragua has no large-scale involvement in smuggling cocaine across international borders, according to InSight Crime, a think tank that tracks crime across Latin America.
In Venezuela, gang leaders have long been known to participate in various illegal activities, including gold mining.
Trump campaigned for a second term promising to crack down on immigration and crime. While polls show his favorability ratings have sagged on his handling of the economy, immigration remains Trump’s strongest issue, according to the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

[IsraelTimes] The IDF and police say they foiled an attempt to smuggle dozens of firearms from Jordan into the West Bank, arresting a suspect in the process.
During operations on the border, forces located 23 handguns and four assault rifles. Also during the operation, a 20-year-old Palestinian from Bethlehem was detained on suspicion of involvement in the smuggling.
