Troops Exploit Flashpoints After Reported Boko Haram–ISWAP Clash in Borno, Recover Explosives

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have conducted a fighting patrol and exploitation operation across several communities in Damboa Local Government Area of Borno State following intelligence reports of a clash between rival Boko Haram factions and ISWAP elements.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was launched on June 1 to exploit intelligence on suspected fighting between the terrorist groups and to deny them freedom of movement across identified flashpoints.
According to the sources, troops moved through several locations, including Alagarno, Baale, Maisaimari, Yadimari and Shiwari communities, with mapped coordinates forming part of the operational sweep.
The sources said all the communities visited were found completely deserted, with no visible civilian presence during the patrol.

An arsonist allegedly set fire to a predominantly Jewish apartment building in north London’s Golders Green neighborhood early Tuesday morning, in what is believed to be the latest in a string of incidents targeting the city’s Jewish community.
According to the Jewish neighborhood watch group Shomrim,

a suspect allegedly set fire to a communal stairwell in a building on Bridge Lane, where the majority of residents are Jewish and many are young families.
Residents were alerted by a fire alarm, and a resident quickly extinguished the flames before emergency services arrived, Shomrim said. No injuries were reported.
Witnesses reported seeing a suspect deliberately start the fire in the building’s communal stairwell and flee after being confronted by residents.
A photo posted on social media by Shomrim showed a baby stroller in the stairwell, apparently scorched by the flames.
Shomrim said it recovered evidence believed to belong to the suspect, and was working with Metropolitan Police to investigate the incident. There were no immediate arrests made.
Golders Green is home to one of the United Kingdom’s largest Jewish communities. The incident comes amid ongoing concerns about antisemitism and security within Jewish communities across Britain following a sharp rise in antisemitic incidents in recent months, including numerous arson attacks on synagogues.

A Jewish British doctor who is immigrating to Israel has said doctors he met told him they would not treat patients who come from Israel, even if their life was in danger.
Speaking to ITV News for a program on the rise in antisemitism aired Monday, the London doctor, identified only as Baruch, said:
"It is very scary to me that I have met doctors who’ve said that they will not, point-blank, treat somebody who has come from certain areas of the world," he said. "If they are dying in [the ER], I’ve been told by doctors that if they’re from Israel, then they will not treat that person. That to me is disgraceful."
Baruch also said he has been berated on the streets repeatedly as a kippah-wearing Jew, including "Free Paleostine" and "You don’t belong here," and that before moving back to London last year a man driving by in Manchester threatened to throw acid on him.
Responding to the report, the UK’s Department of Health called Baruch’s comments "shocking."
"It is unacceptable that people do not currently feel safe working in and using the health service," it added.
Discussing the move to Israel, Baruch attributed the decision to surging antisemitism in Britannia, both at a broader societal level and particularly in the healthcare system. He and his family will be joining his parents and siblings, who have all already left the UK for Israel.
"To have that long lineage of a family who came here 400 years ago and now having to leave because on the one hand we want to leave, we love Israel, but also leaving because of antisemitism, is very sad," he said.
The family will be moving from London’s Golders Green neighborhood, one of Britannia’s largest Jewish enclaves that has seen several recent antisemitic attacks, including in April when two British Jews were stabbed by an assailant outside a synagogue. Baruch noted that his family was living in Manchester this past October when two Jewish men were killed in a terror attack on a synagogue during Yom Kippur.
Following the Golders Green stabbings, the UK’s terrorism threat level was raised to the second-highest level of "severe," with security officials citing the "broader Islamist and extreme right-wing terrorist threat."
Some 63 percent of Britons say antisemitism is a major or significant problem in British society, according to a YouGov survey published last month in the aftermath of the Golders Green stabbings, and a record number of Jews in the country attended an Aliyah event last month.
"Going to Israel, for us, is about our kids being able to go to school without worrying about their safety. Our kids celebrating Hanukkah, Passover, without worrying about any verbal or physical abuse," Baruch explained to ITV News. "Experiencing a Jewish life, for us, I think will be a lot richer."
His wife Daniella acknowledged that while "it seemed weird you would want to go to a war zone," people in Israel "worry about us. They ask us how we are coping with the antisemitism [in the UK]. You never know when some random person is going to come out and stab you or set fire to something. That is when you have to be worried."

[FoxNews] A California tech company CEO was arrested for allegedly supplying U.S. equipment to Iran's nuclear and military establishment.
Jamshid Ghomi, 63, a dual Iranian and U.S. citizen residing in Newport Coast, Calif., is charged with conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), the U.S. Department of Justice announced Wednesday.
Ghomi allegedly procured "sophisticated U.S.-origin networking, security, and encryption equipment for Iranian customers --- including the Iranian regime’s nuclear and military establishment," according to a U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) press release.
“As alleged, Ghomi enriched himself by supplying U.S. technology to the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and other sanctioned entities responsible for Iran’s nuclear program,” Assistant Attorney General for National Security John A. Eisenberg said, per the statement.
“The National Security Division will hold accountable those who violate our laws to further Iran’s nuclear ambitions," he said
Ghomi moved over $15 million from Iran into his U.S. bank accounts and a separate escrow account, falsely reporting the money to the IRS as a foreign inheritance, according to the DOJ.
His federal tax returns reported almost no income with his highest reported income in any year being $20,684. He allegedly claimed the tax break intended for low- to moderate-income working individuals and families, in seven different tax years while reporting more than $1.7 million in mortgage interest and $1.25 million in state and local real-estate taxes on his federal income tax returns.

In a joint statement released after a fourth round of US-mediated talks at the State Department, the two sides said the ceasefire "is contingent on a complete cessation of Hezbollah fire and the evacuation of all Hezbollah operatives" from areas south of the Litani River. It was not immediately clear how the security zones would be established, but the agreement calls for the Lebanese army to take full control of those areas.

The fresh announcement suggested that Trump’s declaration on Monday that Washington had brokered a fresh truce between Israel and Hezbollah, after the one reached in April unraveled, did not extend beyond halting Israel’s planned operations in Beirut, as strikes continued in southern Lebanon, while the Iran-backed terror group continued launching rockets and drones at Israel.
Israeli leaders had threatened that the Israel Defense Forces would target Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold, if the Iran-backed terror group targets Israeli communities.

Before the announcement, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that in Lebanon, "there is no ceasefire for our forces," during a visit to the Haifa Naval Base on Wednesday.

Zamir said the Navy has been operating "across all combat fronts, in challenging maritime arenas near and far, and in operations that cannot yet be disclosed to the public."
"The IDF, across all its branches, is prepared to immediately return to combat against the Iranian terror regime. The Navy plays a decisive role in our ability to once again strike the terror regime with force, as we have done in the past," he added.

Lebanese media reported on Wednesday that an Israeli strike hit a car on a highway just south of the capital, Beirut, as the Hezbollah terror group continued its attacks on Israeli troops and civilians despite a nominal ceasefire.
An apparent Hezbollah drone and two rockets fired by the terror group at northern Israel’s Galilee Panhandle on Wednesday were intercepted by air defenses, the Israel Defense Forces said.
Israeli leaders have threatened that the IDF would target Beirut’s southern suburbs, a Hezbollah stronghold, if the Iran-backed terror group targets Israeli communities.
There was no immediate comment from the IDF on the strike that hit a car on a highway near the town of in the town of Khalde, at the capital’s southern entrance.
Additionally, two vehicles were reportedly targeted in the southern Lebanese town of Deir ez-Zahrani, including one belonging to the Lebanese army. The strike on the Lebanese military vehicle wounded an officer and a soldier, the Lebanese Armed Forces says in a statement.
Israel has said it is only targeting the Hezbollah terror group and not the Lebanese army, despite IDF strikes occasionally hitting members of the LAF amid the fighting. The IDF has not commented on the latest strike that wounded the two Lebanese soldiers, nor on a similar strike yesterday in the same area that wounded two other Lebanese soldiers.
The state-run National News Agency reported strikes on around 20 locations in the country’s south on Wednesday, including some after the IDF issued evacuation warnings.
Meanwhile, a medical source in south Lebanon’s Tyre told AFP that two Israeli strikes on the Al-Hawsh area near the coastal city killed six people — four Syrian nationals and two Palestinians.
On Wednesday morning, the IDF issued evacuation warnings for six villages and towns in southern Lebanon ahead of airstrikes targeting Hezbollah.
Residents of Arzay, Mazraat Kauthariyet al-Rez, and Zrariyeh were instructed to evacuate and head north of the Zahrani River, and residents of Jbaa, Houmine al-Faouqa, and Arkey were instructed to evacuate at least a kilometer away.
“In light of the Hezbollah terror organization’s violations of the ceasefire agreement, the IDF is forced to act against it with force and does not intend to harm you,” warned army spokesman Col. Avichay Adraee.
IDF INTERCEPTS TWO ROCKETS, SUSPECTED DRONE LAUNCHED AT NORTH
Meanwhile, a suspected Hezbollah drone launched from Lebanon was intercepted by air defenses over the Kiryat Shmona area late Wednesday morning. The drone and concern of falling shrapnel following the interception triggered sirens in the northern city and nearby communities. Hours later, two rockets launched by Hezbollah from Lebanon at the nearby border community of Misgav Am were intercepted by air defenses, the military said. No injuries were reported in the attacks.
The IDF Home Front Command had announced on Tuesday evening that it would ease safety restrictions in communities along the northern border. The Galilee Medical Center in the northern coastal town of Nahariya announced that, in light of the changing security situation, the hospital was “once again returning aboveground.” The hospital staff had brought all the inpatient wards to the hospital’s protected areas on Saturday, as a security measure amid the Hezbollah attacks.
A new round of talks between the Israeli and Lebanese ambassadors was held in Washington on Tuesday, after US President Donald Trump said he had received commitments of de-escalation from both Jerusalem and Hezbollah. It was the fourth round of talks to be held by diplomatic representatives of the two countries, which do not have ties and have been in a state of war since 1948. They were held at the State Department and were set to continue on Wednesday.

The smuggling of weapons from Syrian territory into Lebanon for Hezbollah continues. Some of these smuggling attempts are being thwarted by Syrian security forces. Recently, an attempt was made to smuggle rockets through the village of al-Ameriyah (العامرية) in the Talkalakh (تلكلخ) area of Homs Governorate, near the border with northern Lebanon. The village is located approximately 1.2 kilometers from the Lebanese border.
Since the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024, most of the weapons smuggling attempts that we have identified so far through open-source material have been carried out through the geographic area of al-Qusayr, which borders northeastern Lebanon’s Beqaa Valley and serves as a central hub for smuggling routes from Syria into Lebanon.
The current smuggling attempt took place in a different area, along Lebanon’s northern border. The Lebanon–Syria border stretches for approximately 400 kilometers, the vast majority of which remains completely porous. Hezbollah has exploited, continues to exploit, and will continue to exploit this reality. In addition to exploiting the porous border, Hezbollah also smuggles weapons and equipment through the formal border crossings between Syria and Lebanon (see our April 2026 publication on Hezbollah smuggling activities through the al-Masnaa border crossing). Hezbollah’s smuggling networks remain active through both land and maritime routes.
